"Goodison doesn't make top 50 stadiums "

What has happened to us, I went to the World Cup Finals 1966 at Goodison park, we where the best one around, look at us now, if you Love our club Ken and co (must go) please sell us at a realistic price.

Remember going to a few group games myself in 66. Think admission was about thirty pence equivalent. I was proud that we hosted many games including a Semi Final. Goodison was the obvious choice at the time. We were an elite club who won trophies and regularly broke transfer records.
Times change and unfortunately we haven't moved with them. Nearly all the Prem and half the Championship have better grounds than us. That's before you take in grounds in other parts of the UK and Europe.
I don't like it that we have a run down stadium but what matters more to me is what happens on the pitch. There was a debate on the radio recently and some pundit said that clubs outside the the CL qualifiers should settle for being in the Prem and the highlight of your season should be taking the odd point off a top four club. I could never be a fan with this philosophy.
I can live with the stadium but want us to compete with every club in the league home and away. Fair enough you have to taste defeat but you have to want to win all the time.

I went to all the games at Goodison in 1966 WC and we were seen as having the best stadium outside Wembley. Sad times have changed but I don't agree with your attack on BK and the Board. In most cases the grass is never greener. Look at Newcastle, Sunderland, Leeds, Villa, West Ham have they improved by selling to new owners? Teams like Bolton etc have new grounds which are souless and are no longer playing in the Premier League. We have to ace reality a new stadium and new owners ae far away. The only thing I disagree with the Board is that they will not consider rebuilding Goodison.
wellzee.

I agree with pretty much everything there wellzee. Don't know why people can give out about BK. The board as a whole maybe. Imo BK deserves nothing but praise.

You point out Newcastle etc yet leave out Chelsea, Man City and soon to be West Ham with their stadium. I want us to be competitive, we are going one way under Kenwright and co and that is backwards.

The reason he pointed out those clubs Swan is because it proves investment and new owners doesn't always guarantee success. People were on about Moyes far away hills are greener and sneering how he got on.

Far away hills could very much apply to this situation. Since BK took over he brought this club FORWARDS in a big way. The club was going backwards BEFORE he took over.

Swan and Stig seems like you's want plenty of people to leave the club. Players, the chairman, the board. Some may need to go but the rate you's 2 are talking about there would be no one left at the club.

I wouldn't make little of Osman or BK. Both put in huge work and effort in this club over the last 15 years or so. Got paid yes but who doesn't get paid for doing it. Best of luck if you think you can get someone to do it for free.

Both deserve every penny and more if you ask me. Under Johnson we were heading for the championship. Thank god an angel like BK came along and almost single handedly steadied the ship when it was badly needed.

Look at City and Chelsea, that's who we should be looking to be like, please make us an oil club who everyone hates but wins things over a club who will lose it's best players very soon, has fans who boo their own team, the worst stadium in the Premier League, like a giant tin shed and will fall behind everyone very soon unless we get new owners. Not investment, new owners.

I hear where your coming from Swan. New stadium is badly needed. I detest the booing as much as you also. Reality with Chelsea and City is that running the club is like a pastime for their owners. Pocket change to them.

I'd be as glad as anyone if we got the investment. I'm sure Bill is seeking someone to take over. I trust BK that he will do the right thing for the club and hand it over when the right person or people come along.

I work with now an unhappy hammers fan, the loss of Payet and Valencia from the weekends game has devastated them, it does make me realise what a precarious situation we would be in if the same happened to Lukaku!

{Ed025's Note - i totally agree wakka..

{Ed002's Note - The discussion was with Marseille so it would not have included wages. Everton were interested but never made a firm offer.}

Media feeding frenzy over McCarthy's tackle, I don't remember the same about Dier's tackle on Cleverly. Selective eyesight comes to mind.

{Ed025's Note - injuries happen in football GTB, its part and parcel of the game, im sure no one goes out to deliberately injure another pro, unless your name is roy keane that is..

11 Nov 2015 11:05:21
Even as a Blue I can admit that the tackle on Payet was a shocker. I would have has no complaints had we gone down to 10 men. As the game/rules stand now we got away with it there.
