I know Twitter isn't the best for rumours but mufc exclusive news is always pretty much bang on. They were the ones who let us know about mata in the first place and they have just tweeted that we are confident mata will be signing for around 25 million in next week or 2. If we manage to pull this off I will be ecstatic!

Odds are compiled by the amount of money laid on the outcome in order to protect the bookie from making a loss if that outcome happens. So if Mata was 6/ 1 last week to us and 2/ 1 to Valencia and I went in and put £25,000 on him to sign for us the bookies would shorten the odds considerably in order to protect against a lot of high payouts. So the odds in essence are set by the punters when in an open market. The original price was set by the bookies which was around 4/ 1, which isn't such a nailed on price.
{Ed025's Note - they also make false favourites though gray which will encourage punters to bet on things that are highly unlikely, its an industry that lacks morals mate and feeds off peoples greed..

Just heard koemans post game interview and you've got to love how the man talks he knows his she*p and tells it how it is. After the utter bull we've had to listen to for the past 3 seasons I'm really enjoying our new manager already.

I think everton have been trying to get Walsh in for a few weeks at least which would explain the lack of signings he obviously has his ideas on who he wants to bring in but obviously wouldn't be sharing any of these until the deal was done. It's the only thing that makes sense to me. Now hopefully we push on get the right players in and do some damage. Coyb!

I doubt that mate, what if Leicester had decided not to let him talk? The reason nothing much has happened so far is that RK wanted to assess the squad before deciding which areas he needs to concentrate on strengthening. The lads involved in international competitions have only had two days training under him so far. Expect things to start moving this week.

agree those two positions are obviously in need of new faces, more so the keeper. I think things would have started progressing from this week regardless of us hiring a DoF, once RK had seen the standard of his full squad. Walsh might save us a few quid, based on some of his findings during stints with Chelsea and the current champions, but it's good to see us being aggressive behind the scenes for a change.

I really do think every 1 needs to calm down about signing players. I've been guilty of it myself to a certain extent but some of these divys tweeting koeman and the everton page giving them abuse need to do 1. I've realised koeman has stated he will look to sign players after he has had a chance to assess the squad properly. He doesn't strike me as some one who talks shite so that is what's going to happen. Expect movement next week when there back from Austria until then every 1 needs to chill out.

Strange really that the only position we definitely have to fill before the squad is assessed is the GK and those rumours have dissapeared.

I seriously hope not. And I wouldn't think so. One of koemans best trait as a coach is his teams don't concede many from set pieces. Hart is week at set pieces so it doesn't make sense for me.
