Eds, I have a question about onyekuru (spelling) the lads loan spell in Belgium started well last year, same this year in Turkey. Is it his work permit only that is preventing him for playing for Everton?

{Ed002's Note - Yes. However Valencia has a plan for Onyekuru as well.}

1.) 27 Jul 2018 15:12:49
Thanks, I read about Valencia. not seen onyekuru play (other than highlights) and would be a shame if Everton can't keep hold of a talent like that, especially when (on face of it) don't seem to be inspiring our other protege. lookman.

{Ed002's Note - Everton still have a Work Permit issue; Valencia would offer him the best career move, Everton money and regular football at a high-level; Gala has a contract and we don't know the terms.}

2.) 27 Jul 2018 15:26:06
Much appreciated!

3.) 27 Jul 2018 18:47:23
Still don't fully get this. He plays legally in Belgium. It seems now he can play also in Spain. Both like GB are in the EU. Do F. A rules overide EU employment law, or is it just that the British Goverment set the crirteria differently to continental Europe?

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with the EU. All countries follow their local laws when dealing with Foreign workers. The rules vary considerably, as they do for clubs in respect of the number of foreign players, home grown, association trained players there are etc.. He is not eligible for a Work Permit in the UK because he does not meet the criteria.}

4.) 27 Jul 2018 22:09:08
The criteria is woefully thought out in my opinion, Onyekuru would be coming to England as an employee of a large business, he would earning a sizeable salary that would be liable for income tax, so therefore would be making a decent contribution to the country, along with being a decent potential role model for children.

29 Jul 2017 17:19:04
Eds, is giroud the man striking target still? Have Everton made official enquiries yet, or is it all still paper talk?

{Ed002's Note - An enquiry has been made in to the availability of Max Kruse of Wefer Bremen.}

1.) 29 Jul 2017 18:04:30
Thanks ed. heard lots about kruz but not seen him. is he someone you think is decent?

{Ed002's Note - I don't know really. He needs to get out of Germany and work hard - decent - probably.}

2.) 29 Jul 2017 18:15:30
Kruse is a decent striker would be a good signing think giroud won't sign for us though and maybe not a bad thing as if we sign gilfi and have Rooney in same team we going to lack pace up front with only Sandro with pace ed do you know if we still have an interest in duvan Zapata from Napoli as I think he would fit Ronnie style of striker big powerful good in the air and plenty of pace plus if he can score goals in Italy then I am sure he can score in premier league.

13 Jul 2017 07:52:39
Eds, couple of years back Danny welbeck was linked with Everton. I'm imagining that he is a player who may struggle to get the game time he deserves. I like Danny and think he could do a job for Everton. anywhere along front. Is he someone whom Everton retain interest in, and whom arsenal may consider selling?

{Ed025's Note - i like him as well jcl, but there is nothing linking him with us mate even though i think arsenal would sell if a decent offer came in..

1.) 13 Jul 2017 08:19:25
Interesting ed, just think he's staled a little there, and a move to Everton could be a shrewd move! Let's hope RK and SW read these pages eh!

{Ed025's Note - they do actually have people checking forums such as this to gauge fans views jcl, how much notice they take is debatable though as we would be employing 24 centre forwards mate.. :)

2.) 13 Jul 2017 09:42:29
Made me chuckle ed. I think welbecks ability, age, experience fit the bill perfectly.

3.) 13 Jul 2017 12:12:31
I think Wellbecks only issue is his injury history, can we afford to pay a lot of money for a player that could spend a fair bit of time on the treatment table?

4.) 13 Jul 2017 12:24:25
In that case, I think we should be looking at signing Messi and Ronaldo.

23 Jun 2017 16:35:52
Eds, lots of rumours regarding strikers, defenders and midfielders. but given bolasie recovery, Aaron Lennon's recovery, possible sale of deleofeu. are Everton looking for wingers or is Calvert lewin and lookman seen as options instead?

{Ed002's Note - Seemingly not an immediate priority.}

1.) 23 Jun 2017 17:23:59
Cheers ed. just dawned on me that no such targets mentioned, which possibly, means sticking with what we have. but seem a little light in that dept. time for young lads to step up. could be a great opportunity for them.

2.) 23 Jun 2017 18:48:09
Looks like we use kev, bolasie, Lennon (unless he leaves) with lookman and Dominic (and ross if he stays) as back up. Looks ok to me. Can also play narrow with full backs providing width. a'la chelsea 343.

3.) 23 Jun 2017 19:37:00
Agree, Geoff, it tells me. at least so far that he's going to give lookman and Dom, a significant opportunity next season. I like both tbh. still improving but making all right noises so far. obviously has enough faith in them. also wondering if shani tarashaj will get an opportunity or be loaned out again?

