Any truth in the Bernat link or is it just the Liverpool Echo hoping or linking us with anyone to make a better newspaper?
I got one was hoping for Kurzawa from PSG, but I reckon Bernat could be an even better signing.

In my opinion, a club needs to be able to offer 2 of 3 things to sign big players now (not in need of any development) Money (Tick) , attractive football club (unfortunately not at the moment) and high profile manager. I can't see big players coming to join the everton project for unsworth or dyche just yet. Think we need the high profile manager such as ancelotti (if possible) to get the big name striker we are after. And supposedly he's now on record in Germany saying he's got an affection for the Premiership and would be interested in a project 'like Everton. If true, I think it's a no brainer. And then he could possibly train unsworth (or someone else from within) to take the reigns later like he did with Paul Clements.

Kingo78

1.) 01 Nov 2017 07:19:51
That isn't at all what he said. He's not going to come to Everton.

2.) 01 Nov 2017 07:50:16
I'd like Ancelotti with somebody like Arteta as his number two.

3.) 01 Nov 2017 08:43:05
Once again, we need a sense of realism. Ancelloti isn't coming. It's the same mentality that expected us to be breaking into the top 4 or challenging for the title. Dyche might be the best manager we can get. I'd love Fonseca, Silva or Favre, but they may not be options. Claude Puel wouldn't have been a bad shout for us - he has a long record of shoring up teams defensively and bringing young players through successfully - given time, which he wasn't at Southampton. There just aren't many options that suit what fans at least seem to want.

4.) 01 Nov 2017 08:49:06
He said he is waiting until the summer as he is still being paid off by bayern Munich. I'm sure agreement could be reached as always it comes down to money.

5.) 01 Nov 2017 09:09:10
wolves manager now being mentioned.

6.) 01 Nov 2017 14:06:29
I do get hope good it would feel to appoint someone like Ancelloti. But as you say, scoundrel, he's said he's not signing anything until summer. We can't wait till then unless we're happy to have Unsworth in post all year - no decent manager signs a six-month contract. All Carlo said about Everton was that people keep mentioning his name in connection with various openings, four of which he mentioned specifically and one of these was Everton. He gave no indication whatsoever that he was open to it.

7.) 01 Nov 2017 14:34:24
Can't see the guy from Wolves being interested. They're top of the league, he's been backed in the transfer market so why would he jib that for a club in real danger of going in the opposite direction?

8.) 01 Nov 2017 19:46:32
Are we just a vanity project for Moshiri?

04 Jul 2017 21:54:51
Take your blue blinkers off. I'm an evertonian for nearing 40 years. Right here, right now, team for team what are people expecting?
I think we still need some time to now gel as a team. Where as I am over the moon at the full 4 days of the window so far (Never known anything like it before as a blue) I cannot see us winning the league (which I've heard if other blue sites).

I see us pushing the top 6 harder (maybe even overtaking one or two of arsenal) the gap below is I think will get even greater. We are DEFINiTELY going in the right direction.

1.) 04 Jul 2017 22:13:52
Bit of pre season optimism is healthy for everyone an the buzz around us at the moment can only help us. Imagine the atmosphere first game of the season. Wow the old lady is going to be rocking that Saturday afternoon an i for one one cannot wait an I do believe with the structure we have started we are capable of anything we want wih hard work.

COYB

Everton the gear.

2.) 04 Jul 2017 22:36:31
Have to agree with Kingo here but we our on the way back to the top that I am sure of, it will still be a couple of seasons away.

3.) 05 Jul 2017 12:41:35
Everyone slating us and saying we have signed "average players" that no-one else wants. We have improved on every area of the team in the players we have brought in. We finished 7th last year so we had to strengthen the squad to advance on that position. I genuinely think other teams and fans are getting slightly nervous and jealous of the fact we are making improvements and with good young hungry players who have the same ambitions as our new owner and manager. We aren't title challengers but we should be looking at Europe and a cup win this season, and what's wrong with a bit of optimism instead of the same old Everton response of moaning! Rooney may be 31 but he is a massive improvement on Niasse, Kone and Valencia. We need quality players to increase competition and I reckon we are closing the gap on the Sky6. UP THE TOFFEES.

27 Jun 2017 13:00:11
Ed, any more movement in Dendonker? Gone a bit quiet recently but we've supposedly shut the door now on the inter Croat midfielder and now seemingly loaned anderlecht this new Nigerian striker. Any links there?

