I was really impressed by Mcaleny today if he can stay fit he looks like he could be a really important part of the team. Also Galloway looks a really good player, so fast and comfortable on the ball and I can see him being able to replace distin.

It's clear to see that Kone isn't good enough, never understood why we sold Vic for less than we paid for Kone, I'd get rid if we can or he'll end up playing out his contract and leaving on a free.

Also we have to keep Mirallas

Imo he's are best player and played behind the striker or alongside rom I can see him getting 10-15 prem goals a season.

If he was on a long contract you'd be looking at 20 mill plus . So if he went for 6-8 mill that would be a nightmare.

Yes the opposition where poor today but we looked a lot better the second half and with a few signings to still come in I'm quietly optimistic about this season

Coyb!

So we won out 1st pre-season game 4-0, already won more than last seasons. Well done Conor Mcaleny, got a goal and 3 assists, good to have Rom and Kev scoring too. Great to see Doofy Loofy back in a blue shirt and welcome our new number 15, TC.

Good 2nd half this afternoon, was very impressed with McAlaney and with Mirallis's attitude, he showed a better attitude today than all of last season. the young lads looked good on the ball and fitted in well, all in all no complaints with the 2nd half. the 1st half however was a different story.

Now before people start saying its only our first pre season game, I know that, however it only took 22 seconds to remind us of our biggest problem last season!! (it doesn't appear to have gone away), needlessly giving the ball away. I lost count of how many times we gave it away poorly. Jimmy Mc looked like he didn't want to be on the park, and I really fear for us if we have to play Kone at any stage this season, he is just awful, worst striker since Brett Angel, he even had to be told at one stage by peanuts to chase the ball!

Good to see peanuts back, and hears hoping Besic's injury is not bad, but it really highlights how thin at the back we are, and our need for a number 10, we all love Naisy's industry but he simply doesn't have the guile, ingenuity and that bit of magic to fill the roll, I've never seen him complain and moan so much either, that was never part of his game!!

Personally I feel in defence the future looks really bright stones Galloway garbutt browning all look like great talents add to that Baines jags Oviedo Coleman very strong IMO love to add van dijk to that and we could be good for many years also very good that six of these are up and coming English players all of whom I feel can become England regulars in the near future good game today really hope we can get Kev to sign new contract as he will bring goals to have him and delboy playin behind lukaku could make us a real force this season coyb

Any ideas what sort of squad will travel up to Scotland?

I live in Edinburgh and have tickets to the hearts game, hoping to see most of the 1st team, and a performance. oh it's been so long since I've seen us put in a performance live

{Ed025's Note - most of the first team squad will be there jase, and although you may see a few changes it should be good mate..enjoy..

Shaqiri?? why am I thinking Van der Meyde. Short, fat winger. Could be a banana skin this one, done nothing at Inter either.

Actually he is called roaming playmaker. He was class but not recent.

Sounds like a mate of mine when I played, he was a roamin player. Trouble is he could go most of the game without touching the ball. Cleanest player I've ever seen on a muddy pitch in the middle of winter. Remember the warm up was a cup of oxo from the managers flask. Great days.

Seen that we're spending 8 million on Dann and 5 million on Ospina.

OR. We could let Joel be number 1. Get Shaqiri for 12 million. Winger/Playmaker sorted. 2 in 1.

And look at someone like Caulker from QPR to go on the cheap.

Caulker would not be cheap and I am not convinced by him at all. Even if we let Joel be our number 1, we still have the issue of Howard still being here, having a negative effect on the kids and scaring everyone in the cup.

11 Jul 2015 13:09:05
Howard scaring the kids? Why would he do that?

Yh I agree with Caulker being expensive. As soon as I sent this I thought that afterwards.

I can see it already tho. We'll be playing Barry alongside Jags if stones get injured.

Agree with you swan, caulker overrated and priced and Howard not good enough based on last year in particular

I didn't say scare kids, he would scare everyone in the cup as he cannot save anything. He would have a negative effect on the kids as he cannot save anything.

Why do so many on here worry about other teams signings still so early in the window tbh I not a huge fan of cleverly but I think he might suprise us as for delboy delighted with his signing hopefully we will hold onto our big names and add some more before window shuts loads of time relax :)