4.) 23 Jun 2017 20:54:11
I'd be stunned if we didn't strengthen in that area. Lennon is not an option. Calvert Lewin is not a wide man. Sure we'll see plenty more in yet boys.

5.) 23 Jun 2017 22:23:01
I do believe we have players in who can play and spot a pass. Lookman can go past players and pick a pass. Klassen can pick a pass and score goals. Schneiderlin can pick a pass and defend. Gaye can defend. That leaves Bolasie with a bit more freedom to attack with (hopefully)
Ramirez to attack and he can go past players and finish.

19 Jun 2017 19:59:06
Eds, any more concrete news regarding defender recruitment for first team. I appreciate some good young lads in and around first team, but real strong, established centre half would be great. heard lots about Keane and McGuire ( not completely convinced by macguire) . any real movement for them or others that your aware of?

{Ed025's Note - we are very interested in keane jcl and reports are saying jimmy mac is wanted by burnley so maybe a deal can be done mate..

1.) 19 Jun 2017 20:07:29
Do you think tentative talks ongoing then ed? Any rumblings as to whether Keane would be receptive to such a move?

{Ed025's Note - i would be guessing jcl but i can see the logic in it mate..

2.) 19 Jun 2017 22:03:31
Mcguire has gone to Leicester. I'd be really happy with Keane. Like the look of mawson (swansea) too but don't know the situation with him. Other than that, I think I'd be looking abroad.

3.) 20 Jun 2017 09:00:16
Whenever I've seen mawson (for Swansea and England 21s) he just seems to moan, whinge and have a go at his team mates. He seems like he could be a disruptive influence to me.

4.) 20 Jun 2017 22:31:37
Or a captain Kingo.

01 Aug 2018 19:49:14
Eds has the club given lookman assurances over first team footy or does he want to go regardless?

{Ed025's Note - i dont know jcl but i hope not, game time should be earned imo and as much as i rate ademola promising anyone guaranteed game time would be a mistake mate..

1.) 01 Aug 2018 20:52:09
Too many mistakes in the lad to be guaranteed playing time eh Ed.

{Ed025's Note - mistakes are part of his learning curve GB, i think its more of setting a president mate and they will all be banging on the managers door..

2.) 01 Aug 2018 20:54:17
I don't think he starts ahead of Walcott and Richalison but he'd be cover for both, or shift Richalison into the centre if Tosun suffers with poor form. Either way he should get 25-30 games in the premiership and at his age that should be enough for a year until his experience improves.
I don't think he'd get may more games in Germany.

{Ed025's Note - i would think 10-15 games myself smit, he is still learning his trade and lacks a bit of physicality for me which is only expected to be fair at his age..

3.) 01 Aug 2018 21:08:04
Yeah was thinking of a couple of good cup runs too.
My bad. Lol.

4.) 01 Aug 2018 20:17:16
Yup, totally agree, and although it's a different league he flattered in Germany, over the short time he was there, and if M&M have stated he is in their plans, then he must have showed something in training. When you consider the fact that Williams and schneiderlin show nothing in league games (regardless of how good they may look in training) but still get starting slots on the team sheet, surely the lad deserves a run of games, i.e assurances of a run of games to prove he can do what he did in the bundesliga in the premier league. at least that's my take on it. If he fails then we still have the January transfer window with a host of suitors I'm sure.

5.) 02 Aug 2018 01:09:27
Remember Lookman is only 12! Still time to grow!
Well that’s how old he looks lol 😂.

31 Jul 2018 18:32:38
Ed25, just curious on something. The club has bolasie, vilasic, and lookman, yet essentially buys another winger as first buy (although close to loaning out bolasie) . They are on the verge of making a lb their second buy. If we assume that both of these buys are improvements (I know little of either) , does it seem a little odd to you that we addressed these areas first rather than the CB and possibly CM positions, which are perceived as the weakest areas. In fact we have already released players from those positions? With Williams, jags and Keane struggling last season, and schneiderlin being woeful I'd have expected this to be the area (s) scrutinised by M&M first and then strengthened. Your thoughts?

{Ed025's Note - i think you make a great point jcl, i believe richarlison was a gift from moshiri as he was someone that he really wanted, our defence does not look great and im sure the task of replacing them is in abeyance starting with digne, he seems to be having trouble recruiting top quality centre backs at the moment but im hoping this will be addressed sooner rater than later mate..

1.) 31 Jul 2018 19:55:42
Nice gift.

