All eyes on the Directors Box tomorrow :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Feb 2016 02:24:53
I think that all eyes will firstly be on the team sheet to see if RM commits managerial suicide in the eyes of the fans by selecting Howard ahead of Robles. If he does pick Howard, then all eyes will be on the director's' box to see if any of them have the cajones to: (1) tell RM what everyone thinks of his ludicrous decision; and (2) act accordingly regarding his prospects as manager.

13 Feb 2016 03:41:44
Howard and Stones doubts so I reckon Robles will defo start tomorrow.

Cadamarteri.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Feb 2016 09:26:28
Cadamarteri didn't get a custodial sentence, but a hefty fine. He was punished for committing an offence, but wouldn't qualify for a "prison" side - otherwise we'd have a few others (e. g. Gibson) to select from. However, all joking aside, this probably isn't a proud thing for Evertonians to be posting about. Sorry :- (

So, if you were in Martinez' shoes, what would be your decision over the left back position?

I like Oviedo, not the greatest of players, but he has more passion than almost any other player at the squad. Good cover, but deserves his place in the starting squad as things stand.

Baines: Getting on a bit now (on a side note, does anyone else think its weird how 31 is regarded as old? Know it's football, just strange) can't think of many better players who the younger players could learn off, and still has plenty to offer the first team.

Galloway: End of the day, the lad's a centre back, deserves his chance there come the end of the season/ pre-season, dependant on whether we're fighting for anything. Plus, I think we're all resigned to losing Stones at the end of the season, so it isn't the worst of alternatives.

Galloway: Played well whenever I've seen him, not watched him for Fulham this season so I can't comment. Good defensively and offensively, great crosser of the ball and still young. I'd love for him to play a bigger part next season, been incredibly patient.

Thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Feb 2016 20:18:38
My thoughts is its good to have competition for any place on the team. Keeps players on their toes. Oviedo is only 3 years older than Garbutt if I'm not mistaken.

As you say Galloway is seen as centre back and Baines is on the decline. So future is Oviedo and Garbutt I think.

Posted here about a week ago about Baines he may cover for Barry as a defensive midfielder either. Leaving left back for someone else. Just my thoughts on what may happen. Martinez talked about Baines being moved to defensive midfield.

Not sure if he scrapped it or may return to it. Not exactly what I'd like to see happening but maybe what Martinez might do.

12 Feb 2016 21:15:52
Disagree Hugo, have you actually watched Oviedo's ball skills, only just behind Ossie, Delboy in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Feb 2016 21:45:36
I think people are writing baines off a bit early I saw a stat that says he is the prems 3rd most chances created player the other day and they weren't a defender on the list I was looking at that shows what he's capable of bringing to the team he's had a few injuries the last year or so and I still think he's got it just needs a bit of time to get his rhythm back.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Feb 2016 23:14:51
I think Oviedo could do a wing back, left midfield or left side defensive midfielder.he is very versatile and to be fair,I think he needs a run of games a bit like Robles has, just to see what he can do.for me I think garbutt is our long term left back.just my opinion tho.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Feb 2016 00:23:51
For what it's worth, I think it is ridiculous to write off Baines. As someone posted, he's 31! Not over the hill just yet by any stretch of the imagination. He's had a bad injury to overcome and is nowhere near the player he can be just yet. His assist record over the last few years, for a full back, is second to none and it is amazing to me that his ability and importance to the team is being questioned. I think it is a coincidence that our results have been better in the last few games without him. The fact that TH and JS have been out of the team and we are picking up points is more to the point. As well as having Jimmy Mac back.
Oviedo and Galloway have done well deputising but Baines is our number 1 LB. I hope none of our fans are going to turn on him in the same way as they have Osman or Howard, that would just be stupid.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Feb 2016 08:35:44
Blueliam and spudv, who is writing off Baines or said he's past it? I haven't said that and I don't see anyone else saying it so I'm just curious as to where you's are getting that from?

Agree0 Disagree1

13 Feb 2016 10:44:23
Nbtb you should read before you post you said baines is on the decline that to me is writing him off.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Feb 2016 12:39:04
NBTB, there have been a few posts on this site from various people alluding to this. I wasn't singling anybody out as I never mentioned names but, as Liam states, you say he is on the decline. I think he has more to offer that is all.

To those suggesting signing Rooney. Who would you drop to accommodate him as he would have to start? Lukaku? Barkley?

I for one wouldn't drop anyone atm.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Feb 2016 18:45:28
I would love to see Rooney come back and I think it would get him playing again if he really wanted to come back but it would hinder rising stars accommodating him in the side so I would have agree and say no.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Feb 2016 19:19:57
Would love him back this summer or never though could play striker or just behind more competition the better just think Rooney lukaku niasse delboy mirallas Lennon Barkley tarashaj mouth watering good as any in league IMO add yarmolenko :) no stopping us let's get the win tomorrow and push for that fifth spot for now future looks exciting and still believe Martinez will take us to the top again very soon.

Agree1 Disagree1

12 Feb 2016 19:53:24
Please stop talking about Yarmolenko. He's not coming, he hasn't proved it in a decent league and frankly its getting embarassing.

cobyone well said mate finally someone who knows about football what a attack we would have.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Feb 2016 20:28:38
Who's that fella Pod? Never heard of him 😏 Rooney wouldn't have to be starting. He would be like everyone else and played whenever he's picked. Don't think he would be guaranteed to start every game.

Could play anywhere in the front 4 positions we currently have. Top player and we should be looking to improve our squad in quality. We seem to have reasonable good depth at the moment.

