Can I say Martinez is a class act, and so are the vast majority of you blues. Fair play for the Hillsborough support, some of my family are blues, sadly lol, I genuinely hope you grab a champions league place and reinforce our cities rightful place in Europe.

It's not so much fortress anfield as fortress Merseyside these days! (tactfully swerved fortress Liverpool lol)

{Ed025's Note - i think we all support the hillsborough cause mate, some things transcend football and this is one of them, jft96..

Thanks for smashing Arsenal. Would not begrudge you the title as long as we get the fourth spot. A champions league semi-final would be fitting this time next year, save us both a lot on flights.
Great to get Merseyside powers back up there albeit not quite the right way around

Agree with Ed, transcends football, jft96

Agree0 Disagree0

It breaks my heart to say it but Liverpool deserve to be were they are.just hope our season along with yours makes Merseyside proud.JFT96.we will always stand beside you for this cause and don't know a blue who wouldn't.

Agree0 Disagree0

Like I say fellas, class acts, hope you get champs league but what a season eh lads!

Good luck with the final 5

Agree0 Disagree0

Good to read Dentie, I share your thoughts. Begrudging as it is to say, they have dismantled teams this season in impressive style. Deserving of top spot at the moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

But Oli let's hope they implode at the end. The outcome, should they finish as Champions, is too much to comprehend. They are already talking it up. Man City to restore some semblance of reality please on Sunday following an away win for us tomorrow.

{Ed025's Note - you are degsy mate..dont be shy in posting..

New name eh, Degsy? Get the Massimo bit, (Leeds fan, lads), but what's the final m.o.t. for? Managers on trial?!

Prior to last year, RM would always be stuck in a relegation battle with Wigan. But at this time of the season he would some how pull it out the hat and Wigan would launch themselves up and out of the relegation zone. IMO He's doing the same thing in this season with Everton.

We've really had a good run, and hopefully it can continue so that we can get as many of the final 18 points available. We are aiming for Europe, but even if we don't get champions league, I think we can say that this is still a successful season. We've got some class players at the moment, and our youth coming through are looking very promising.

WE ARE ALMOST THERE!!!

I'm very proud of my Everton COYB

So with Davey out of the champions league & probably for some time to come. what now for Rooney? He supposedly joined a club that was consistently playing at the highest level against the best teams? Lol :-D . no of course, money talks doesn't it £300k a week? I think Manchester United could end up becoming the next Leeds utd if they don't curb they're spending on players & wages - there time is up for me!! Oh the irony, would bring a smile wider than the Mersey to see us grab that 4th place instead of dour Davey & money grabbing Rooney! C.o.y.b!!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wayne looked sluggish yesterday, I think he flatters to deceive quite often and is not the same player he was 5 years ago. He seems to be struggling psychologically and does not benefit from being the main man. I think he would benefit hugely from a transfer but unfortunately has been ill advised and now will rot and MUFC until he retires. Sad really. He will not be a pundit given the grey matter situation so I should imagine he slips into obscurity.

Does anyone remember the Rooney who would confidently hit volleys from 25-30 yards frequently or who could beat a man? he has no pace, no purpose and run out of ideas. I think he lack the temperament to be deep lying playmaker and whilst I once held hope he may again play for EFC I know wouldn't want him reddening our spreadsheets for all the tea in Taiwan

Agree0 Disagree0

I totally disagree with you I hate the way he left us but come on mate you don't want him on our spread sheet if Rooney was put up for sale now all the top clubs would be bidding for him and he used to score 25/30 yard vollys did you see the 45 yard half volly he scored a few weeks back.
If we could afford him now I would take him in a flash

Agree0 Disagree0

As you say Shakey IF we could afford him. That ship has sailed. His wages at UTD are out of our league and he is a no-starter from here on. A great player when he fist played for us but his ego and persona is is now in the past.
Once a blue always a blue? I don't think so anymore. Wayne won't be coming back to us. Too much baggage even in the latter years of his career and would he even be good enough?

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooney was at his best I think when he was around 20, he used to go past poeple for fun where as today he struggles to beat a man at all, definitely still a really good player but just a case of matured a lot earlier than most, never really sets the world alight on the big stage at least not like he did in 04 in the euros

It's funny how the press said nothing about how unfair our loan deals were until it seems we have a chance of doing well, in fact RM was being praised for how well he done in the window at the start of the season but as soon as pardew had a little moan the journos have jumped all over it, quite sad to be honest

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - "everton have been the big winners in this transfer window" was the shout from sky sports when we signed them, and no one disagreed then mike, but now apparently its not fair!..they make me sick..

