Any of the Ed’s able to shed any light on our rumoured interest in Gavin Bazuna - goalkeeper?

With begovic signing a one year contract extension and Harry Tryer in the under 23s supposedly highly regarded if there is genuine interest in Bazuna would it be as a replacement for Pickford?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Gavin Bazuna (G) Southampton have enquired whether Manchester City would sell.}

With speculation ramping up today that Lewin will be heading to Newcastle what are fellow fans views mine is anything over 50 mill snap their hands off also will Lewin see Newcastle as a step up as they are miles away from challenging top 6 and I feel we will sell Richy and a few others like Mina and Gomes and we will be quite active in the market.

Believable0 0Unbelievable

12 May 2022 18:55:17
Well if he performs like he did last season 50M might be a fair price. However he has done nothing this year to suggest he his worth anything near that amount. I know that he has been injured but when he has played he has done very little to indicate that value. II would take the 50M if offered but II doubt any team would pay that amount for him, in which case he probably stays with us for next season.

12 May 2022 20:35:06
My only hope Bluemike is Newcastle are rich so straight away prices go up like they did for us and if they do want him we will drive a hard bargain.

12 May 2022 21:28:14
I think this season has been a total write off for him with injuries and then how team was set up.

Wouldn’t want to see him leave as he’s a decent player and when team set up to provide him with service he’ll get goals - last season prime example.

Would hate for him to go to Newcastle and then see him bang the goals in - they love a no9 and know how to set up a team to get the best out of one. Could easily see him banging 20+ goals for them a season.

Will all depend on money offered and how bad a financial situation we are in if we have to sell.

Replacing his goals from last season won’t be easy if he does go.

Agree2 0Disagree

12 May 2022 23:23:23
Easy to replace the ones he’s scored this season though. If he’s keen to go, let him go. There’ll be more than one team interested so we should get decent money, which we need.

Agree0 0Disagree

13 May 2022 06:13:01
For me, it depends on his injuries. If his niggles are in places that are more likely to reoccur and classify him as injury prone, I’d sell. £50m would be a decent amount - if it’s Newcastle, you could get more as we’ve been held ransom over players we want once the money arrived. If his injuries are genuine one-off injuries, I’d consider keeping him.

The question for me is who would you get in with the money? I’d look at CBs as our priority but then again, we’ll need someone up front if Richy goes as well.

It feels like a turbulent summer awaits….

13 May 2022 09:20:13
Looks like Frank will have to find a new team next season as according to the papers DCL to Newcastle plus Godfrey, Gordon and Richy to Suprs. So our main striker, best young prospect, our best outfield player and according to Frank our 1st choice CB will all need to be replaced. Its amazing what tripe the media put out when they can't fill the airwaves with plaudits for their two favourite teams.

Agree0 0Disagree

13 May 2022 11:19:37
Can't see us selling Gordon Godfrey or any of the young players and that includes Holgate as Lampard seems to like him I can see us selling or trying to sell
Pickford (if a big offer comes in)
Mina
Keane
Gomes
Alan
Gbamin
Lewin (if a stupid bid comes in)
Richy (deserves to play at a higher level)
Our of contract (yearly wage)
Delph 4.1 mill saved
Sigs 5 2 mill saved
Tosun 3.2 mill saved

Either way that's a lot of wages saved over the last two years and if we sell a few it all helps towards FFP and I know we have a massive debt but that's to Moshiri so I'm not including that as while he is willing to carry that debt although unhealthy and unsustainable we shouldn't need to worry about that at the minute.

Agree0 0Disagree

13 May 2022 11:46:25
Hard to judge him too harshly on an injury wrecked season. He was worth more than that last year but way less the rest of the time. Still don't want him to go but if he wants to.

Would be less disappointed than the last time we sold an injury-prone no9 to Newcastle. but Dunc did come back.

Think you’re spot on there lampardstheman.

Keep Godfrey, Gordon, Holgate, branthwaite, mykolenko and sell the ones you’ve mentioned.

If Ricky, Pickford and DCL want to stay then great - if they want to go then ensure it’s a decent fee.

13 May 2022 15:35:51
Think some are being a bit harsh over how he has performed this year. He has had a few injuries to contend with and, in my opinion, he was rushed back too soon which only resulted in him being out for longer. He was top notch last season so I don't think we should be quick to move him on just yet.
That said, due to our precarious financial situation, I do think we are going to get rid of a lot of players this summer and begin a rebuild. its needed big time, some of this squad have flattered to deceive for too long and need moving on. We've got to hope that our recruitment has improved drastically from previous years under FM.

