Sorry for the dumb question, but was just reading on sky sports that digne us injured for France at the moment. It mentions the Everton star, currently on loan from Barcelona. I thought we signed him. Have I imagined we'd signed him or not?

{Ed002's Note - Digne is an Everton player Kingo.}

Any truth in the Bernat link or is it just the Liverpool Echo hoping or linking us with anyone to make a better newspaper?
I got one was hoping for Kurzawa from PSG, but I reckon Bernat could be an even better signing.

In my opinion, a club needs to be able to offer 2 of 3 things to sign big players now (not in need of any development) Money (Tick) , attractive football club (unfortunately not at the moment) and high profile manager. I can't see big players coming to join the everton project for unsworth or dyche just yet. Think we need the high profile manager such as ancelotti (if possible) to get the big name striker we are after. And supposedly he's now on record in Germany saying he's got an affection for the Premiership and would be interested in a project 'like Everton. If true, I think it's a no brainer. And then he could possibly train unsworth (or someone else from within) to take the reigns later like he did with Paul Clements.

1.) 01 Nov 2017 07:19:51
That isn't at all what he said. He's not going to come to Everton.

2.) 01 Nov 2017 07:50:16
I'd like Ancelotti with somebody like Arteta as his number two.

3.) 01 Nov 2017 08:43:05
Once again, we need a sense of realism. Ancelloti isn't coming. It's the same mentality that expected us to be breaking into the top 4 or challenging for the title. Dyche might be the best manager we can get. I'd love Fonseca, Silva or Favre, but they may not be options. Claude Puel wouldn't have been a bad shout for us - he has a long record of shoring up teams defensively and bringing young players through successfully - given time, which he wasn't at Southampton. There just aren't many options that suit what fans at least seem to want.

4.) 01 Nov 2017 08:49:06
He said he is waiting until the summer as he is still being paid off by bayern Munich. I'm sure agreement could be reached as always it comes down to money.

5.) 01 Nov 2017 09:09:10
wolves manager now being mentioned.

6.) 01 Nov 2017 14:06:29
I do get hope good it would feel to appoint someone like Ancelloti. But as you say, scoundrel, he's said he's not signing anything until summer. We can't wait till then unless we're happy to have Unsworth in post all year - no decent manager signs a six-month contract. All Carlo said about Everton was that people keep mentioning his name in connection with various openings, four of which he mentioned specifically and one of these was Everton. He gave no indication whatsoever that he was open to it.

7.) 01 Nov 2017 14:34:24
Can't see the guy from Wolves being interested. They're top of the league, he's been backed in the transfer market so why would he jib that for a club in real danger of going in the opposite direction?

8.) 01 Nov 2017 19:46:32
Are we just a vanity project for Moshiri?

04 Jul 2017 21:54:51
Take your blue blinkers off. I'm an evertonian for nearing 40 years. Right here, right now, team for team what are people expecting?
I think we still need some time to now gel as a team. Where as I am over the moon at the full 4 days of the window so far (Never known anything like it before as a blue) I cannot see us winning the league (which I've heard if other blue sites).

I see us pushing the top 6 harder (maybe even overtaking one or two of arsenal) the gap below is I think will get even greater. We are DEFINiTELY going in the right direction.

1.) 04 Jul 2017 22:13:52
Bit of pre season optimism is healthy for everyone an the buzz around us at the moment can only help us. Imagine the atmosphere first game of the season. Wow the old lady is going to be rocking that Saturday afternoon an i for one one cannot wait an I do believe with the structure we have started we are capable of anything we want wih hard work.

Everton the gear.

2.) 04 Jul 2017 22:36:31
Have to agree with Kingo here but we our on the way back to the top that I am sure of, it will still be a couple of seasons away.

3.) 05 Jul 2017 12:41:35
Everyone slating us and saying we have signed "average players" that no-one else wants. We have improved on every area of the team in the players we have brought in. We finished 7th last year so we had to strengthen the squad to advance on that position. I genuinely think other teams and fans are getting slightly nervous and jealous of the fact we are making improvements and with good young hungry players who have the same ambitions as our new owner and manager. We aren't title challengers but we should be looking at Europe and a cup win this season, and what's wrong with a bit of optimism instead of the same old Everton response of moaning! Rooney may be 31 but he is a massive improvement on Niasse, Kone and Valencia. We need quality players to increase competition and I reckon we are closing the gap on the Sky6. UP THE TOFFEES.