Kingo78

{Ed025's Note - last i heard was that we had a £15m bid rejected kingo, but nothing since mate..

1.) 27 Jun 2017 18:45:22
Cheers mate. Would be one i'd like to come in.

09 Mar 2017 00:37:16
Don't really rate him that highly, nor do I see where I see where he'll fit in but I got a feeling Oxlade-Chamberlain will be ours in the summer. Just a feeling.

Kingo78

1.) 09 Mar 2017 07:56:01
On his day he's unplayable and can't he play both left and right wing? If so it'd be another proven attacking option.

2.) 09 Mar 2017 11:07:28
Not for me.

3.) 09 Mar 2017 14:32:03
Would take him all day based on his character alone. One of the only players to come out of this past couple of grim months for Arsenal, with any credibility.

Works his bollocks off. A new start, with new players and confidence will allow him to push on.

I would take him all day.

Have to be thinking about the squad now, not just the first 11. Even if he didn't start games, having him on the bench to come on, as opposed to Lennon can only be a good thing for Everton.

4.) 09 Mar 2017 22:41:41
I personally think he walks into our starting 11. However I also think there is no chance of him signing for us.

5.) 10 Mar 2017 09:32:30
Cant think of any PL team were the OX wouldn't be a great addition to their squad. Quality player, who I would love to see in EFC colours. Highly unlikely to happen but we can dream.

6.) 10 Mar 2017 13:32:32
Would love to sign him.

7.) 14 Mar 2017 11:41:55
Id take him in a heartbeat. Given a run of games and a little confidence he would be a massive improvement for our starting 11.

Can someone please clarify a recent comment I have heard? Is it true (I hope not) that Sam has come out and said that Tosun will not feature for us until we are mathematically safe as he is 'struggling to cope with the British weather'? . Surely they have cold weather in Germany growing up and, for 80k a week, you'd play in Speedos.

Kingo78

{Ed0333's Note - for 80k a week I’d play naked.

1.) 14 Feb 2018 23:05:21
You best be a 6 foot blond ed0333.

{Ed0333's Note - are you saying you’d pay to watch me play football naked BlueJohn? Your naughty boy you.

2.) 14 Feb 2018 23:57:10
I should have included gender in that comment or at least bust size as long as there something, up top, jiggling about! 😁😂.

{Ed0333's Note - how about down below jiggling?

3.) 15 Feb 2018 03:18:03
I would suspect Ed that in the cold of winter not much would be jiggling.

{Ed001's Note - it wouldn't matter if it was summer or winter, the only thing jiggling would be his gut.}

4.) 15 Feb 2018 08:40:50
Back to the question. the one I read said Sam said he couldn't pick him ahead of Niasse whilst Niasse was banging the goals in and creating chances. Added to which he is not at the fitness levels required for the Premier League just yet. That all makes sense to me. It just seems there is an anti Sam brigade who look at things and find negatives. Ed001 calls them toxics. We have the same about Kenwright. Probably the only lifelong fan of a club who has not named a section of the ground after himself yet invested millions of his own money.

{Ed001's Note - hang on, you mean Ed002 mate. Though I see his point about some of them, it is his term. I will never understand how any football fan can have anything but respect for Kenwright and what he has done for Everton.}

5.) 15 Feb 2018 08:57:45
Sorry Ed001. But I agree with him on this point. I think we have some fans who would see negatives if we were top of the league and winning the Champions League every season. The toxicity is quite astounding and unbelievable. Like I often say, supporter has ameaning and definition. I think some of ours should be called slaggeroffers or as Ed002 puts it, toxics.

{Ed001's Note - what are you sorry for? You have lost me.}

6.) 15 Feb 2018 09:13:36
Mixing you two Eds up. I thought it was you who had said it. not Ed002.

{Ed002's Note - It was me.}

7.) 15 Feb 2018 13:28:33
I think sam was alluding to the fact he wasnt giving enough in training posiibly because of the cold. Below is what he was quoted as saying about him.

‘It will be important for him to train really, really hard particularly when you are walking out and it is chucking it down with rain. ‘It is not that he is not used to it but it is freezing cold. When you are on the grass in short sleeves and shorts and a pair of boots players don’t want to stop training and don’t want to stop playing football, in fact we have to stop them and say you have done enough lads.

8.) 15 Feb 2018 17:29:53
Still not sure how that translates to not picking him however he plays?

9.) 15 Feb 2018 18:32:50
Degsy are you ranting at kingo who's asking about Tosuns ability to adapt to our climate or other posts below that are about Sam? It's seems a little out of place on this thread.

