got to be a busy summer with a good clear out:stekelenberg, baines, jags, mccarthy, tosun, walcott, bolaisie, niasse, dowell, ramirez, williams, pennington, garbutt, martina, besic, vlasic, mirallas, tarashaj will or will want to go, maybe even gueye as well. slashing the wage bill for new passionate blood hopefully.

1.) 30 Mar 2019 20:53:45
Hope not Gueye he one of the best players.

12 Jan 2018 09:30:07
allerdyce admits walcott interest.

1.) 12 Jan 2018 10:50:12
I would have him all day long.

{Ed025's Note - me too bluey..

2.) 12 Jan 2018 11:24:54
Not too keen myself, but he is better than lennon.

3.) 12 Jan 2018 12:33:04
me too folks, excellent recruit.

4.) 12 Jan 2018 12:53:30
He’d give us options but I hope it doesn’t look as though I think he was it of Bolasie or Lookman whose best years are still to come. I’m still worried about lack of a tall striker with a good head. No point focusing on winners who can cross if your strikers are all under six foot.

{Ed025's Note - tosun has a leap like sock eyed salmon windsor so i dont think thats a problem mate..

5.) 12 Jan 2018 13:28:23
Height not an issue if the quality is there. Just look at Barcelona.

{Ed025's Note - fair point woburn..

15 Nov 2017 10:08:17
fed up with all this manager talk, silva double his wages, allerdyce wants long term, simeone untouchable, dyche don't want to leave burnley. unsworth definitely wants it, ancellotti wants premiership football. what is going on, my head is spinning. what about ancelotti manager and unsworth reserve manager, experience for unsworth too learn a manger that can quality players.

{Ed002's Note - Ancelotti has other far better options right now and his interest in in another job. I think a move to Everton is very, very unlikely.}

1.) 15 Nov 2017 10:56:04
The one that really got away was Irvine going to west ham, I would have liked him back at Everton in some capacity. Maybe not as manager but would be an experienced assistant to a young coach. Or maybe as director of football.

2.) 15 Nov 2017 10:59:19
Who do consider to be the front runners at the moment ed? . If there are any? . You mentioned Fonseca (al be it a long shot! ) the other day but nothing in the papers, are the wrags way off with our targets? .

{Ed002's Note - I did not say Fonesca was going to be joining. Right now we know that Moshiri has switched his attention to Silva and Everton has used a third party to approach Watford. So clearly he is possible. We also know that Kenwright would like Unsworth to be given a chance - quite how Unsworth feels about the club looking to others I don't know. But Kenright could win out. Dyche would be a very good option because he is a strong character and could deal well with the Director of Football. Allardyce would be a good option to sort out the defence and get the team safe and settled - a strong character again but don't expect the football to be too attractive, and that is the likely reason that Walsh is being ignored. One wonders if Moshiri is talking to someone else regarding these choices he has, but I don't think any decent advisor would suggest a side looking for stability should be looking to a coach who has had three jobs in 18 months. Right now these are the more likely options. Of couse there is every chance Tony Pulis will become available very soon.}

3.) 15 Nov 2017 11:13:28
Oh god don’t say that ed!

Ed002 do you have any info on Emery, Simeone or Tuschal in regards to their availability now or at the end of the season and if Everton have shown interest in any?

Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - Mancini has financial demands that Everton would likely not meet and he would almost certainly want a Champions League team or a National side - a chance that might come along in the near future. Tuchel has a proposal in front of him from another side (which is likely not to be acceptable) but he almost certainly won't be looking towards a club such as Everton - but he is available. Why would Simeone leave a club where he has had enormous success, is playing a beautiful new stadium (which he showed me around whilst it was being built) for a side who is not in the Champions League and a side that has prospects of getting there blocked by at least half a dozen other sides? Whilst he may well be available in the coming summer or the next, he knows he will have other offers. Maybe he will join Griezmann at Barcelona? Perhaps the Chelsea job beckons? Or maybe he will join the Spanish revolution that is coming at Arsenal?}

4.) 15 Nov 2017 11:41:41
Have to agree with you Ed Everton is not a super attractable proposition at the moment which will limit the candidates wishing to take the job.

5.) 15 Nov 2017 12:46:58
I didn't say you said fonseca was joining ed, I was referring to your post last week when you said he was Moshiri's choice. Thanks for the info.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

6.) 15 Nov 2017 19:29:55
Hi Ed002. Ancelotti is favourite for the newly vacant Italy job. Can you see him getting that?

{Ed002's Note - Well, I am not so sure that Everton is top of the list.}

7.) 15 Nov 2017 23:35:51
Is that a cryptic maybe?

{Ed002's Note - Should have read Ancelotti.}

so with this debate about should we play youngsters or not
1.could ruin there progress
2.could be the beginning of something big
3.with all our under 23 under 18s i don't see many coming through to the 1st squad
4.over 20s has not progressed even in to a good championship player.
5.instead of getting a run in the 1st team teams would rather go and buy talent, ban the winter transfer market.
6.my opinion give them a go, might have rashford, rice, ward prowse or better.