Agree1 0Disagree

13 May 2022 15:48:41
Frankly anyone under contract who has the ability to raise a profit will be potentially for sale. If the offers come, everyone is available. Big summer window and the fact a load of players are out of contract this summer also helps. Rebuild needed. Build it around our 2 GS. Gordon and Godfrey and cash in the rest. If we can keep Pickford and Richarlson great but I think they'll be 1st out of the door and fair play to them if they decide to go. Been great for us.

14 May 2022 09:53:22
If they want to go then sell them. that's been our problem for years. Hanging on to mediocre players who underperform week in week out on massive wages. They are superstars without actually achieving anything. Rip it up and start again. Richarlison deserves to play at a higher level? Really? He disappeared for 3 quarters of the season! DCL an absolute 1 season wonder and now he wants to go to arsenal? Why? Better chance of mixing it with other prima donnas based in London? Get rid and start again. Invest in young hungry players who concentrate on football rather than fashion. Get players who do it on the pitch rather than say the right things off it. Sick and tired of our club buying these "big name" big salary players. Go back to basics. Get winners. Get players who are focused and committed. That 80s team was full of unheard of names. No superstars until they played together as a team and achieved success. BACK TO BASICS PLEASE!

Sell the whole lot they are an embarrassment to the thousands of fans who stood outside that ground for 3 hours and sang their heart out. I was one of them and I must say I loved every min of it. Then I take my seat inside the ground and watch Pickford hoof the ball down the pitch to no one. It’s 2022 football has moved on not once did he pass it out. If 12year olds done that now their coach would ask them what the heck are yous doing this isn’t football it’s rugby.

Wondering if the Ed can tell us anything about Calvert Lewin moving on? And if he was to go I'd be trying to get Eddie Nketiah as his replacement on a free too! Probably has bigger clubs in better positions looking at him.

{Ed002's Note - Dominic Calvert-Lewin (S) with Everton in need of adding a striker the chances of DCL being sold unless a very significant offer arises are small. However, Arsenal are still looking for a striker and interest remains. The Real Madrid coach has said he is one of the rare English players who he thinks would take to football on the continent - so there may be interest. Other clubs looking for a striker such as Spurs and Newcastle have other preferred options. Manchester United may also provide an option.
Eddie Nketiah (S) Will look to other options in the summer. Bayer Leverkusen, Brentford, Borussia Muenchegladbach and West Ham might provide options, Leeds perhaps another. Has been offered to Newcastle, who need another striker still, and Crystal Palace as well. Free Agent in the summer. Arsenal are trying to have him sign a new deal. West Ham and Crystal Palace are likely the preferred options, and he would be a starter.}

Hi Ed
How many of these do you expect to leave this summer
Pick ford
Mind
Holgate
Kenny
Games
Allan
Gambin
Random
Tosun
Micheal Keane
Mouse Keane
Dcl
Richardson
Sigurdson

Also with finances being tight do you think simms and dobbin will get their chance. the wage bill should be greatly reduced if most of these leave in the summer.

{Ed002's Note - 8 or 9 plus probably four others you have not mentioned.}

Believable0 0Unbelievable

08 May 2022 10:35:31
Ed, if 8/ 9 leave and with our huge FFP issues, I assume it will be youth and free transfers we have to rely on to plug the gap and form a new squad?
If that’s the case, if we don’t go down this season we surely will next!

{Ed002's Note - Not entirely.}

Agree0 0Disagree

08 May 2022 13:24:43
There’s plenty of good players in the free transfer and loan market. It’s not just recouping fees for players, which we can with a few, it’s getting high wages off the books. Allan, Siggy, Gomes etc. We should still be able to invest in the squad, and live within FFP. Others do. No idea why anyone thinks that getting rid of that bunch and having others in would mean we’ll go down. Fully expect us to be more competitive next season.

I'd like Richarlison and Pickford to stay out of them. Sell the rest. I think we will sell Richarlison though. If he wants to go, I won't blame him but thank him for his service as he works his socks off every time he pulls on that Everton shirt. If Pickford and Richarlison go then it will be a big blow, no just for their skill but for their hard work and passion.

Think we’d be lucky to get £50m for DCL after this season. Did he do a Jelavic? One season wonder? I’d also prefer Richarlison to stay as he offers more.

What we need is a CB to marshal the back line and CMs. A back up CF better than Rondon is also a must.

Think we may have to dip into the Loan market to try and get some CM backup.

Before we do any of this though - we need to avoid the drop.

08 May 2022 22:03:02
Think you’re optimistic with those fees you’re suggesting. No chance get anywhere near those fees for any of them.

Personally would hope sporting sign Virginia - been with us ages and never shifted Pickford, would rather see Tryer given understudy duty.

Holgate would keep, erratic at times but think he’s starting to show his worth.

