I am truly grateful for Moyes saving our club from relegation, and the damage it would have done to our club. However, some resent rumours leave me greatly concerned that we might be about to repeat some of our recent disastrous decisions.

Signing old stars, past there best on big money long term deals. Lindooft, from united, the two from west ham, plus resigning Keane, or god for bid Harrison, such steps are what put us in this mess.

Without detracting from Moyes achievements, it should be acknowledged that our salvation was considerably assisted by the lamentable quality of the three promote clubs.

The future is surly in young, hungry individuals, and yes they may require some polishing, and will make mistakes along the way, but they would have to be real accident-prone to match the frailtys of a Keane.
I hope my fears are routed in paper rumours, I just don't want our new dawn to fail on a repeat of past mistakes.

Don’t believe everything you see on the internet, Moyes strongest asset is his eye for a player, pienaar cahill yobo the list goes on and on even soucek and coufal at West Ham all relatively unknown. Let’s wait until we actually see the signings he makes before judging?

I totally agree with you PSG. Today’s team sheet speaks volumes. Why oh why pick Harrison yet again and Doucouré and leave out Alcarez. Surely with safety now assured we should be experimenting with some of our younger players to see if they can make the step up next season. Moyes must know by now who he wants to keep and who is not good enough, us fans certainly do. Why keep picking players who in our eyes have no future at the club. Now is the perfect time to blood certain players and maybe save ourselves some money and wages in the transfer window.

He sees them all in training week in week out.

Moyes has not saved us. I never liked Dyche, but as quite a few reckoned, under Dyche we would have finished 15th to 17th. Same as with the messiah who a lot wanted back. Both Dyche and Moyes are like a mathematical equation. Both have a common denominator. Neither go out to win. One went out to not concede goals, the other not to lose. All very well and dandy, but, neither methods will get you challenging for a top 6/ 7 place or, winning a cup to qualify for europe. Successful sides go out to win and have big players some with egos. Neither Dyche or Moyes handle egos or big players. Moyes proved this at Man Utd and in Spain. Both build sides with workhorses and then when gone someone has a mess to sort out. I said some months ago Moyes was not the answer for long term success and nothing has changed my mind. So we enter the final games next week and wonder where we will end up. At least not in the Championship.

Will all change next season Nick, Davey will be be with several new recruits mate, exciting times am glad this season is almost over and he can rebuild in the summer, we stayed up end of mission for him.

Moyes may well see them all in training but that does not always equate to which players to give time to. I read week in week out how improved in training Harrison is, gets to match time and he is consistently lacking. He may well run his legs off, but when it comes to crossing a ball he is rubbish. We need to give game time to Alcarez, Chermiti, Tim not to mention several in the under 21 team.

Get used to it, I wouldn't expect much to change next season under DM.

Of course it does we only see part of it he sees it all, would prefer his judgement myself, but only my opinion also let’s see who comes in in the summer and just as important who goes then we can have a gripe YY.

Yes SD would have kept us up but we wouldn't be safe yet and if you think that being safe on last day is acceptable then you're mad. Moyes clearly has saved us and saved the fans from the doom. And for the 3rd time in 4 weeks I'll end with "raised form breeds raised expectations" DMs going to get a predictable backlash now but until we sign some new players, we have what we have. I agree Alcarez should play more but clearly something with his deal and the financials is being played out and why not as we are safe. Barely any of us can name a youth player let alone a few to step up as we don't have any close enough. Also we have had 5 seriously tough opponents. I'm chuffed generally but now it's all about next season. This ones done. Still think we get a few more wins and will be in mid 40s and SD would be nowhere near that haul. Get real.

Dyche this season didn't remotely look like getting us to 15th. TFG made the right call at the right time and it worked out forbtheir investment.

Yam Yam, which several u21 players should get game time?

Agree0 0Disagree

27 Apr 2025 10:43:32
Martin Sharif, Omari Benjamin, Roman Dixon to name but 3. Our current strike force week in week out sadly lacking, we could do worse than giving these guys a shot. Same with Dixon. Ok they might make mistakes but it’s all about getting experience and seeing how these guys can step up. We have nothing to lose in our last few games and who knows we might be surprised.

