RIP Grumpy Toffee.

Really saddened to hear of his passing and my condolences to his family.

From what I've seen in my time here he was a great contributor to the site and loved a debate. Always nice to hear from another opinion even if it's different to your own. He will be greatly missed.

Hello.

Dad (Grumpytoffee) passed away yesterday morning 11th April aged 75.
He had been fighting tumours in his brain for the last 18 month. He alaways loved a battle and never knew when to give up, he battled with his illness for 14 months longer than the doctors originally gave him, he said that he could hold his head up high when he knocked on the pearly gates because of that fight.
I tried to let you know yesterday but everytime I came on to do so I would read his messages of support from people on here and found it increasingly difficult to tell you he has lost his fight.
He never actually managed to take mum upto Scotland and we know he will find it hard to forgive himself for that as he has never broken a promise.
Thank you all from all of us for the support you have given him, we know he enjoyed coming on here a lot. He made me promise to come on here and inform you and I am also to say "grumpy says I told you so" he said you will all understand that.
Thank you
Tony.

Absolutely gutted with the news of Grumpy passing away, he spoke from the heart and stood by his beliefs in his eyes where others would have backed off and admitted defeat.

It is ok to not agree, but he never backed down with what he truly believed, for that I admire him for not sulking away or being told he was wrong, when you see something you grasp it and stick to your beliefs, everyone sees things different, but we are all Evertonians and I for one will miss Grumpy posts.

I would like to pass on my condolences to yourself Tony and all the family, he certainly did tell us all, we have lost not just an Evertonian but a family, he was part of the furniture on this site and will be greatly missed.

How sad this news is. Never afraid to speak his mind about his Everton, respect to the man who had endured more than most the different eras of the club. Must have seen some top players in his time. Grumpy, you will be missed on these forums, I'm so sorry you never got to get back to Scotland.
I seem to remember him saying he was 75 or 76, can't we get as many fans as possible to do a minutes applause for him at the next home game, it's been done numerous times before now.
RIP GT.

Is it just me or does anyone else think Richarlison at £40m is a joke. The lad started like a house on fire but has done nothing since before Christmas.

Agree0 Disagree1

12 Apr 2018 17:03:05
Yeah clearly reacted badly to Silva leaving. No score since November!
Whenever I see him on MOTD he always looks like he's getting chances and seems a busy player.

Only 20 so I'd say he'd likely come back to being a good player. 40 mil though?
Not on this form.

Not sure he's what we need. I'd like to see us get the Hirst lad though.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Apr 2018 16:58:29
And he wasnt worth 28.

With onyekuru coming to us next season, Yannick, Kev and Lookman, surely we would have to lose 3 of these potentially?

A lot of paper talk at the moment and probably generated by agents rather than fact.

I'm not 100% convinced about us signing Jack Wilshere. My doubt isn't with his footballing ability, more to do with all the injuries he's had. He undoubtedly has quality but I'm not sure how many games a season you would get Wilshere to feature in. He has had a number of long injuries in the past few years. Whether he would leave Arsenal permanently is another question.

I think I saw us linked with Watfords Richarlison on Sky Sports as well.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

12 Apr 2018 17:05:34
Cracking player and I really hope he can have 6 or so seasons injury free but let's be honest, the history of players like him isn't good.

Free but he'd demand a sign on fee and huge wages. But if fit he'd be exactly what we need.

This whole Wiltshire coming to everton makes complete sense to me.

In fact you couldn’t have planned it any better.

On one side you’ve got Barkley who one of England’s most promising players for the future. until all of these rumours started coming out that he doesn’t follow instruction, he has no football brain and he started getting injured regularly. To add to that, his contract was expiring.

On the side you have another of England’s most talently young players in Wiltshire (who is probably on of the few players I would have rated better than Barkley) he’s had his injuries and his criticism, just like Barkley, yet he’s currently fit and on good form.

What makes this deal more attractive is that we could get Wiltshire and £15m pocket money from getting rid of Barkley.

I know we will have to pay a large signing on fee to land Wiltshire but why not?

It’s an upgrade in my opinion.

Not for me not good skills but lacks physicality and pace we already have a plethora of similar players. Would like to see the left side of the pitch problems resolved as a priority before we start getting more players very similar to the ones we have.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Apr 2018 12:44:21
if you don't watch jack you'd feel like he isn't a physical player, just because he isn't 6 foot tall doesn't make him non physical, he's very fiery.

Agree5 Disagree0

12 Apr 2018 17:10:32
Spot on Wblue. That's where most of his injuries come from. He dives in like a hooligan for tackles he probably doesn't need to make.

I live with a Gooner so I watch a lot of his games. On his comeback I was ripping my mate about his tackles. But to be fair he wins the ball back quickly. It's in his mindset to play like that. Napolean syndrome in full effect.

And A fit JW is nothing like any player we've got. he's much better.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Apr 2018 22:30:35
Totally agree, Wilshire has vision, touch and drive, he can open a defence with a first one touch pass, we don't have anyone even close to be anything like him, he's played most of the season and is getting back to his best form.
Players like this don't come along very often, we need to get him on board like city did to start with, and then when we have the attraction of other good players being at our club,
