I would like to admit I was unsure when we appointed Martinez. I was still unsure until before the villa game. I know we have had a great season but I still felt some questions needed answering. At half time of the villa game I text me old man and said this is Martinez first big test, lost the derby badly and down at home to villa within days. He passed with flying colours. Stuck to his guns and believed in his philosophy even with star men out / having a bad game. Well done bobby lad! I now believe.
On another note why are people getting in ross? He will make mistakes because of the way he plays. But he has the ability and the confidence to do things others can't or are afraid to do. Don't knock him for this applaud him and back him. We won't sign a player for 30 mill, but this guy could be that player that we could never dream of signing. I for one would pay to watch him as an everton player or not.

Just had a text off a mate who is a Wigan season ticket holder.
"Feel sorry for you mate with the Martinez appointment. We have had 4 years of watching his relegation football and only playing for the last six weeks of the season. Glad to see the back of him cause he has no idea how to set up a team to defend so I think you will be in for a long hard season. :- ("
Lets hope he is wrong, I don't think going back to Wigan for players would be a good marker to lay down early though. Like to think we are in a different class to them.

What you pal is failing to mention is that Wigan could not buy a nod or attra t the calibre of player everton has. and any that did turn good we're sold to bigger clubs. no disrespect to Wigan but we are a bigger club with better players. It may have been the case that pep guardiola could not have done better with that squad. Jlaff

Hi eds, do we know how well respected Martinez is in Spain. He wouldn't be my first choice but may as well start getting used to the idea it's probably going to be him and wondering if he would be likely to attract players from Spain specially seems we were linked with soldado. If he could pull that off would certainly make him go up in my estimations!

He's a good player, reads the game well but is slow and struggled with having jags and him at the back against three quick forwards. He will do well for us as cover for jags but we need someone with pace there when distin doesn't play.
As much as I would hate to be correct, the bookies have got Lennon as the only other guy under 10's. if they are to be believed its Martinez, rangnick or Lennon.