{Ed025's Note - i think your right YY and cant believe we are playing the same 11 virtually every week mate, i dont want to have a go at at the manager because he has done well results wise but should he really be playing players who have no future with us?, or do Leopards never change their spots?, we will certainly have a better clue when next season starts when hopefully we will have cleared out the dross and brought in some good players..

Agree1 0Disagree

27 Apr 2025 16:49:14
I don't think we should have an under 21 team. We should play the u18s there instead as it will teach them how to play against bigger, stronger, faster players as i find u21 to be sterile and doesn't provide the appropriate schooling for young players.

Any players they thunk potentially able to make the first team they could send on loan to Championship or abroad to prove they can make it. The list of previous players proves this to be a more effective method to develop players.

The one answer to concern about Moyes. Our new owner are not big on sentementalty, they have shown at Roma, if the manager does not deliver, afder they have put in squad building support, he is very quickly, down the road, regardless of their attachment to the clubs history.
So, I am far from convinced the he is the man to return Everton to football's top table, but the proof of the pudding will quickly show in the results, but please, no more players brought in at the fag end of their sell by date, big contracts that if they don't deliver, cannot be moved on because they are on redicles wages.

DM has given us what some of the fans, me included, thought was beyond our capabilities, that is PL football at BMD.
When I read stuff about the Hammers and the predicament they are in now and how Potter has pretty much failed to ignite them, I wonder what's next for us, TFG as previously mentioned seem to put results before over sentimentality etc. .
Our new stadium plus investment in new players will certainly be a new benchmark for the supporters and owners alike, I hope David Moyes does well next season, I really do because I am sure the scrutiny dial will be turned up a tad.

Just hope he returns next season and plays better than some of this season.

In the meantime, we need to be spared from Michael Keane and his error strewn game management and defending (or lack of it). Play O’Brien in the centre and put Patto, Coleman, Garner or Young (in that order) at RB.

Isn’t he 30 this year? No real experience outside of France which isn’t exactly the most competitive league. I am hoping we move away from this type of signing unless he is a cheap stop gap until we can get in someone young with potential that has resale value.

Be amazed if this gets to court - will have massive implications for the premier league if does go ahead and will potentially lead to other clubs challenging each other and make a mockery of the premier league.

There is no way the Prenier league will want it’s brand tarnished by this which is what would happen.

Not sure what this means but it means something! US fund manager Christopher Sarofim, a minority owner of the NFL’s Houston Texans, has joined the board of Everton FC after buying into the club’s ownership group.

Sarofim, 63, is chairman of Fayez Sarofim and Co, a fund set up by his father which manages $30bn in assets, and a friend of new Everton owner Dan Friedkin.

He has bought an undisclosed minority stake in Roundhouse Capital, which Friedkin set up to buy the Premier League club last year, and will become a board observer at Everton.

“Christopher Sarofim is someone I have known and respected for many years, ” said Friedkin.

Fans shouldn’t get excited and think this appointment will mean more money to spend.

Its a sensible appointment of an experienced businessman who will bring a wealth of experience which will hopefully stand the club in good stead for further investment and development - it won’t see his money being used to bolster the squad.

Reading that we could get a cut price deal on Tom Fellows, be a good start to much needed new recruits.

{Ed025's Note - that would be a good start GB, i would like us to get some business done early myself mate because it seem that in previous seasons we have been waiting for scraps from clubs who have done deals early, lets hope these new owners buck that trend..

Do any Eds think we have a chance of signing Liam Delap?

I think the likes of Tom Fellows and Charlie Alcarez would be brilliant acquisitions but somebody like Delap would be an amazing marquee signing going into BMD.

If he goes to city, then good luck to the kid. He could be playing week out for Everton. Rather than stuck on the bench for city.

21 Apr 2025 23:02:18
Cookie you genuinely think we’d let Branthwaite go for £30m and the option to loan Delap for a season?

That’s like a £40m package tops!

Think the only way Branthwaite goes to city and we did actually want Delap then it would be Delap coming to us on a permanent plus something like £40m cash and a sell on fee included in any future sale of Delap.

