From an outsiders point of view apart from Coleman and Stones a new defence 2 central defenders and left and right back cover preferbly a player who could play both positions is needed Oviedo could start at left back 2new centre mid is needed and a new goalkeeper to replace Howard so not major but a big spend nonetheless

{Ed025's Note - thanks for the input mate..but we have the current holder of the england centre half jersey with us..

I think we need:

1 GK
2 CB's
1 RB - cover
1 Winger
1 CF

These are players who are (no) longer good enough even for this season:

Robles
Distan
Alcaraz
Hibbert
Barry
Pienaar
McGeady
McAleny
Kone

We should also fire the club barber. pienaar and Lukaku have been crap since they cut their hair whilst I'm certain Hibbert would have scored if he'd grown a ponytail 10yrs ago

Swan.R u a bit of a doom
& gloom merchant like me.
It's gr8 when the team is playing well but when things are going against us in terms of poor results & loss of players thro injury we get down beat which is only natural suppose.
In truth m8 our gr8 club has been on a downward spiral since the glory days of the mid 1980's when Lineker, Gary Stevens, Tricky Trevor left.
The chairman & board of directors were found wanting & got left behind the rest, likes of the Red Devils & the gunners & we ain't recovered. We are now paying the price 4 not making Everton a global brand didn't move the club forward in the right direction when it was crying out 4 new sponsors/investment & new stadium. We are playing catch up m8 & if the board had done what they should have we could have been the man city of today, unfortunately the likes of Hull city & Southampton's have overtaken us where we've stood still.

{Ed025's Note - its a lot worse than just doom and gloom with you swan..

Doom and gloom or a realist, insane or a genius, poeple will always have their own opinion but why do poeple come out with the same stuff when something negatives written, were playing awful and its frustrating but these pages aren't for just when its all rosey its for when were air are views about issues dosnt make you a red or bad supporter il still be there every week week no matter what.

Maybe these die hard supports wanna make there voices heard at the match because even at 1 nil against palace I coulda had a conversation with someone in the opposite stand

I don't think we'll go down but we're certainly not too good to go down. Swan however does have a point; Football 'winners' are Set in stone now for as long as money is involved in the game ie forever. We, like so many other teams, may win the odd cup but another title is pretty much impossible. We can challenge the top 8 but even that will require money we don't have or a bunch of quality youth players to all come through at once.

I know its depressing but the facts are that we have a dilapidated old stadium and an aging squad. Howard and jags have 1-2 years left as a max. Peanut, Ozzie, Hibbert and Alcaraz are finished now. Distan and Barry look like they'll be lucky to last the season. That's eight players that need replacing who have no resale value. If we replace them with cheap rubbish that's £40m not including signing on fees.
On top of this our Manager has only a plan A which has been found out. His transfer business is dubious at best as far as I'm concerned and that leaves me even more nervous at the thoughts of the replacements we need.

Like so many of our fans I'm not seeing much light at the end of the tunnel right now. However I'd like to finish on a night note - Stevie Naismith.

I've been saying this for a while now about the league more or less being set in stone and rigged so its basically a 3 or 4 horse race.
sooner or later the fans of the non champs league teams are going to get fed up with this and begin to wander off

This is one of those lengthy waffle posts because I have not posted a while. I remember when Moyes left that I said I worried about the impact he had had on our club and how we might miss him. I also worried that Roberto was more of a cavalier manager and although we may see more exciting football, we may not win as many games. Over 12 months on and I have been really surprised at how Roberto has enticed players of the caliber of Lukaku to us. I was also very impressed with how we performed last season. On the other hand, I was disappointed when we signed McGeady, Alcaraz, Robles and Kone. I know I upset one or two people with my posts of how Moyes had strengthened our club and put us into a very strong position to push on. I do believe that Roberto then did take us on to another level. Our start to this season has been poor. Our pre season was ameteurish. We then hiccupped through a few games and were a bit unlucky not to have more points. In particular against Arsenal and Leicester. We could easily have won both games. Then the usual Everton bad luck reared it's ugly head. First Barkley was ruled out for a few months. Then Stones had that flippin fall after winning a towering header. In my opinion, Stones has been our most important player this season and we will miss him badly. Now to my main point. We are now in a run of games where we play none of the top six. Yes we are without 2 of our best future prospects (oh I forgot Coleman too). But we as supporters should not be so fickle as to not get behind the manager and the players and give them the support they badly need at this very important time. If we string together a few wins and start moving up the table, then confidence will grow. We can then welcome the injured players back into the fold and hopefully push on. The players coming are not first choice ones. We have to remember they will do their best. The alternative is we all get miserable and put pressure onto this nervous set of players who become afraid to try anything and we are suddenly in a real relegation fight. I know which type of supporter I am. Do you know which type you are?