I don't think he's having a go at Sam but at Tosun being shy of the cold.

10.) 15 Feb 2018 19:52:09
Not ranting at all BlueJohnUns. funny how an inocuous comment can be mis-interpreted. No mate all I was saying was that the original comment was that Kingo78 had heard that Allergy had said he won't pick Tosun until we are mathematically safe. Added to which it was because of the cold weather. He asked was this a true statement? So I responded with what I had heard which was not what had been told to Kingo. It then sort of evolved into me saying that certain elements were just anti Sam A. ie mis-reporting of comments he had allegedly made. Someone else actually told me what Sam Allergy was thinking the other day. I did question was he a mind reader? So no rant. Just a response to a question that was asked.

11.) 15 Feb 2018 21:10:43
To answer kingos question Sam actually said in an interview with the echo.

When we are safe and moving forward we will still try and finish as high up as we can but we will have an opportunity to put him (tosun) on the pitch.

Interpret that which ever way you want. To me it tells me he isn't going to play Tosun until we are safe from relegation, others may and probably will interpret it differently.

12.) 15 Feb 2018 21:36:10
I don't get the Tosun comment about weather either. Some days and nights in Istanbul in winter it can be 6c/ 1c, and it can certainly chuck it down. I think it is more to do with the pace and fitness required for the Premier League.

13.) 15 Feb 2018 21:40:43
I love the fact Sam Allardyce changes to Allergy on your spell checker Degsy. He's a bit like that for us on here. 😁.

14.) 15 Feb 2018 22:44:23
I'm not worried so much. It might be a good thing that he has time to get used to things. I saw enough to think he could be a success.

Pair of tights and gloves will sort him out. 😉.

14 Jan 2018 22:39:32
Ed, can you please try and enlighten me on something please.
It seems everyone is blaming Koeman for all the 'horrendous' signings he made (although I don't necessarily think they're bad, maybe unnecessary) . Already, unfairly, blaming Sam for everything (I'm not a fan either mind) . But is it not Walsh in charge of all players coming and goings? Are the managers just told to 'work' with what they've got available? What does whoever the manager is have to do? Is it just pick the team and tactics and tell the coaches what training to do?
Does Walsh not have a lot to answer for? Isn't he in charge of recruitment? Isn't he recruiting the managers as well? He seems to have quite a high input considering Bill and Moshiri both wanted other managers and Walsh got Sam?
If, like fans are saying or hoping, and we get rid of Sam in the summer and get someone more 'high profile', won't we still be in the same situation with Walsh seemingly doing what he want and whoever is the manager having to make do with wjat he has to hand?

Kingo78

{Ed002's Note - It is a joint decision.}

1.) 14 Jan 2018 23:21:14
How joint is it? Have they both got to agree? Does Walsh have a bigger input? If a new manager is appointed, could they say they wouldn't want to work with a director of football?

{Ed002's Note - A new manager would not go anywhere if they were to say they don’t want to work with DoF. The damage has been done in appointing him.}

2.) 15 Jan 2018 07:23:53
Don't know about a joint decision I think the lads on the pitch have been having a few joints before the games a couple of them excluded, massive kick up the rear or that's the door shut it on your way out if you don't buck your ideas up.

3.) 15 Jan 2018 10:00:38
Think I have to agree with you ed. Bin him sharpish. Ni good having a 'possibly' good team in 5 years time if we can't do anything now. Unfortunately Walsh has not been finding the Mahrez, Vardy, Drogba or Essien. Think he's even got the credit for Gana Gueye but wasn't that before him.

28 Nov 2017 08:37:36
Before I start, I'd like to say anyone will go anywhere for ENOUGH money.
If our supposed first choice (Silva) 9s not going to happen and we offered 13m for his buy out and then wages on top, why do t we offer Ancelotti WHATEVER he wants to come in.
My opinion is Fonseca has no Prem experience (handling the lowest confidence team) and Sam plays boring football, is an arrogant man (and now knows we're desperate, so has us by the balls) and has a big black question mark hanging over him.
Ancelotti at least has Prem experience, a wealth of knowledge, good connections and has said he is open to the right project.

Kingo78

1.) 28 Nov 2017 09:39:09
Allardyce would be a betrayal of everything Labone, Ball and the rest stood for.

2.) 28 Nov 2017 10:19:42
I think appointing Allardyce would be the worst thing we could do. He'd squeeze is for every penny. Sign players for right now and leave the next manager an even bigger mountain to climb.

