Ed's do you know if there's any truth in rumours that Monaco are to recall sidibe back from his loan with us.

{Ed002's Note - Djibril Sidibe (RB) wants out and Everton are very unlikely to take up their option - Monaco have Milan saying they will take him on a loan to buy in January. It would be best for the player.}

How much do attitudes such as Sidibe’s have on other players? Not that i'm blaming him for wantibg out.

{Ed002's Note - Sidibe doesn’t have an attitude problem Hugo. Players are transient employees of the club and it is not at all uncommon to find players unhappy they are not playing.)

More rumours circulating this morning re a new manager, the latest being Shaktar Donesetsk Jose Boto stating Marco has three games to turn our very poor start around, these being West Ham and Brighton in the League and then Watford in the Cup, in another report Jose is once again being linked that he has already found another Club in England with it being touted that he would have more money with us to buy players as against Spurs, personally I don't think Marco will get Three games to me West Ham could well be his last match if we loose he will be gone.

GB not sure why we’d look to appoint a guy who has been a chief scout for the last 9 years, surely we should be looking for an actual manager?

{Ed002's Note - There would be no intention of appointing Jose Boto as a coach - if his name has come up at Everton I know exactly who would have put it to the owner. I am not aware of any approach to Shakhtar Donetsk but Boto is well thought of as a Head of Scouting.}

Now being reported that that he would offered a role under Marcel in an attempt to a reshuffle.

{Ed002's Note - A reshuffle of what - the coaching set up?}

Agree0 0Disagree

11 Oct 2019 15:42:50
It just says he would be put in the scouting under Marcel as he was very well versed when it came to finding talent from Brazil.

{Ed002's Note - Really, what a strange thing to say. He is a well respected scout who works as a. Head of scouting. If Everton intend to simply throw him in on that basis, if he were to consider the drop in level to Everton, don’t expect him to hang around for too long.}

A name I've not seen mentioned as manager if/ when Silva departs, is Gareth Southgate.
I'm sure i read a few months ago that he would like another shot at club management.
Does anybody know if he would be in contention? Thoughts on getting him?
Personally i am concerned by his previous club stints, but he really seems to be blooming since taking over England.

Decent shout Worcester.

{Ed002's Note - You can put Gareth Southgate out of your thoughts. He won't be joining Everton.}

Thats a shame, but i guess with a big international tournament on the horizon, it really isn't a surprise. More likely available next summer after the Euros?
I think my other big shout of someone who could do a great job is Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds. High quality manager and really have no idea why he took a job in the Championship.
Let's face facts though, Silva could well stay for the rest of the year. It only takes 3 or 4 good results to turn things around and this team is more than capable of that! I really wouldn't be surprised to see him finish the season with us, a mid table finish but adding a cup, he seems to be going all out for the Carabao judging by starting line-ups.

Ok Charlie, never employ another ex England manager again regardless of how amazing they could be. Very intelligent thinking to rule people out because Allardyce was once a manager there.

Gallardo, the Ajax manager or Benitez for me.

11 Oct 2019 01:47:27
I don’t think Southgate would leave the England job nor would he be sacked easily, as he was coached specifically for that job for years. All from coaching youth England teams to U21’s specifically brought through by the FA to do things how they want going forward (basically a yes man) Working so far!

Mourinho for me as we can’t risk taking a chance on another unknown or up and coming manager. The excuses need to stop and Mourinho or Benitez are proven at the top.

A huge no. International football is so different to club football. Look at Martinez. People forget how bad of a manager he was at club level because he's more successful in an international set up with Belgium.

{Ed025's Note - i still think if he could have sorted our defence out he would still be with us BT, offensively he was very good and we played attractive stuff but he needed help with the back four which was awful, we have become a graveyard for managers who all get bogged down by the weight of expectation mate and it will need someone very special to buck that trend..

Agree0 0Disagree

13 Oct 2019 19:17:54
Martinez was and is an excellent footballing coach, if only as Ed says he (Martinez) had sought a decent defensive coach, he would still be here. Martinez was asked to leave while we were 11th, we are currently 18th yet this guy continues to be teflon coated.