1.) 28 Mar 2019 11:57:05
I am in favour of giving youngsters a go, they should certainly be on the bench and exposed to the first team. Of course Silva does not seem to do this and is another black mark against him.
What is the good of having a youth team if the lads never get a chance?
Klopp has proved it can be done at Liverpool.

2.) 28 Mar 2019 13:23:10
Silva doesn't give youth a chance?

On average, we have the youngest starting XI in the premier league this season (alongside Southampton under Hasenhuttl and Fulham) .

I actually think Silva has got a very good blend of youth and experience in the squad.

Pickford is very young for a premier league GK (25) - only Kepa is younger (by 6 months! ) 1st choice in the league.

Zouma, Mina, Digne are all 25 or under. Keane has only just turned 26. Kenny is 22 and played 10 times this season. Again - very young average age for a defence (supplemented by experience of Jags, Baines and Seamus) .

Andre Gomes is 25. Davies is 20 and played 15 times this season already. Again supplemented by experience of Siggy and Gueye.

Richarlison is 21 (with 8 caps for Brazil) , DCL is 22 (just! ) . Bernard is only 26. Again supplemented by more experience of Theo and Cenk. And of course there is Lookman who should be getting more game time.

And of all of Brands/ Silva's signings, Bernard was the oldest at 25 (at the time he signed) .

While most of these aren't raw youngsters, most of them have their best years ahead of them in the next 5-6 years

And of course we have Dowell, Vlasic, Holgate, Williams, Onyekeru, Robinson and Baningime all out on loan getting invaluable experience.

You can accuse Silva of a lot of things - but not giving youth a chance is not one of them.

3.) 28 Mar 2019 14:13:29
Silva has reduced the average age of our squad this season and it is now one of the youngest in the prem it is also over a year younger than Liverpools. Forget Klopp, apart from TAA he has paid for his young talent. And none of them played in his first season in charge.

At the same time Silva has given plenty of playing time to the likes of DCL and Davies for their age.
Lookman has had game time but failed to deliver consistently and Dowell was given a chance but it was evident he isn't ready. Kenny stayed in the squad.

Of the ones that were brought up only Holgate and Kenny look capable of stepping up and possibly Baningime.
Pennington and garbutt and the like aren't going to make it.

Brands watches the youth team games and hasn't felt the need to move anyone up but i'm guessing the supporters know better.

And this is the problem, some supporters want the moon on a stick.
They cry out for a higher league position year on year but expect us to do it with half the U23s getting game time.
And if we don't improve league position they will be calling for the managers head. Oh and if we do improve our league position he will be vilified for not blooding more U23s.

People change their mind like the wind. They don't want pretty entertaining football and a project, they want the Allardyce boring tripe and the possibility of drawing 30 games a season and winning 8 because it might get us 7th. But they also want it done with the U23s.

4.) 28 Mar 2019 16:59:44
Simple really, we have to give him time, good post Smit.

5.) 28 Mar 2019 19:59:33
You must be watching different games as far as Lookman is concerned. When he had a run of four consequative games he was man of the match in three!
He should always be starting ahead of Walcott who has been poor all season and offers nothing to the team.
Both Lookman and DCL should be given the opportunity to fulfill their enormous potential to the benefit of EFC.

6.) 28 Mar 2019 20:47:32
Well I'll take your word for it Fancy because I don't remember him starting 4 consecutive games.
He has looked good in games he has come on but when he's started the odd game he hasn't impressed. As for 3 man of the match awards I'm guessing that's your perception and would be interested to know which games you think he has been man of the match.
I agree Walcott hasn't been good but he does offer more pace than Loookman. Is Lookman the answer right now? I'm not sure he's ready for 30 games a season.
Walcott definitely isn't the answer either.

7.) 29 Mar 2019 07:30:29
I think the point being made by DC is how many brought through from our own setup, not bought in. All of us agree we have an excellent youth, U23 to reserve programm and hardly a week goes by without Unsy raving about our U23's.

8.) 29 Mar 2019 10:05:30
So bill / DC - who in our u23s is currently better than who in our current first team squad?

9.) 29 Mar 2019 13:05:28
The top teams in the prem have a smattering of home grown/ trained youth in their squads but they get limited game time. We probably have more and give more time than most in the league.

This is what Silva and Brands are here to do and for me they are bringing these young guys on just fine. Kenny, DCL and Davies have all improved since Silva arrived.

10.) 29 Mar 2019 17:31:15
Brought Barkley in and look what happened there.

17 Mar 2019 15:56:23
mitrovic would be a good signing for us in the summer, fulham going down and valued at 22.5 million bargain for around 30 million and only 24 years old.

