Sky Sports News reports that Alisher Usmanov is again linked to Everton after comments made to Russia 1 (I think) . He is alleged to have said,

"Everton is still far from where it should be. We will also help him. And how. This is my friend's club. "

They are quite speculative about what the comments could possibly mean such as stadium investment, general investment or co ownership but until anything concrete happens it's nothing news. Maybe something is in the pipeline then?

I read on BBC Sport that Manchester United have bid £35 million for Mina and it could happen today, according to the latest gossip. That's what they've said. So in other words they don't know. This has taken a long time to get sorted though I know that much.

1.) 07 Aug 2018 14:59:24
Don't believe it, he will come to us, if we weren't confident, we would of pulled out along time ago, it's all getting abit late in the day now, do man UTD really need another un proven defender, no they need players who are top of there game, if mourinio doesn't get it right this season he will be off.

2.) 07 Aug 2018 16:48:37
go down to the last day with yerry mina i'm afraid us yanited or lyon it'll be.

3.) 07 Aug 2018 17:40:03
It's time we moved on from mina and try for other targets it's clear we are only being used as a last resort we should go for Lille centre back Adam soumaoro who looks a strong defender ideally suited to premier league.

4.) 07 Aug 2018 19:43:48
Mina and his agent say he wants C. L football like David2012 says let's move on and get someone who want to come.

5.) 07 Aug 2018 20:08:29
How good is Mina?

{Ed025's Note - not seen that much of him really DFS, what i have seen he is very strong, good in the air and a huge threat at set pieces, negatives would be that hes not the quickest and can look a bit clumsy at times, others may have different views on him but thats mine for what its worth mate..

6.) 07 Aug 2018 21:07:29
Sounds like you've just described funes mori and we've just let him go for next to nothing.

7.) 07 Aug 2018 21:17:51
We could defiantly do with a centre back with some pace as we have enough slow central defenders as it is.

8.) 09 Aug 2018 10:07:35
We should of well walked away by now, would hope we learned from putting all our eggs in one basket over a striker last summer window.

03 Aug 2018 17:12:25
Well we've signed a keeper. This was just on the EFC website.

Everton completed the signing today of Portugal youth international goalkeeper Joao Virginia from Arsenal on a three-year deal.

Born in Faro, the 18-year-old stopper came through Benfica’s academy and joined Arsenal in 2015.

Virginia made 22 appearances for the Gunners at age-group level last season, featuring for both their Under-18 and Under-23 teams and was part of the Portugal side that beat Italy in the Under-19 European Championship final in Finland on Sunday.

"I am really happy to be at Everton, " said Virginia. "I hope to learn a lot from the goalkeepers here, Jordan Pickford, who had a great season and World Cup and Maarten Stekelenburg, who is very experienced, too. This is a great opportunity for me. ”.

1.) 03 Aug 2018 18:15:10
Great just what we want, no back up for Cenk, or a CB, or a class act in midfield yet, time yet boys/ Gals 5 days left lol.

2.) 03 Aug 2018 18:45:11
The recruitment activity seems to be gathering pace though now that Silva’s had a chance to assess the squad. We seem to be going about thing the right way so I’m quietly confident.

{Ed025's Note - so am i windsor..

3.) 04 Aug 2018 12:00:38
He did say we need to reduce the squad before additional players come in and it looks like Mirallas has now gone so things are gathering pace!
Most of the mooted transfer targets are still available so let’s wait and have some faith in the managements dealings.

02 Aug 2018 17:12:21
We are being linked with Toulouse centre-back Christopher Jullien (along with Southampton and Newcastle) . I can't say I've ever heard of him myself. All it said is he is 6ft 5, 25 years old and French. Could be a defensive replacement for Ashley Williams maybe or just a load of old nonsense!

24 Jul 2018 17:39:27
Malcom joining Barcelona for €41 million it seems instead of Roma. Didn't see that one coming.

{Ed025's Note - nor me howie, but things can change very quickly in football mate as we all know..

1.) 24 Jul 2018 18:09:37
Not surprised he is a very good player.

2.) 24 Jul 2018 18:27:11
Got to be gutted if you’re a Roma fan. You lose your best keeper. But at least you can now afford that player you’ve been looking at, you fend off interest from the premier league clubs. He agrees personal terms. Booked in for a medical, then one phone call from Barcelona and it all goes Pete Tong.

Might not all be true, but makes for a good down on your luck story.

09 Aug 2018 19:34:11
This did get me thinking, Sam Allardyce commented earlier on Sky Sports News that we now have too many wide players? He has a valid point and I do agree to a certain extent (never thought I'd say that) . However I do not know what formation the team will be using or how the team will play to say any different. More options are better than none surely?

1.) 09 Aug 2018 19:59:07
Some of those wide players can also play upfront or just behind the front man so a good balance if you ask me. Fat Sam is only bitter (albeit he has 6million reasons not to be)

2.) 09 Aug 2018 20:03:39
I think richarlison, Bernard, lookman and Walcott can all play across the front 3 or part of a front 2.
Bolasie will go I would imagine.

3.) 09 Aug 2018 20:03:39
Who cares what he says. If we still had him as manager Williams would be starting and non of the players we needed to get rid of would have gone.

4.) 09 Aug 2018 20:32:35
Several can and will go out on loan.
Thanks but M and M have got this one covered Sam. Judge after euro window shuts.
Itching to hear Zuoma confirmed.

5.) 09 Aug 2018 20:36:25
Yes, he would have made williams captain again! Siur grapes, he did the job he ws payed very well to do, but we want to look to the future now.