2.) 31 Jul 2018 20:43:43
For some reason each successive manager has perserviered with Schneiderlin. I have no idea why? He has had a handful of good games in total. The left side needed addressing as well. I just hope that we can attract a decent center half or 2 and get the dynamic midfielder we all crave!

3.) 31 Jul 2018 20:42:40
Thanks Eddie. do you think that it's the case of their prime targets keeping them hanging, e. g. mina. Do you think we have given those prime targets a deadline date, as I would also guess that our back up recruits won't appreciate being messed about too much.

{Ed025's Note - i think its a case that their agents are doing their normal thing by trying to screw every club they can jcl, take mina for example, CH who was nowhere near the first team at barca but had a half decent world cup and is now being touted by the likes of us an man utd, prices are what they are of course but its bordering on the ridiculous because of the WC, its all about getting good players without being ripped off mate..

4.) 31 Jul 2018 20:58:28
Cheers Ed . apologies for the "Eddie". damn predictive text.

{Ed025's Note - no worries mate..

5.) 31 Jul 2018 21:13:39
The club have been quite open in saying that other targets ended up going elsewhere and that they’d only buy if who they bought in was better than what we have already. A sensible approach. Richarlison and Digne fit that. There’ll still be 3 weeks when we can ship the likes of Bolasie and Mirralis off to Europe. If a top quality CB had been available sooner, I’m sure we’d have bought him. A lot can happen in a week - let’s hope it does!

30 Jul 2018 20:23:14
On a slightly different note. I love this time of year, and on deadline transfer day, I get the beers chilled and takeaway on speed dial, with sky sports news on, Liverpool echo website up, and the rumours site up as well. I've done this for years. and regardless of who Everton buys between now and then. I will be there this transfer deadline day. on tenterhooks, with a full belly, and sweating. 😀.

1.) 30 Jul 2018 20:36:14
I would be too JCL but I'm in France this year no doubt on a campsite with internet from 1995.
You guys might just be my Jim Whites.

2.) 30 Jul 2018 21:08:19
In that case will post some snipits along with the rest of the posters. can't imagine being an Everton fan without deadline day drama Smit. as painful as it can be.

3.) 30 Jul 2018 21:24:01
Love transfer deadline day. Even Mrs ace knows not to go near the remote that day 😂.

{Ed025's Note - love it ace..

4.) 30 Jul 2018 22:00:31
Haha. snap toffee. I am as useful as a one legged man in an @rse kicking contest on deadline day. weather am working or at home.

5.) 31 Jul 2018 06:50:21
Just realised it's the 9th and my birthday aswell. Presents from Moshiri please.

Ben Mee
Dembele (Tottenham one)
Giroud (apparently he's off again, let's hope him and the missus have split up)

29 Jul 2018 10:11:29
Wise words from Seamus Coleman:

"I don't think we should get carried away too early with negativity or whatever, " Coleman said.

"It's pre-season, he's getting to know us and we're getting to know the manager and I have to say that training has been great, his ideas have been good but we haven't taken that onto the pitch.

"Sometimes we need to look at the players, it always seems to be managers nowadays, but we need to look at ourselves and that wasn't good enough but we can't get carried away with too much negativity, it's still early days.

"I'm sure the manager will be busy, possibly, in the next couple of weeks to get his own type of players in and we need to make sure us lads who are out there, and in training, do all we can to impress him.

"I thought we did create a couple of things [against Rennes] but I felt that when we gave it away, one or two passes and they were in on our goal. He wants us to win the ball back quicker and we didn't take that onto the pitch and it's something we need to look at.

"It's disappointing, we're not hiding away from it and nobody is making excuses because you don't want to be losing games in pre-season but we've got to be a little bit calm and take a step back and realise the Wolves game is all important. ".

{Ed025's Note - thanks for that jcl..

1.) 29 Jul 2018 10:30:13
We've had quite a few games in a short period of time so not much time for Silva to iron out the issues in training. That's why we are seeing the same mistakes game after game.

2.) 29 Jul 2018 10:39:21
Agreed. all need to remain calm.

3.) 29 Jul 2018 10:57:59
I am very calm. But whilst I accept what Coleman is saying, the signs are as I expected. Our main problem has been age and lack of replacing key players in defence. Cuco Martina and Ashley Williams were brought in as cover for Jags/ Coleman/ Baines. Neither of which are good enough. Keane was bought for no mean fee as the future. and so far has dissappointed. This is the root of our problems and the 6 players I mention form the basis of our back line with Coleman. Coleman is our ONE positive and shines out like a star. We have known this point has been coming since the days of Moyes and none of our subsequent managers coaches have instigated suitable replacements. We are talking about a Barcelona substitute left back with about 10 days to go before the season starts. Even if we sign him this week, that gives precious little time to bed him in. As yet all rumours about center backs continue. I hope against hope that Mason Holgate is going to be our saviour and has matured sufficiently to partner whoever comes in. I have banged on about Jags being too old at 36 and similar with Baines and Williams and was shouted down for being "negative"! This Premier League has the best players of the world in it. To expect a player like Jags to be able to continue is beyond me. Yes he was playing against a French team that finished 5th last season. Imagine how he will be against Giroud, Lukaku or even Firminio. especially if he has a strain or pull which only players who have played to that age will understand what I mean. This should all have been sorted over the last 4 seasons. Not now with about 10 days to kick off with a new management team.