23 Feb 2019 19:22:26
lose to cardiff, then it will be squeaky bum time. the lower teams are closing.

1.) 23 Feb 2019 20:13:37
7 points off 7th 9 points off relegation. Which will we be closest to come end of season.

2.) 23 Feb 2019 21:44:37
Been saying this for a couple of weeks now, not one to normally be negative but results do not lie, we have some tough remaining home games to come, it is a massive game against Cardiff.

Anyone who thinks we are safe are more positive than I am, We are relying on Those below us not putting a run together.

Would hate this to go down to the wire, simply because we do not seem to have any fighters in the team for a Dogs of war approach.

Lose against Cardiff and we will be up to our necks in it, so come on Everton, get that win and settle us Evertonians nerves.

3.) 24 Feb 2019 07:55:01
Our run in ain't easy either!

4.) 24 Feb 2019 09:18:39
Stop panicking.

5.) 24 Feb 2019 09:34:49
Guys I realise we can’t take anything for granted and our run in is more difficult than we would like whilst in poor form. But for us to become real relegation material then it will need not one team to put a run together but possibly as many as 4. That doesn’t happen. Especially if they are expected to take points off each other.

Due to Burnley’s current form I would say that the bottom 3 sides at the end of the season will come from the current bottom 6. With Fulham and Huddersfield looking to be 2 of them already.

22 Feb 2019 21:27:24
del boy hattrick bring him back haha.

1.) 22 Feb 2019 21:54:43
Well Watford won 5-1 so if we don't win on Tuesday it will show how far we have fallen behind other clubs outside of the top six.

2.) 23 Feb 2019 08:03:28
The crazy thing is we have improved as an attacking force. but our defending is probably worse that schoolboy level! Such a simple thing to sort but at the moment we look quite terrible. We give free kicks and corners away at times when we need to be calm. We have individual mistakes by the keeper and the two center backs and the two full backs seem to be hellbent on fouling. After we have given away fouls and corners, we crowd the box with players who can't head the ball. Walcott, Lookman, Gomez, Digne and Siggy all struggle. Yet attcaking wise we have plenty of possession and enough shots to win most games. The whole thing is barmy!

3.) 23 Feb 2019 09:37:39
Cardiff will throw the kitchen sink at us now, it is a must win game for them, and as much as I hate to say it, I think they will win just for the fact that we won't be up for the fight.

4.) 23 Feb 2019 12:32:04
I feel after Tuesday even the most optimistic fans might gather under my dark cloud. To think we have just paid Watford another £4 mill for Silva Moshiri is so incompitent at running a football club. If he ran his business this way he would have gone bankrupt years ago.

5.) 23 Feb 2019 14:35:32
But he has not gone bankrupt and knows how to run a business by using those in the know to guide him. He is learning fast about how to run a football club and surrounding himself with the staff who can take us where he wants us. Give him, Brands, and Silva a chance. You have a trigger finger DC :-)

6.) 23 Feb 2019 16:50:13
Maybe FM took bad advice at the start, DC, but why do you continue to slate him? His biggest mistake was appointing Walsh but that has been dealt with by employing a man who is well respected in his role of DoF, certainly an upgrade. The club is improving behind the scenes, our revenue streams seem to have gone up so that is heading in the right direction.
The only problem we've had is with managers. RK's first season wasn't too bad but the second was a nightmare, how many bad buys did we make? ok, FM might have to sign off these transfers but he was backing both his manager and Walsh. Rhino wasn't ready to step up and SA gave us nothing but dross.
What we all seem to skirt over is the influence us fans had. Walking out early in games, giving the managers (s) stick, booing the team selections etc. I think we should be careful what we wish for!
Silva wasn't who I wanted either but there's no point in moaning about it is there? Whether we like it or not, I think he will be given until the end of the season to turn things around, to see if the players can begin to play the system that he prefers. Providing, of course, results don't get worse than they already have. Whoever is in charge shouldn't matter, we should all be getting behind the team regardless.

7.) 24 Feb 2019 07:57:55
The problems all stem from Martinez allowing the squad to age so much. We sold our promising youngsters and relied totally on Barkley and Lukaku for goals. When those 2 left we were in it up to our necks!

06 Feb 2019 19:43:37
how r people watching the footie?

who knows how these youngster will perform when given the chance, there are plenty of young players that have been given the chance and proved they are the real deal. now is the time to give them the chance, forget europa league we don't need it at the moment.

most of the problems come from the poor displays of the first team players and the other players wondering why they are getting no game time. new manager needs to be strong or not ignorant to prove the fans are wrong. new season new manager clear the dead wood new players coybs.

yes i am feeling negative, like most fans. i was negative with koeman appointment as well and got the negative (your not a true everton fan bullcrap) . if we want to move forward and on to the top 4/ 6 then we need a manager that can attract top players (simone, benitez, ancelotti) . allardyce, dyche just going back to the moyes days. not knocking moyes because he done a superb job with next to no money. NIL SATIS NISI OPTIMUM which we are not getting from the players.