27 Jun 2017 13:00:11
Ed, any more movement in Dendonker? Gone a bit quiet recently but we've supposedly shut the door now on the inter Croat midfielder and now seemingly loaned anderlecht this new Nigerian striker. Any links there?

{Ed025's Note - last i heard was that we had a £15m bid rejected kingo, but nothing since mate..

1.) 27 Jun 2017 18:45:22
Cheers mate. Would be one i'd like to come in.

Just a quick thought off you guys. If you had to choose ONE from Kean or Laio, which would. you choose and why? By all accounts, Laio maybe the easier to sign from his club, Kean seems a better prospect, more developed so far than Laio, but big concerns over his attitude, whereas Laio supposedly more knuckled down, willing to learn/ improve and apparently the same region on price. Purely by attitude, I think I'd rather Laio, but ultimately seems the bigger gamble. (Not saying we'd get either, just a question)

1.) 15 Jul 2019 14:08:48
I personally no nothing about Leao other than YT vids and other people’s opinions. That fella who was on Toffee tv who is very knowledgeable rates him highly so he would no doubt be a welcome signing.

For me though I watched Kean a few times last season and even posted on here about him. I would have every confidence in him if he’s the one we go for. Very reminiscent of Rom but with a better touch and link up play.

We just have to trust Marcel to find the right one and who knows it might be neither Leao or Kean.

2.) 15 Jul 2019 17:01:45
Last time Ed 002 posted on Kean, he pretty much said we had no chance. He’s usually right. So as much as it’s a lingering story there isn’t much to report from our Ed in the know.

Strikers work off confidence and I would love to see what Tosun could do if we just started and persisted with the guy.

3.) 15 Jul 2019 18:45:00
Personally I don't think tosun is worth a tos.

4.) 15 Jul 2019 18:46:04
Toffee ace, I agree about Tosun. You don't just forget how to score goals. Give him the service to get on the end of a few, couple of goals under his belt will probably boost confidence and get him back to the player we bought.

5.) 15 Jul 2019 19:42:54
I would be delighted if we signed either of them, although i highly doubt we will get either, my personal preference would be Leao for the same reason you said. as for Tosun, if no new striker comes in then i think he should be given a run of at least 10 games as the no.1 striker at the start of the season, surely its his turn to be afforded an opportunity like DCL.

6.) 15 Jul 2019 20:15:40
For me Tosun isn’t a bad player by any means but rather he just isn’t a fit for the way MS wants us to play. Under Allardyce’s lump It in the box he had crosses to get on the end of but we’ve moved on thankfully.

I’d still probably have him in over DCL though as the squad stands.

7.) 15 Jul 2019 22:07:26
Tosun isn’t what we need or want. If he is that good we shouldn’t have any problem getting our money back for him given the fact that even in that short space of time prices have kicked on. let’s see what we get. 👀.

8.) 16 Jul 2019 06:53:57
Tosun scores goals for his Country and against good sides, he also scored against very good sides champions league etc! Prior to coming to us. He and DCL need a consistent run.

27 Jun 2019 10:38:34
Ed, wonder if you could shed some light on the Lukaku saga. Am I right in thinking, if he was sold this summer or even next, we would stand to pocket an extra £5-10 million out of it. But, as it seems to be reported at the moment, with him going in a 2 year loan, would we be able to acquire anything out of this, as technically he hasn't been sold, and presumably any sale would be outside the next 2 transfer years?

{Ed002's Note - The clause relates to contract extention or sale. Obvious if he were simply loaned it would not be of any relevance.}

1.) 27 Jun 2019 14:56:25
Even if it's a loan with a view to purchase and go along with the purchase?