4.) 29 Jul 2018 11:07:23
Agree with ALL of that degsy BUT brands and and Silva been there at club assessing with their own eyes for 6 weeks. I'll be disappointed if at least 2 cbs come in. but am hoping that by end of transfer window will be much happier.

5.) 29 Jul 2018 11:14:52
smit666. 'Thats why we are seeing the same mistakes game after game'. My Grand Son makes the same mistake game after game he gets a rollicking but In actual fact the lad does not make the same mistake game after game though. 'Professional' footballers should not make the same mistake game after game, unless of course that 'mistake' is what their coach is teaching them.

6.) 29 Jul 2018 11:53:51
A couple more rollickings and your grand son will be perfect then and ready for the premiership. That is unrealistic.

Players however good they are can't just switch as a team from all out defensive play to high pressing, man marking to zonal marking.
That is just not how football and life works KTF.
They need to be trained to do it, and Marco needs time and personnel to do it with.

7.) 29 Jul 2018 12:10:05
The point I was trying to make Smit666 is that if you are making the same mistake game after game 'the same mistake' (your words mate) , then something is wrong. I was a rubbish footballer but never the less played combined services standard (I assume you know what that is) , never quite good enough for my beloved Everton but like us all I had the dream. So yeah my Grand Son listens to me and he may make the same mistake again but never 3 times.

8.) 29 Jul 2018 12:36:27
Some players work better under new managers, some just don't, some players have one season wonders, some just aren't good enough, what Silva needs to do, this won't be easy is let the players go, but every other club has seem them play, so it's not easy, so then it makes it harder for us to bring players in, or take a very big loss, which as a business isn't a good thing to do all the time, we seem to have good youngsters who are not quite there yet, couple of good players, under performing players, and players who ain't good enough, that's not a quick fix, no matter who you are, it could take a couple of seasons to straighten out the mess.

9.) 29 Jul 2018 14:43:32
KTF a whole team can't learn a completely different style of play in six weeks. That is part of why we are seeing so many mistakes.
It has nothing to do with your grand son making 3 mistakes. Every game has different scenarios, patterns of play, opposition.
If your grandson has his eye on the ball and loses his man, are you telling me after the 3rd time he will never do it again ever!, because he will have learnt?
If that was the case he will be better than every other footballer because he'll never make a mistake again.
I'm sorry KTF but that is complete an utter twoddle.

29 Jul 2018 09:52:26
Not going to repeat everything being said re: patience and pre-season Vs league campaign, however pretty sure that manager and DoF knows our frailties BETTER than we do. turning those frailties around could be achieved over night with the addition of just a couple of the right additions. and there window is still open. and pretty sure that after last year's debacle of transfers the club will want to make sure they have made the right ones. not just manager and DoF but also the board. got to give them a chance.

{Ed025's Note - very much so jcl..

Part of me agrees with that but given our precarious defending capabilities, I'd have thought we should at least protect the creative capabilities we currently have. which lookman is a very big part of imo. at the moment the squad is actually weaker than last season. Mori gone, Rooney (top scorer) gone. there is still time left and I'm positive we'll sign at least 2 more players, but I'd like to see us bring in players before we consider offloading anyone else.

Degsy agree with you, in fact I had a discussion about ed25 regarding the shipping out of two cbs and the buying of two new players who play in different positions. If memory serves me right we concluded that the club must have a plan to address this. indeed Silva eluded to as much today. I think they have to Tel mina itsnow or never and then move on don think I can take last minute drama on 9th August. although love deadline day.

Degsy the way I get by is I don't follow their results mate, but to be fair I ain't bitter, I just don't follow them BUT I think your right regarding this season. them or city. and in all fairness the Mgmt and recruiting by both clubs has been top draw if we are being honest. as Smit said we have stumbled a little bit. I have got a feeling that our team may even surprise us this season. if we can get another CB, another striker and another cm (dembele or nzonzi type) and give the youth a chance. lookman, Davies, dowell etc iwe could be pleasantly surprised.