Improving the quality of the squad would do no harm at all. See it as an improvement to our squad if he signed. Imagine what Barkley for instance would learn off Rooney. Rom, Del boy and Naisse.

He would be a very valuable addition. That's what I think. I know everyone won't see it the same way.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Feb 2016 22:14:41
I think you have to ask the question "would having Rooney at Everton help us to attract better players"? and the answer has to be "YES".

{Ed025's Note - plus a lot more old ladies through the gate for the eye candy.. :)

Hello Gents
Been going to goodison on a regular basis for years but not consistently enough for my liking but mostly with different mates when I get chance.
Lately my daughter who is 7 has been watching a lot of football with mend I would love to take her to some games with a view to going more regularly.
Just wondering were the best place to start is, is it best to stick to the family enclosure or any other suggestions .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - it would be family enclosure for me wigan, but maybe the other guys with small children could advise differently mate..

12 Feb 2016 18:54:35
Ay Wigan take no notice of ed get her in the lower Gladys street mate haha my little girl took to it like a little blue duck to the Stanley park lake the language was a bit choice but you can't really get away from it in most stands if you think she can hande it I would honestly take her in the lower Gladys that's were most blues fall in love but it can be a bit much for some unsuspecting little ones when we score in that case eds right family enclosure just stay away from the front 3/ 4 rows you can't see the ball when it's by the paddock mate

Either way get her down there she will love it you will to nothing better than taking the kids the match.

12 Feb 2016 20:17:01
Thanks ed and liam think I will try the family enclosure first and ease her in ha.

12 Feb 2016 20:24:17
Upper bullens for me I take my 2 year old and she has a good view so doesn't get bored. Was initiated myself in the lower gwladys but as liam says language is a bit choice.

12 Feb 2016 20:37:57
family enclosure is great for kids, just not the first 2 rows, kids don't get a great view from them.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - it made my week that clubber, makes you realize how lucky you are when your kids are fit and healthy mate...im so proud of the club, the players and the supporters right now...and not forgetting george shaw, a very polite young man who is an absolute credit to his parents..

12 Feb 2016 14:22:52

{Ed025's Note - best of luck to him clubber, hes in good hands as a supporter of our club mate...man city fans should bow their heads in shame..

12 Feb 2016 15:15:13
I'll second all of what you lads are saying here this story really warms the heart and our club will be there for George not just now but forever because it's what we do I also think Gerri has a friend for life (by the way well done Gerri for getting the ball rolling with all this) we have one or two faults at Everton but when it come to things like this were second to none pure class Everton fc once again it's things like this that makes us stand out from the rest well done George well done Everton lovely kid lovely manners always smiling keep it up mate

how can people stoop so low as to drag the kid down is beyond me

We should t dwell on it though these parasites aren't worth it and by the looks of it humanity has prevailed and George is the winner.

{Ed025's Note - your spot on liam mate..

12 Feb 2016 15:28:21
Clubbed typical blues that mate making your little one feel so welcome I take my 13 yr old daughter every week mate since she was four and the amount of time people stopped to let us through or were conscious of her walking the steps it really is like one big family living room and it's why we get hooked as youngsters

One memory that sticks out was moyes last season we were one down in stoppage time me and our baby left the ground and when we got to the end of the main stand we heard the raw go up we turned and run back to the ground as we got back into the street end jelevic got the winner we went mad are baby fell down about 20 steps with a smile on her face and I promise you people were tripping over themselves to help her up I've met strangers who are now great friends in that place mate.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - good stuff liam...thanks for sharing..

12 Feb 2016 18:02:28
As a goal of the month winner he'll go into the goal of the season competition won't he so we'll be able to vote on that too?. C'mon guys let's make it happen. Can you imagine his face when he opens the envelope and see's his name.

Hi Ed I would love Bill to stay on after the proposed takeover I am behind Bill 110% he has been a fantastic chairman for our Great Club I have been a fan since the early sixties and these are truly exciting times he really deserves some form of Honour, GuernseyBlue.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

{Ed025's Note - im all for that GB, i have never understood the crap he gets and like you a massive fan, i have said that a life presidency would be my preferred honour to bestow on him, or maybe a plane with a banner saying.."sorry bill we were dick heads" would be more appropriate..

12 Feb 2016 10:33:34
Hi Ed totally agree with you there are some funny people in this world, cheers GuernseyBlue.

12 Feb 2016 10:48:38

12 Feb 2016 10:49:35
Totally agree. People need to realise how lucky we have been to have him. When you look at other clubs.

12 Feb 2016 13:12:00
you never knoe ed, the banner might materialise. There was one in support of Bill flown above the stadium earlier this season, could have been the Leicester game. He deserves recognition imo, I'd go along with your idea of life presidency.

does anyone know what date we will be announcing season ticket prices for next season?

This time last year they had already been announced with renewal starting end of February.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Feb 2016 13:14:35
I suppose they are waiting to see what becomes of the take over talks Ant before releasing the info. Shouldn't be too long now.

12 Feb 2016 01:18:05
So a lot of the papers running with the story that rm wants kenright to still be involved even if the take over goes through. Strange thing to say unless it's almost a done deal. The unknown is killing me. just hope they do us proud.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Feb 2016 06:17:12
It answers the question then, that Bill is not selling quick due to ill health, If Martinez wants Bill to stay on, I think that is the clearest indication yet that there's still life in our Bill yet, which is great news.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Feb 2016 23:39:31
Martinez speaking about bill being kept on as chairman and speaks of the long term future with bill at the club reading into it it's quite positive on his health hopefully.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Maybe he could be made some kind of honorary chairman, a voice for the club's traditions amongst all the high flyers - health permitting of course. I don't think anyone would grudge him that.}