Nice waffle Degsy I'm with you if we all get behind the boys then hopefully things will change for the good. ;)

Couldn't agree more. I haven't been on here for a while fed up listening to all negative posts. Good to see some positive supporters getting behind the team and not a knee jerk reaction.

We have villa next, that's a guaranteed loss, benteke, agbonlagor, weinemann, delph and nzogbia against hibbert, jagielka and alcaraz is scary, then confidence dies, championship here we come!

Agree0 Disagree0

We may lose to Villa. Then again we may get a point or 3? let's wait and see. One thing I do know, is that when we get all these injured players back, we have a formidable team. RM's problem has been that some of the squad players he has signed are not up to scratch in my opinion. I would list Robles, Alcaraz, Kone and even McGeady. Barry is still awesome, but surely nearing the end. McCarthy does us a great job, but will never score many goals. in fact 1 per season is his average. I have said all this in previous posts and upset people, but my feelings are still that our squad depth is poor.

Agree0 Disagree0

2 great posts Degsy. I said much the same on here last week. We need to be behind the team after this break rather than criticise, moan and groan. At games this negativity does get to the players as well and creates more nervousness, hence individual errors. With a full house already announced over a week before the Villa game, let's raise the roof in terms of encouragement and singing. Only that way will the confidence return that we enjoyed so much last season. COYB and in Roberto we trust.

I think next season will be the season we really push on, we only signed the loan players from last season and we spent a chunk of the budget on improving the training facilities so we should have 45 million at least for next season and we can really sign some top quality players. We will have strength in depth no European footy ( unless we win Europa) and a squad that can get it's way into the to 4 COYB.

Probably a bit too optimistic that mate, I personally think we will finish the season very lucky if we don't get relegated, I predict mirallas, rom, stones, ross, coleman, mccarthy and baines to all leave and we will officially be a team that's in it just hoping to stay in it, like burnley and qpr, I think martinez will be sacked and we will begin a period of decline, get hodgson or pardew in, fast forward 5 years and we are on the blink of death as a football club, fast forward 30 years and no on will remember us, we had the first undersoil heating, that's the only achievement to be proud of, when told that kids will go 'who are everton?', the teacher or dad will go 'a story of potential never being reached, it doesn't matter who they were, they are a thing of the past', I feel we are slowly dying as a football club, i'm normally happy go lucky me but not now, not ever again, my beloved football club is about to vanish from the premier league, dark times ahead

Agree0 Disagree0

I feel we spent all we had in the last transfer window. and if we finish as low as I fear this season our spending will be severely effected.

we need at CB, RB, GK, Winger, FW.

Great post Swan as always you brighten my day with your happy go lucky banter.

Got to be tongue in cheek Swan or is that really your view? Said it the other day and I will say it again, no team has ever been relegated after 7 games in to the season. We may not be tearing up trees at the minute but we have an easier fixture list, in comparison to the teams we have played so far, that could well reap plenty of points. Stop being so negative mate, get behind your team in times of trouble. All they need is a few wins on the bounce and confidence will return

I want us to do well, but we simply wont, we have awful physios, no money, an endless injury list, an endless list of players too good for us, a fraud of a manager and a soon to be fight to avoid liquidation, its a shame really, I thought we might of done well this season, ah well, 23 home games a season next season :)