07 Nov 2017 17:01:09
Is this Sam talk genuine or what? Can't see why he'd be interested in a short term thing. If true, he's need to pay palace back £2 million. There's approx 30 weeks left of the season and he want 100k a week supposedly. That's 3 million in wages, pay palace back 2 million leaving him with a million for 30 weeks work.

Kingo78

{Ed002's Note - ignore the money, it does no more than confuse football supporters.}

1.) 07 Nov 2017 17:17:52
Kingo78. It doesn't work like that. If it did transfers and deals would be sealed, signed and delivered the same day.

24 Sep 2017 12:32:03
I've never really been convinced by Koeman, even before this last month or so it seems to be the fashionable thing to do. Not convinced by his selections, tactics, development and even his sterness to some extent. But what really got me yesterday was (and match of the day partly highlighted it) was when Niasse scored his first, you saw bug Dunc go ballistic on the side line showing what it really meant to be a blue. Koeman almost looked downbeat. Regardless whether he has 'issues with Niasse, he's scoring an equaliser in a project Koeman is supposedly trying to get everyine on bored, and he looked the most miserable of the lot. Not heart whatsoever. Just there for his overpriced salary. Come on Barca. Make your supposed move sop. Ha.

Kingo78

1.) 24 Sep 2017 13:49:50
That's your take on it Kingo. Me it looked like he thought a draw was not enough. When scored the second he had his hands in the air screaming as well.

I'm pretty sure he is not in the job to be a failure. let's be fair in our assessments.

If he does things badly point them out but also give credit. If you don't want to do that then maybe reassess your view of what a supporter is.

2.) 24 Sep 2017 14:21:22
Good shout BlueJohn mate, too much of that on here.

3.) 24 Sep 2017 14:34:35
Didn't most of us slate klipperty last season for celebrating a draw like it was a win. I would be concerned if he hadn't celebrated the 2nd, it is also his job to ship out anyone who isn't good enough and that was his assessment of Niasse last season. Like he has said he had to leave if he wanted to play he wouldn't have got a game with Lukaku and DCL in front of him. This season is different and maybe he has got his assessment wrong, the premier league is full of players who didn't make it at a club but is now smashing it at another club.

4.) 24 Sep 2017 15:08:35
Nice one Smit mate.

Kurzawa all day long for me. PSG have said he's available for a reported 20 million as they need to balance the books in order to comply with FFP. Young, pacy, good defensive, good on the ball and French international. 20 million isn't that much nowadays. But coukd we attract him?

If he comes for a reported 20 million, I presume as a wide right attacker, what does that mean for the immediate future of Henry Onyekuru? I would imagine, when fit, he would be the successor to that position, so wouldn't 20 million be a lot for someone who would potentially only hold that position for maybe a year? Maybe I'm thinking too much into it. I'm sorry. I still can't get used to Everton with money.

Never been happy on the appointment if I'm honest. Just think we are lucky there's at least 10 team who are performing worse than us. I think it's a win/ win for the fans and Allardyce. He gets his contract paid up PLUS his bonus for keeping us up (I think we would've stayed up with any manager as there are worse teams than us in the league) PLUS we paid off palace so he can get another job elsewhere. He's too defensive for me. And even if he does get us 7th (and possibly european football again) , a new (probably foreign/ hopefully not Silva (the new bobby) our (as if you'd believe what you read/ hear) new manager coukd out his own spin on the squad throughout the summer.

Can't see it to be fair. He's still new to the league, maybe just thought it'd be a battling game tonight which, at this stage of Tosun career, would be more suited to Niasse game at the moment. 2 weeks at a club doesn't usually make you a bad player. But, at the moment, with most Everton fans it seems, if we signed Messi and he didn't score a hat trick every 45 minutes, there would be a story or we've been ripped off etc. The lad just needs some bedding in time. All I've heard about him so far is 'He's ruined his career now signing for us" as he is destined for much bigger things.

Think we have nothing to lose on this. No loan fee, just covering his wages. Not a bad player, but is partial to a mistake or 2. Different manager, different style maybe her rid of these. Good signing in my opinion. Would like to see a Mangala, Keane partnership.

Seems to me that all the recent problems have come from when we appointed Walsh. Not saying he is to blame for everything, but the people within the club (not even necessarily the fans) need to know what there roles are and are they all capable if working in tandem.
We have been crying out for investment for at least the last 30 years, and now we have it, it appears our club has something rotting inside of it. Sad times unfortunately.