{Ed002's Note - Why is it so difficult to understand?}

2.) 28 Jun 2019 00:16:49
Because anyone could then add a sell on fee clause to lower the initial price, then agree to sell, but only after a loan period, which the club makes money on, this saving a sell on fee. Prime example, if Man Utd are loaning Lukaku for 9m for 2 years then selling after the 2 years for 53m (in theory getting 62m) we get nothing. Doesn't sit right with me to be honest.

20 Jun 2019 17:57:42
Dont understand what's going on with Everton/ Chelsea rumours at the moment. My understanding is Chelsea can not buy at the moment so do not want to sell any of their decent players at present (understandably) . So why are we continuously being linked with their young right back who was on loan at Wigan (forgotten his name) if he is so highly rated by Chelsea. They're not likely going to sell him then are they considering Aspilecueta (maybe? ) Is over 30 and presumably nearing the end of his career.

1.) 21 Jun 2019 00:00:27
Reece James is who you are talking about.

03 Jun 2019 21:34:11
Ed, what's YOUR OPINION on the Gomes saga at the moment?
Reports are varying. Do you think we've cooled our interest in him (in which case, we must have bigger and better lined up) or are we just waiting for someone else to have a bid accepted (eg. West Ham) and match them, supposedly knowing that Gomes will then chose us. If so, is that a slightly risky manoeuvre?

{Ed025's Note - i think we are playing the game kingo, we have informed them of our interest and they know we want him, they are looking for the best deal for them and are waiting for bids higher than our valuation to see if we will match it, its nothing new mate and just part of a process..

1.) 04 Jun 2019 08:59:55
i think we're using the fact that andre wants to join us at leverage to get a price that we want to pay, we seen it with mina last year the waiting game brands is willing to play to get the price he sees fit for the player. no panic.

2.) 04 Jun 2019 10:29:02
I would guess (it's only a guess) that he is waiting to see if a club with European qualification comes in for him. He then has more chance of making the national team and achieving what footballers want to achieve. Play and succeed at the highest level they can.

3.) 04 Jun 2019 10:30:34
Oh and remember how much better Shneids looked at the end of last season when he covered for him. A different player under this manager.

4.) 04 Jun 2019 18:15:02
Both Digne and Zouma got called up to the France squad last season playing for us so there should be no issue for Gomes. He just needs to be consistent and good enough for their squad.
I think he'll sign and it's just Barcelona and us playing the game.
It's totally Everton to make an easy transfer last 2 months.

The rollercoaster of an Evertonian. What an end to a season. And what a game today (again) . Enjoy your Easter eggs boys, you deserved it.

Agree with Lee. We are going to be linked with everyone this summer. Almost spending 200 million (20 rb, 30 CB, 30 cm, 40 rw, 22 Gomes, 40 cf) . don't believe any of it until they hold the shirt. fun for a change though. messi, Ronaldo. and obviously riquelme next.

Should be, but it won't be I'm afraid. Never been a fan if Silva, but have him a chance. He's small fry, Martinez number 2. Got relegated with hull (admittedly half a season, but with mainly small players he knew) . Sacked at watford. So obviously going to take us to the next level?!?!?!
Some woukd argue, but possibly individually the best group of players we've had in a long time. It's not working for him. Maybe a step too high/ far for him. But Moshiri and Brands seemingly were desperate for him, so can't see him going anywhere soon.
Absolutely embarrassing.

Maybe not just yet. Still a bit too slight, but also only 20 or 21. Rather another loan season, but prefer the fact he's ours already that not ours. Can see him getting better and better.

{Ed025's Note - i think hes a good player kingo, the thing is that we have quite a few of that ilk already mate and i think we would be better looking for a goal scorer or a strong defensive midfielder myself..

I read an interview with him some time ago, and i recall he said something along the lines of "he doesn't necessarily want to invest in a football club only arsenal as he has always been a supporter of that club. " However, he is a business man after all and if there is profit to be made, then who knows.

Ha. I know that. Rumour has its Inter Milan. I was asking that apparently there is a sell on fee we would be due if he was to be sold within the next 2 seasons.

I feel slightly sorry for dcl really. I think he is a good striker, played in the right way, but not sure if he can be OUR out and out, number 1 striker if we have big ambitions.
