Eds, is giroud the man striking target still? Have Everton made official enquiries yet, or is it all still paper talk?

Jcl1878

{Ed002's Note - An enquiry has been made in to the availability of Max Kruse of Wefer Bremen.}

1.) 29 Jul 2017 18:04:30
Thanks ed. heard lots about kruz but not seen him. is he someone you think is decent?

{Ed002's Note - I don't know really. He needs to get out of Germany and work hard - decent - probably.}

2.) 29 Jul 2017 18:15:30
Kruse is a decent striker would be a good signing think giroud won't sign for us though and maybe not a bad thing as if we sign gilfi and have Rooney in same team we going to lack pace up front with only Sandro with pace ed do you know if we still have an interest in duvan Zapata from Napoli as I think he would fit Ronnie style of striker big powerful good in the air and plenty of pace plus if he can score goals in Italy then I am sure he can score in premier league.

13 Jul 2017 07:52:39
Eds, couple of years back Danny welbeck was linked with Everton. I'm imagining that he is a player who may struggle to get the game time he deserves. I like Danny and think he could do a job for Everton. anywhere along front. Is he someone whom Everton retain interest in, and whom arsenal may consider selling?

Jcl1878

{Ed025's Note - i like him as well jcl, but there is nothing linking him with us mate even though i think arsenal would sell if a decent offer came in..

1.) 13 Jul 2017 08:19:25
Interesting ed, just think he's staled a little there, and a move to Everton could be a shrewd move! Let's hope RK and SW read these pages eh!

{Ed025's Note - they do actually have people checking forums such as this to gauge fans views jcl, how much notice they take is debatable though as we would be employing 24 centre forwards mate.. :)

2.) 13 Jul 2017 09:42:29
Made me chuckle ed. I think welbecks ability, age, experience fit the bill perfectly.

3.) 13 Jul 2017 12:12:31
I think Wellbecks only issue is his injury history, can we afford to pay a lot of money for a player that could spend a fair bit of time on the treatment table?

4.) 13 Jul 2017 12:24:25
In that case, I think we should be looking at signing Messi and Ronaldo.

23 Jun 2017 16:35:52
Eds, lots of rumours regarding strikers, defenders and midfielders. but given bolasie recovery, Aaron Lennon's recovery, possible sale of deleofeu. are Everton looking for wingers or is Calvert lewin and lookman seen as options instead?

Jcl1878

{Ed002's Note - Seemingly not an immediate priority.}

1.) 23 Jun 2017 17:23:59
Cheers ed. just dawned on me that no such targets mentioned, which possibly, means sticking with what we have. but seem a little light in that dept. time for young lads to step up. could be a great opportunity for them.

2.) 23 Jun 2017 18:48:09
Looks like we use kev, bolasie, Lennon (unless he leaves) with lookman and Dominic (and ross if he stays) as back up. Looks ok to me. Can also play narrow with full backs providing width. a'la chelsea 343.

3.) 23 Jun 2017 19:37:00
Agree, Geoff, it tells me. at least so far that he's going to give lookman and Dom, a significant opportunity next season. I like both tbh. still improving but making all right noises so far. obviously has enough faith in them. also wondering if shani tarashaj will get an opportunity or be loaned out again?

4.) 23 Jun 2017 20:54:11
I'd be stunned if we didn't strengthen in that area. Lennon is not an option. Calvert Lewin is not a wide man. Sure we'll see plenty more in yet boys.

5.) 23 Jun 2017 22:23:01
I do believe we have players in who can play and spot a pass. Lookman can go past players and pick a pass. Klassen can pick a pass and score goals. Schneiderlin can pick a pass and defend. Gaye can defend. That leaves Bolasie with a bit more freedom to attack with (hopefully)
Ramirez to attack and he can go past players and finish.

19 Jun 2017 19:59:06
Eds, any more concrete news regarding defender recruitment for first team. I appreciate some good young lads in and around first team, but real strong, established centre half would be great. heard lots about Keane and McGuire ( not completely convinced by macguire) . any real movement for them or others that your aware of?

Jcl1878

{Ed025's Note - we are very interested in keane jcl and reports are saying jimmy mac is wanted by burnley so maybe a deal can be done mate..

1.) 19 Jun 2017 20:07:29
Do you think tentative talks ongoing then ed? Any rumblings as to whether Keane would be receptive to such a move?

{Ed025's Note - i would be guessing jcl but i can see the logic in it mate..

2.) 19 Jun 2017 22:03:31
Mcguire has gone to Leicester. I'd be really happy with Keane. Like the look of mawson (swansea) too but don't know the situation with him. Other than that, I think I'd be looking abroad.

3.) 20 Jun 2017 09:00:16
Whenever I've seen mawson (for Swansea and England 21s) he just seems to moan, whinge and have a go at his team mates. He seems like he could be a disruptive influence to me.

4.) 20 Jun 2017 22:31:37
Or a captain Kingo.