Branthwaite all day long is a £70m+ player.

No way is Delap currently worth more than £30m based on one season in the league.

Agree0 0Disagree

22 Apr 2025 17:25:13
I said that would be city's initial offer. Think it will end up at 50-60m plus Delap on loan for year before we accept. But I don't know just a feeling.

23 Apr 2025 22:33:13
Sorry cookie didn’t see anything regarding an “initial” offer just read what you’d written.

Will be interesting to see what happens with JB - unfortunately think there’ll be a lot of interest in him this closed season - hopefully don’t need to sell but if we do decide to we should be in a decent position to negotiate for once.

Who ever knows for sure but I agree, he's been immense the last 18 months after a below par first season back. Spurs, perennial also ranes, and United are in a whole dug by mister Radcliffe ( and long my it continue)

16 Apr 2025 00:13:13
I would understand if he picked Chelsea over us Ron. London, more recent success, higher wages. We have improved under Davey but our squad is still poor.

If Spurs want to take Myko, I would be all for it. Average fullback that needs replacing if we want to kick on next year and challenge for top half/ Europe. There are 10 left backs better than him, which by that logic, means we need an upgrade.

Agree1 0Disagree

16 Apr 2025 07:31:19
Oh no i totally agree about delap preferring Chelsea but can't see spurs wanting myko they like attacking fullbacks. Both team's will probably have new managers in the summer aswell.

Myko has been solid since moysey came back we have the best defence in that league wouldn't want to break it up. salah never got a sniff in the two derby's maybe spuds are seeing that.

Agree1 0Disagree

16 Apr 2025 14:10:50
I think he is reaping the rewards of the other 4 in that defence tbh TL.

I will never knock Myko as he tries his hardest but there is just no escaping how limited he is for me. Totally agree Ron, the amount of chances/ goals conceded as a result is concerning.

I think it is very achievable to get somebody in who is as solid defensively but offers more on the ball and going forward. As I say, there are comfortably 10 better than him in this league, let alone further afield.

Agree2 0Disagree

16 Apr 2025 16:33:56
To be fair to him I thought he did a great job on Salah at Anfield. Also when he first came to us he got forward a lot. Maybe working under Dyche has taken the edge off the lad?

Agree0 0Disagree

16 Apr 2025 17:50:45
Do you reckon so Brass.

I think he is dreadful going forward. No ability on the ball to beat a man or deliver it. 1 assist per season on average in roughly 3 seasons is so poor in todays game.

One of the easiest positions for us to improve this summer. It would have been the same on the other flank had Moyes not played a masterstroke in playing Big Jake there.

Again, nothing personal against Myko as he tries within his limits but his limits are very apparent.

Agree0 0Disagree

16 Apr 2025 20:17:52
So have a go at Micky because he doesn’t get forward and cross a ball, but O’Brien who doesn’t get forward and cross a ball is doing great?

Agree0 0Disagree

16 Apr 2025 22:17:52
Just saying he did a good job on Salah at Anfield. On another point it might help him get forward more if we had some consistency from our wide men. We rotate them more than a pig on a spit.

Agree0 0Disagree

17 Apr 2025 13:32:08
Have a go? Can you not read plain English. Not once but twice did I say it wasn't personal. You do realise that you can pass an opinion on a player without "having a go" don't you?

Bit of a strange thing to compare the two of them but hey, you did, so may as well break it down.

O'Brien has played 12 games, Myko over 100. One is playing in his actual position and one is being asked to fill in as a makeshift RB. One has scored 0 goals and 0 has scored 2. One is in his first season after being practically abused by the previous manager and one is in his 4th.

Agree2 0Disagree

19 Apr 2025 06:59:29
Certainly getting forward more under our refreshed coaching staff. I never rated Bainesy as a fullback but great as a wingback particularly with peanut. O'brien is earmarked as in a future CB partnership and has benefitted by having non-other than Harrison in front of him. See what our Summer brings. A massive ask but RB, RW, LB, CM and Striker needed but where do the funds come from?
