Reasons To Be Cheerful

Part 4
1-0 down at half time today, 2-1 winners

Part 5
Todays performance would have been described as an amazing comeback this time last season

Part 6
If Chelsea lose tomorrow we will be only 3 points behind them

COYBB

EFCwhitesocks {Ed025's Note - waiting for reasons 7, 8 9,..with baited breath..

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Reason to feel a little aggrieved. Our record of 5-5-1 should be 7-2-2 thus 3 points better off without dodgy refereeing and this 'could' mean the difference between CL and Europa or Europa and nothing. Still, if you'd told me at the beginning of the season we'd have just the one defeat after 11 games I'd have happily taken it. {Ed025's Note - if someone had told me at the start of the season, that we would be moaning because we are only 4th....i would have called them foolish...but i agree, it could, and should be even better!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Should I hope for a Red win tomorrow? Don't think I can, really hope Chelsea win well tomorrow. Ideally 3-0 Torres hatrick would suit me fine. Well done the lads today.

Had to leave the match 5 mins early today, as I was walking out the ground I heard hitzelsperger come on, was wondering how he looked? Been waiting to see him play................

TC

Believable1 Unbelievable0

He din't get too many touches TC, he did have a shot after a great move from Coleman and Vellios but he dragged his shot wide from outside the box.

Good result today. not the best performance but thst's the sign of a good team. shame about mirallas going off as he was running the show yet again. what a signing he is. Oh and as soon as neville goes off we score 2 goals. need i say more. nice to see hitzlesperger get 10 mins aswell. next 2 games are reading and norwich that has to be six points surely. fingers crossed

Good win today, always the sign of a good side, not palying well but still winning, makes a nice change from battering sides and only getting draws.

However anyone who is under the illusion that we do ot have defensive issues need only watch todays first half, Sunderland are a side who couldnt buy a goal scoring oppertunity let alone a goal before today could and shouldve been more than 1 up at half time. Now Im a great fan of Neville, hes a great captain and leader and i an essential part of our side at times, however in games like today when teams are going to sit in and counter attack, he simply doesnt bring enough to the table, yes he's great at covering, but what is the point of stringing 15 passes together only for Neville to go all the way back or give it away, it simply not part of his game.

I'm loving the way we play this season, but at times i feel we over do it, we need to avoid becoming too tippy tappy, in the 2nd half today we up'd the tempo and were a little more direct which was more effective.

Come on everyone, Kurajan is critising an an Everton player here. Why aren't you all having a go at him, or is that for only when I dare have a go at a player?

Read the post properly mike, I ain't slagging him off , I'm saying that in games were we are gonna have a lot of possession and need to beak down sides who are gonna camp on their own box, that Neville is not that type of player! I also said what a great captain and leader he is!!

Your post seems like most red supporters posts, they see what they want to see !!

Felli then Jelly. It only took three minutes to salvage the points and make the weekend. I hope Mirallas is back soon.

If you at how many points we've gained in 2012 it would put us in the top four.

Neville plays because he's the captain and a good communicator and we need Felli the number 10 position not in the centre of the pitch.

Nostrawigus

Believable2 Unbelievable2

We are in the top 4. So what's your point?

Mike

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he means last season too mike, thus top four finish!

Gods Doctor

Agree0 Disagree0

The point is that we have made the top four in a the calendar year so we should be capable of doing it over the season.

Is that clear now Mike?

Phil Neville is set to leave Everton.
The bbc are remaking the 70's sitcom Steptoe and son and have cast Phil in the role of rag and bone man Albert Steptoe.

Very ordinary performance today yet we win, however last week we played like demons and only got a draw. Give me an ordinary performance and 3 points any day of the week. Fellaini needs to play midfield and play Velios and Jelavic upfront. Neville is not up to it as a midfielder. He is not having any influence whatsoever. Today the sub of Velios on and Neville off won the game for us.

r we feeling sorry for teams we keep giving them an early goal when r we gonna take the lead and keep it this is starting to seriously cost us get gibson back please! get hitzlperger on neville off

Believable4 Unbelievable1

The great start has gone out of the window. Where we should be at least 4 points better off and clear of the chasing pack it's back down to earth with an almighty bump. We should be beating these teams comfortably, no disrespect to them, but we're back to square one, struggling...again.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with you, however we hardly have away an early goal today; it was on 45 minutes. That's hardly early.

Keith EFC.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sometimes the result is more important than performance. I see Dm say jelavic didn't have good game but scored I thought he played well and showed more to his game.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, seems I spoke a little too soon and should've had a lot more faith in the guys. The way it was looking though, we were wasteful and defended badly early on and it didn't look like we were going to get the breakthrough, but 3 points is 3 points. Well deserved in the end but a slight concern as it seems if we're ever without the big fella we'd be a lot worse off.

Just read a cracking quote going back to 1985 from Howard Wilkinson, the then Leeds manager.
'Going to Goodison Park on a Saturday afternoon is like going to the dentist; you know its going to hurt but you still have to go'.
Let's hope Sunderland feel the same way come 4.50 this afternoon. COYB

really important we win today, and vs reading and norwich to keep 4th place. looking around we have the toughest december out of most teams with city away, stoke away, west ham away and spurs and chelsea at home with wigan on boxing day. however i don't feel like we should fear anyone at the minute and i feel like we are capable of winning most of those games. i am just pointing out that sunderland at home, reading away and norwich at home would be good for momentum and confidence going into a month that could potentially determine where we finish come may. coyb!! 4-1 today as i feel we are unlikely to keep a clean sheet despite sunderland's problem and they are a decent side that are underperforming. any win would do today just to get back to winning!

Reasons To Be Cheerful

Part 1
After 10 games last season we were 16th, this season 4th.

Part 2
After 10 games last season our major goal threat was an opposition player making a mistake, this season its Mirallas, Pienaar, Jelavic and Felliani.

Part 3
After 10 games last season relegation was a real possibility, this season......get down the Post Office for your Passport Application

Hi fellas, I'm coming to the UK for a few weeks and trying to get to the Chelsea game at Goodison in December if i can get my hands on some tickets. Watched every game this season but it's not the same on ESPN or the internet, can't wait to visit Goodison when it's pumping and we're up 2 against Chelsea!

First of all, if there's anyone who has tickets or knows someone that has tickets and are away or unable to go, would be over the moon if we could arrange something like that.
And secondly, what are my chances of getting maybe about 4 tickets on general public sale? Desperately want to go but i hear it might be difficult.

Cheers boys

Hi all, have to say have a good vibe for later, think we will win by a handsome score. Great to see the lads play so well with real flair. Special mention for K.Mirallas, Fellaini is getting all the plaudits, but this guy I believe is the main reason we are playing the way we are. Think value for money K.Mirallas could become the best bit of wheeling and dealing Moyes has ever done. Quite a statement with the likes of Cahill 2m Arteta 2.5m Pienarr altogether 5m and Baines 6m, got to remember this guy is only in his first 3 months and will get better, we have a player if keeps progressing at the same rate as he has been will become the top-top player I think he will become.