22 May 2017 20:02:46
Eds, just curious. given this pending Barkley statement. do you think Ross is playing the odds regarding his contract terms or is it deeper than that. Obviously RMs management style was completely different to koeman. who really does call a spade a spade. definitely a straight talker. possibly bordering on rude/ aggressive. I speak from very limited experience. my take is that Ross is no longer being Molly coddled. RK expects him to grow a pair and be accountable more often. indeed a player RK can rely on. I'm guessing Ross is struggling with the challenge. Your thoughts?

Jcl1878

{Ed025's Note - i think thats true to a certain extent Jcl, he has always been the local lad who did good but koeman is not buying any of that guff, ross is being manipulated by his agent who is promising untold riches and stardom and the gullible young idiot is buying it hook line and sinker, for me everton are in the box seat on this one and ross could end up with egg on his face if no worthwhile club shows any interest mate..

1.) 22 May 2017 20:23:46
Cheers ed. many of these lads forget what it was like to dream about playing for their team. nor think about what life could be like if they had not made it. Players bang on about playing champions league but reality is not all can. but at least they get well rewarded and adored by many. shame they don't always realise that.

{Ed025's Note - your spot on Jcl, most of us would give our eye teeth to represent this club for nothing at all, greed is a terrible trait i think mate..

2.) 22 May 2017 21:31:16
Two words Dan Gosling.

{Ed025's Note - another 2...steven pienaar..

3.) 22 May 2017 21:54:19
If Barkley doesn't sign he'll end up at somewhere like West Ham or Newcastle.

4.) 22 May 2017 22:49:53
2 more

Joleon lesscot.

5.) 23 May 2017 00:40:40
John Stones hasn't found the grass is greener at Man City. He has been replaced by an injury prone 32 year old Vincent Company who Pep seems to like more than Stones!

6.) 23 May 2017 07:41:32
2 more.

Francis Jeffers.

7.) 23 May 2017 11:06:18
don't forget Jack Rodwell.

8.) 23 May 2017 11:48:00
Tbh only a handful of players have left Everton to relative success in recent times.

9.) 23 May 2017 14:08:29
Handful? Rooney and maybe Arteta. Who else had success after leaving? Don't think Mustafi qualifies in this argument.

10.) 23 May 2017 15:32:56
Fellaini might have a winners medal after tonight.

11.) 24 May 2017 00:25:35
Lescott has won the League to be fair.

{Ed007's Note - Gravesen won La Liga and reached the pinnacle of football by playing for Celtic AND winning the league with them - a double whammy!}

12.) 24 May 2017 10:45:30
Lescott and Gravesen is true have won medals. Were they a success with their clubs? I think not. Just because they got medals doesn't necessarily mean they were a big success when they moved. Some will think they were. That's fair enough.

The way I look at it both clubs that they both went to couldn't wait to get rid if them when there one and only contracts ran out. Speaks volumes to me when their new clubs did not off them new contracts to keep them.

Fellaini isn't exactly adored by Utd fans. Success? I guess he's a work in progress. Hope he does win tonight. All 3 were terrific at Everton. Imho all 3 even though won or will win medals were not a success with their clubs.

I've kept quiet since allardyce took charge, but to me is and always was an egotistical fraud. Tactically as poor as any other manager we've had, team selection equally as random. Says that kids need to prove themselves and yet WHEN did Schneiderlin, Williams or Martina prove themselves such that they get a start. lookman, vilasic Sandro. these lads should have been nurtured and they have been thrown away. great inspiration for other youngsters we may have or buy. I said it when koeman was here. from the board to Steve Walsh they have all screwed up. Walsh and his cronies need throwing out on their arse!

Jcl1878

1.) 03 Feb 2018 18:28:51
Spot on Jul. I have been saying this for a while now. Blone is average manager at best. Not for us.

2.) 03 Feb 2018 18:56:50
Absolutely gutted and so angry Woburn. I'd love to have 10minutes with the board to interrogate them with respect to every decision made since the summer transfer window.

27 Nov 2017 21:57:22
I think that this is the bleakest, most discouraging period in this clubs history. which is ironic considering where we thought things were heading 12-18 months ago. In summary the spending in summer ( and I'm not saying this retrospectively) was poor/ baffling to say least. from top to bottom the decisions have been shambolic. 4 weeks after sacking a manager, it's clear that they reacted on gut instinct and were not planning koemans possible sacking with any tactics/ philosophy. despite having plenty of time to plot his successor (like they should have been) . Now after doing a merry go round in the managers list it shows that the board is split/ rudderless and are spinning on their own axis. stinks of being clueless and of having no strategy. yet they are supposed to be business people. Blind men wandering around in the dark would have more direction. gutting.

Jcl1878

{Ed007's Note - Can't you remember Walter Smith's time?}

1.) 28 Nov 2017 05:07:30
I can ed. but to me this is far worse. At that time Everton were garbage. but the club was running on fumes. fast forward to now. The club has better investment with sponsors and business partners, new stadium site/ plans evolving, they are developing youth nicely apparently, new majority share holder, biggest transfer spend ever. yet we have a club in disarray. Walter Smith never had it as good.