Hey Ed, any more info on us being linked with Ryan Kent from Rangers and Josh Brownhill from Burnley?

{Ed002's Note - Josh Brownhill (CM/DM) West Ham had an interest when he was at Bristol City. Leeds have him on a list of options if they lose Phillips. Watched by Everton and Aston Ailla but perhaps not first choice for either.
Ryan Kent (W) Leeds have a sustained interest and will certainly follow up with another offer in the summer. Fulham may offer an option. Rangers will try and get a new contract agreed.}

ED02 say we sell Richy Lewin and Pickford would that sort our financial issues out as according to Richard Buxton (reliable Journalist) he stated our losses are 85 mill which is under the 105 mill limit due to C.V. and the stadium costs and the FA have accepted these figures.

{Ed002's Note - He is wrong - Everton have huge debt and huge losses. I have no idea where that £85M figure comes from and the £105M figure is not an annual amount. Perhaps he is teasing you?}

Cheers ED02 just something he posted on his account he said when you take in to account the stadium costs and cost of C.V. our losses are 85 mill so under the 105 limit. It looks like we will have to sell and start again either way we are far too reliant on Moshiri which doesn't bode well for the future.

We’ll need the cash to rebuild whether we go down or not. He’s shown in the past that there’s a good player in there, but he’s far from irreplaceable. If he doesn’t have the bottle for the fight, he’s welcome to move on. You’d expect a good price as others will join in the bidding for sure.

Hiss attitude has been bad all year, either injured or looking as if he did not care a toss when he played. Now when we need all the players to step up and help us avoid the drop he comes out with this. Get rid, the sooner the better and get someone in who cares about the club. I wish we had a Dave Hickson type player who would take a few pain pills and get out there and help us win games. London would be a good place for DCL, he could do his modeling stuff and get on the subs bench like Barkley, another player who thought he was better than he is.

Agree with Wakka and Lamps here. It’s no wonder he would want out with this kind of toxicity. Wouldn’t blame him. Cut the man a break, he’s had a brutal injury hit season and come into a side that’s battling relegation under a new manager. Not exactly the easiest conditions for him to perform. While he’s an Everton player, we need to back him. I don’t understand why so many insist on bringing our players further down when they need uplifting. Of course, comments and criticism are valid and deserved, but there’s no need for them to devolve into personal attacks.

Agree with what you say Tmh, also add to that the service he has received when he’s actually played has been non-existent.

I do question whether all the abuse he is now taking is more to do with the fact that he’s willing to challenge conventions with his fashion choices etc. rather than his form.

I for one couldn’t give a stuff what he wears and what fashion shoots he does. Good luck to him.

However I would like him to score goals for us, but through injuries, change of manager, change of formation, lack of service he hasn’t done it this season.

I don’t think he’s lost it just this season has conspired against him. Very similar to what has happened with Patrick Bamford at Leeds - however doubt he takes as much flak from their fans as he’s not on the front of magazines or wearing clothes some fans don’t approve of.

If he does go this window then it’ll be disappointing but not surprising - I’m sure he’ll be able to find a fan base that will support him and not abuse him just because his sense of style is different to theirs.

Coached by Dunc, or so DCL says, My view DCL looks like Rondons Grandson. No way DCL can emulate DF and Everton don't play that way. Not going Sunday (given away to a masochist) , off to Pub with Son to get royally. Worked and played football all over the World as an aside, amateur and semi-pro, I can honestly say some of those would have kicked this lots arses.

Start with Rondon, let him get himself about, then if fit, bring Calvert-Lewin on, in the second half if needed.

I heard it’s Newcastle interested in DCL
I’m a bit torn on it myself, last season he grabbed the goals, this season he’s had a nightmare with injuries
If say Newcastle came in with a good offer it could give Frank money for some young hungry talent
Also seen that West Ham are interested in Keane.

Agree0 0Disagree

02 May 2022 11:08:57
I imagine will all depend on whether we stay in the league on who stays and who goes.

If we stay up then West Ham won’t be in for Keane.

DCL and Ricky prices will be decent and may put a few suitors off.

However imagine will have to sell atleast one of them to help with balancing books and our ffp issue.

If we go down then imagine it will be a fire sale and imagine all players will be available for a price.

As for suggestion of lukaku back on loan if we sell DCL - what a joke. He clearly wants to go back to Italy, he’s on massive wages, can’t get in Chelsea team ahead of Werner who can’t score, looks completely disinterested and I feel would be a disaster for us.

If we sell DCL then think club should genuinely give Dobbin or simms a go. They could be the answer and would cost us nothing, as realistically trying to buy a 20 goal a season striker will be crazy money and not help with ffp situation.