Why do we all keep quoting these top managers names? . why would they risk the poisoned chalice that is EFC?
There is something rotten deep within the club that means we will always be mid table flirting with 8th place at best.

We will not get relegated nor will we progress as we cannot compete with the heavyweights such as Bournemouth and West ham for the Europa places.
A disgrace of a club from the players up to management.
Something significant needs to change or we'll be having the same conversation in 10 years time.

Whilst I understand why you are having a rant. You have drifted into just nonsense.

Poisened chalice you say? Moyes went onto to be United manager, Koeman and Martinez both landed top international jobs. Allardyyce certainly didn't harm himself either. Despite the performances in the pitch, we will still be able to attract managers.

However, just like the 20 goal striker, these 'top' managers simply don't exist in the abundance many on this site would have you believe.

So many times the question of who is asked, and other than Rafa who is clearly not the answer very few names are ever touted.

We shout about needing Premier league experience blah blah, but how many of the managers at the top clubs had it when they joined? Pep, no, Klopp, no, Emery, no, Lampard, no, yes a couple did the majority cut there cloth at the top European clubs before having success here. And we will not attract Champions league winning coaches. So we have to be a bit more speculative.

How many current Premier league coaches would you opt for if given the choice? Howe - maybe, the rest - no.

Be nice to see if Kean was a 20 goal a season striker to be fair but it seems like our manager would rather spend millions on a bench.

Wow. relegation zone, 5 losses already, cannot score, cannot defend. we are in a mess.
What to do? . let him go? What's the alternative? . keep him in place? . and risk the real threat of relegation cos that's where we are at present.
Allardyce must be laughing his socks off while counting his millions!
We are a joke a laughing stock and I honestly cannot see how we fix it!
May be premature but RIP Everton football club as we know it!
Disgrace.

Why are you worried Trev. Silva has stated that he is not worried and he has talked to Moshiri twice and they all believe that Silva can turn things around by using the well proven tactics employed so far this season. Presumably that means keeping the faith in the present favorites, zonal marking, utilizing a single striker and not practicing set pieces.

Silva looks to me like he's lost the confidence of the players. On paper our strongest 11 is a match for any team in the premier at the moment but every team we play seem to just want it more!

I've always said give him time but I can't see any belief in the players or manager that things are changing, I think time for a change with a manager that brands wants hopefully someone with the passion that this club needs on the touch line and brave enough to make the big decisions in a game rather than going through the same tactics and same lack lustre performances week in week out.

Believable7 0Unbelievable

06 Oct 2019 19:05:16
Brands needs to go too can't come out of this unscathed as these are his signings. Silva is poor but working with terrible players that cost a fortune to assemble which is brands faultso they should both be removed.

06 Oct 2019 21:05:40
Do we just buy players by trawling statistics? As we seem to buy too many square pegs for round holes.

06 Oct 2019 21:44:07
To be fair I think we are currently going through the pain of poor player recruitment from other regimes which I feel hampered out activity on player recruitment.
Having said that I think we dilly rallied too long on the Zouma hope and that cost us plus we didn’t get a striker who would deliver now, or perhaps we did but just don’t play to their strengths 🤷🏻‍♂️
Talking of which, this zonal marking keeps coming out as part of our woes, maybe our personnel aren’t capable of that And other teams work out how to exploit the gaps we leave 🤦🏻‍♂️.

Agree1 0Disagree

07 Oct 2019 14:48:22
The defence was fine end of last season with same defensive tactics. Injuries to midfield and missing Zouma imho. Fixable although does seem awful at the moment. The majority where all overjoyed with summer recruitment so can't all now going it was rubbish just because we had a bad spell. Keep together cheer our hearts out bring back ty here confidence and we will come back stronger. In minority I know but don't get rid of silva. If we did that after a few bad matches we would turn into Watford.

Agree1 0Disagree

07 Oct 2019 21:14:31
I’m not saying the summer recruitment was rubbish I like Iwobi Delph Kean and Gbamin there’s just something not right with the way we are playing end of last season the team seemed up for it, and Gueye was bossing the middle of the park! Clearly miss his energy.
We could turn the corner again but then again we may have done that too many times already.