{Ed007's Note - And your're saying all that makes this a worse time for Everton than the late 90's and early 00's when the club was running on fumes and finishing in the bottom half of the table for 3/4 years on the trot?
All that you need is a new manager and a minor reshuffle behind the scenes to move forward and doing that with the "better investment with sponsors and business partners, new stadium site/ plans evolving, they are developing youth nicely apparently, new majority share holder, biggest transfer spend ever" you mention will make that a lot easier.}

2.) 28 Nov 2017 10:48:20
Yes we can Ed 07 but we talking about the board and the board then did not have mega millions to spend and a new stadium about to be built .
Shame on them.

3.) 28 Nov 2017 11:49:43
For those who disagree, yes Everton under Smith were awful, but financially the club was running on fumes. considering all of the sponsors, business partners, money reinvested in squad. and the rumours this morning that allardyce. who we dodged 2 weeks ago. now needs convincing, and the fact that we are conceding goals left right and centre and performing terrible, and have had 2 chaps picking the team in the last 5 weeks. how can this not be the worst period in clubs modern history? They haven't gone backwards like spurs did a couple of years ago before bouncing back, the team is in free fall!

29 Oct 2017 16:15:31
Ed25, what r u thoughts on vilasic being out of squad? From Lennon mirrallas and him, I think I would have vilasic and probably Lennon.

Jcl1878

{Ed025's Note - i believe hes injured mate..

1.) 29 Oct 2017 17:18:45
Aàh, would explain a lot then because he should start imo.

23 Oct 2017 17:17:24
Well ed25, it happened, I'm happy he's gone, though have little idea about a replacement. For me the club goes big. If it wasn't for his allegiances, I would go for benetiz. in fact he's probably be my pick the more I think about it. the guys been there and proven himself in my eyes. but can understand why that would not go down well. But other than him I think any premiere managers we could tempt are few and far between. People mentioned Wagner and dyche. whilst Wagner has impressed me with what he's achieved with Huddersfield, it's a first season, dyche done well but not proven to be a fwd thinking, dynamic manager. but hasn't had the talent available. Others mentioning Watford manager. haven't seen enough to comment. What are your thoughts?

Jcl1878

{Ed025's Note - marco silva at watford would do me fine jcl or tuchel both of who play good attacking football mate..

1.) 23 Oct 2017 17:35:39
Ed025: until we can bring in another striker (or two) in January, any new manager will struggle to get us winning. Anyhow, their first job would be to organise the team - espećially our shambolic defending.

{Ed025's Note - very much so bobby..

2.) 23 Oct 2017 17:35:00
Would Silva b your choice ed due to his premium experience, would his English skills make u think twice?

{Ed002's Note - I would not turn my nose up at Moyes but Chris Coleman would be my choice. If Burnley are open to a good offer they will be asked about Dyche.}

3.) 23 Oct 2017 19:06:54
. just stopped shivering. Moyes. in all sincerity I'd give up on football ed.

22 Oct 2017 15:26:56
Anyone still think RK needs more time? Surely that has to be the final nail in the coffin.

Jcl1878

1.) 22 Oct 2017 15:39:37
Has to go now c'mon Bill.

2.) 22 Oct 2017 15:43:35
If it’s not JCL then we have some major issues at the boardroom level as well as on the pitch.

3.) 22 Oct 2017 15:47:03
Never thought I would say this but we really need someone with the experience of Allardyce to get us out of this position, bottom 3 and totally devoid of confidence.

{Ed025's Note - bloody hell wakka thats really scraping the barrel mate..

4.) 22 Oct 2017 15:50:21
Agreed CT. I won't be going next home game if he is still in charge. it's treating Everton fans as fools and with contempt. which we are not. I thought RM was bad but this fella. words fail me.

And at Man united? Moyes spent a fair amount of dosh, and every year convinced us all we were luck to finish mid table. whilst he was being paid about£5m a year. I think at one stage 3rd highest paid manager. He got money at man u and failed, failed in Spain and failed at Sunderland. if he steps a foot inside that ground it will be a sad day.

Bill has his flaws, but I would not slag him off. even when I disagree with some of his previous actions. for reason ed25 points out. and regardless of his theatrics etc. he is an Everton fan through and through (alright he has made a few quid in the process) . However, if he appoints Moyes again, I'll simply be done with football.

I couldn't do it ed. Three reasons, don't believe in going backwards. and it really is a backwards move. Secondly, he does not have the ability to move the club forward, and third, and most important of all, the man's deceitful imo.

Jcl1878

{Ed025's Note - i agree with all that mate..

I hear u stig but for me the team is paramount and stadium second. as a package the club needs to be attractive. so I get the importance of the stadium but right now it seems far less important to me.