Well we haven't been deducted points or fined so I say stuff em. Let the journo's and managers who are jealous at our progress stay jealous.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think its jealousy Dentie, I think we are looked on enviously and with admiration and we shouldn't feel disheartened. The loan thing is pub talk, what's important now is Sunderland so let's get behind the lads.

What I would say is that if we finish 5th that Roberto is cautious with what team he fields midweek. I would recommend he uses it to blood youngsters as I would want to focus on the league again next year, would be interested to know what others think. Obviously its all conjecture as Bobby will have his own plans.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with OP, absolute disgrace. We have lit a fire under the establishment, they see their gravy train coming to an end and now they have their bitter say. PLEASE, no one ever think we have done anything wrong. We have played by the rules, we have used a system that's been in place for years. Don't let them ever scare you into thinking otherwise. As you say it's sad, when you think of the problems in football. Chelsea signing 20 kids, loan them all out and determine their selection. The ridiculous sums of money involved now, agents bunging families 50k so their son signs for their team for top dollar. The market is inflated because of the actions of the mega rich. The journalists should be writing about how to fix financial inequality rather than punish a team who do NOTHING wrong. Or with respect to Mr Samuel from the Daily Fail, maybe he's worried his 5 star treatment in corporate hospitality at the Emirates during Champions League nights is under threat.

Agree0 Disagree0

Strangely to some extent I would take the same approach to the Champions League. We would not win it and given our seeding would struggle in most groups anyway. The benefit of the Champions League is money. For me I would rather we invested in 2 or 3 quality signings to make a charge for back to back champions league qualifications than to buy 6 players to strengthen the squad. If we managed to qualify 2 years in a row the financial benefits would soon allow us to start attracting top players and allow us to compete in the actual competition.
First we have to qualify once, but I certainly would not focus on it should we qualify, just take the money, play reserves and focus on consistently qualifying for a couple of years

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Apr 2014 19:40:00
definately the focus needs to be re qualification year on year svenny, but if we finish 4th we would have to first qualify for the group stages, once there I have no arguements if we played the youth squad to nurture them into champions league elite.

Agree0 Disagree0

Again Oli another great post. We've not done anything against the rules. Roberto played the system and we've been rewarded because of his loan transfers which have come true this season. Let the other clubs moan as much as they want. Just because they've not been successful does not mean we've done anything wrong.
Roberto's played the game and has brought players in who have proved their worth. It's simply a question of sour grapes because other team's loanees have not proved as successful as ours have been,

What is going on with folk moaning about our loan situation! Quote me if i'm wrong but haven't teams been doing it for years? the way I see it is that plucky little Everton are not so plucky anymore and has shaken the top four and football journos who think Everton don't belong in the top four! RM was clever in getting these players on loan therefore should be praised, all the other teams could of got the same players on loan however RM was quick to the mark. My point is people are moaning because of where we are or could be because of certain players! get over it dry your eyes and maybe praise EFC for the fantastic team and football we are playing at the min. COYB.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - its all about the big 4 for these journo,s lancerboy, we are daring to invade that closed shop, and they dont like it at all, how dare a club like everton rock the boat!..

The majority of hacks are narrow minded egotistical sycophants who nail their colours to the mast of the current biggest hitter through fear of being shunned by them, a bit like the weedy kid in school who sucks up to the school bully for protection or, in the words of Paul Weller a `butterfly collector`.
What many people don't realise is that in the greater scheme of things Everton are a bigger club than both Chelsea and City and are on the rise again while others are on the wane. The future's bright, the future's Royal Blue.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed025,
You aren't in top 4 yet mate, so up yours, lol.

PS, If you beat Sunderland and go above us please don't come looking for me on Gooners page (smiles)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i never said we were DG, and i will hunt you down like a dog if we do mate.. :)

Lol Ed,

I think you have been watching too many Liam Neeson films mate.

PS blooming good film though, lol

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - cracking film mate..

Dagger we still have it all to do your very much favourites in my book because you have fodder left to play. We have some tough games still, I don't think we can afford to drop more than 3 points during our run it. Not gunna be easy. But the reaction of these journos in aftermath of our game has been hilarious.