6.) 09 Aug 2018 21:34:07
He actually dropped Williams like a stone. He used the resources as best he saw fit and recognised the amount of No 10s not only gave Everton a positional problem but also an ego one. The Club were in no amount of excrement prior to his arrival and within a few days he made us difficult to beat and in the end took us to 8th. I to would not like him as a long term Manager but we now have a Manager renowned for not staying anywhere long and with no substantial CV in the Premiership.

{Ed025's Note - how you can be so negative about the manager after today is beyond me to be honest mate..

7.) 09 Aug 2018 22:07:50
DFS you are beyond hope. 🙄.

8.) 09 Aug 2018 22:13:59
DFS since 2015 Allardyce has managed 4 teams.

9.) 10 Aug 2018 09:00:18
Lookman can play wide or inside both flanks, Richarleson can play wide or inside. Part of the reason that Walcott came to us is that Alardyce promised him, he could have his preferred roaming the line role. The new little Brazilian can play wide or cut and thrust through the middle. Sometimes these so-called experts let things get away from them. One of the best bits of business for me, we have done today is inadvertantly holding onto Besic, injury free the job that lad did for Middlesborough was the reason we originally signed him and if he remains injury free, we will have some player.

10.) 10 Aug 2018 09:02:46
Im not sure where this leaves Vlasic, Sandro will probaly be one of 4 Strikers all though there is a real possibility he will go back to Spain again on loan, as I think Silva does rate him. for some reason. but my God what a day it's been. Welcome Mr Mina, Gomes, Bernard ( I keep calling him Bernardo for some reason) and Hopefully Mr Zouma. That defence looks 10times more solid now :)

11.) 10 Aug 2018 09:07:08
No pleasing some people. Send them all back then.

09 Aug 2018 18:44:05
If these signings don't lift the gloom and doom naysayer fans then I don't know what will. Possibly another one to be announced as well. Our transfer team have done fantastic work today. I still can't believe it. Shame about Besic if he did want to go. I like the lad. Especially the passion and tenacity in his play but he always seems to be injured sadly. Probably more to do with his style of play as he does love a tackle. I doubt he would get into the team now (probably as a sub) although he does also play as a CB if my memory serves me right so is still a useful squad player.

1.) 09 Aug 2018 20:31:56
It was the CB that genuinely needed addressing and I honestly believe that these pre-season games and the ease in which Teams cut through us concentrated Silva and Brands minds in an eh up wakeup call. Koeman and Walsh came into money and just went at it in a scattergun approach is my belief without thought of how to integrate so many No: 10's into a system and as a result we saw many square pegs in round holes. These two Brands/ Silva (doubts exist about Silva and his long term commitment (long term meaning longer than two seasons) , have almost certainly approached this Window in a methodical and targetted way. So Howie1878, yes this naysayer is quite happy. Thankyou for your concern.

09 Aug 2018 16:33:22
Marcel Brands and Marco Silva have made a remarkable difference in the calibre of player we have gone after. Really happy with what we've done so far and surprised. There's not long left now so hopefully we'll see some done deals announced. I'm looking forward to seeing some Brazilian flair in midfield, whether it be Richarlison or Bernard. Intrigued now to see how it unfolds.

1.) 09 Aug 2018 16:50:46

Great news. Let's get the others confirmed

2.) 09 Aug 2018 16:59:38

Come on you beauties!

3.) 09 Aug 2018 17:05:54

What next? Come on Zouma

4.) 09 Aug 2018 17:10:55
What a great window. Really strong additions plus losing most of our high earners - the ones left we can still sell to Europe later this month

Can't thank Marcel, Marco and the rest of the team enough.

02 Aug 2018 17:24:53
Burnley have made a £12 million bid for Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson on Sky Sports News just now. That could be another alleged transfer target off to another club. Depending on the Aberdeen result they could offer him Europa league action.

1.) 02 Aug 2018 18:05:22
Jesus, if we can get him for 12 million, just buy him.
Williams cost 12 mill.

2.) 02 Aug 2018 18:11:42
Could mean we’re signing Mee or Tarkowski.

3.) 02 Aug 2018 18:24:55
Don’t know Blue79 - there hasn’t been any smoke let alone fire regarding those two and us in for them.

28 Jul 2018 18:25:50
I see Richarlison has scored against Rennes. Although we are still losing 2-1. I'm really not bothered about any of the results of the friendlies except the 22-0 one ;)

{Ed025's Note - it only matters in 2 weeks time howie..

1.) 28 Jul 2018 18:55:02
The two of you should be worried. We certainly need a CB perhaps two prior to the 11th. Is Silva going to be man enough to pick Digne ahead of Baines? Schneiderlin yet again just not producing, who do we put in that position in a 4 3 3 formation. I support my team through thick and thin and as ED002 says Mr Silva was the one someone advised them to appoint, so of course he has my support. Pre-season is for shake outs and experimentation with formation tactics etc! So far having watched all the games, it is very iffy.

2.) 28 Jul 2018 18:33:10
Exactly Ed025. Some people read too much into the result. It's more about regaining fitness and getting the performance levels back up to speed. Silva will probably know by now what his likely team will be against Wolves.

{Ed025's Note - i think so too mate, thats unless we can bring in a couple and have them up and running in time..

I didn't expect him to report back for preseason if I'm honest. I thought he would have found another club before now. It's a loan rather than a permanent deal I think I read earlier. A lot of fans want him gone anyway.

Perhaps the bubble will get bigger who knows? I'm a lot more optimistic than I was previously after yesterday's activity. Earlier this morning Sky Sports News showed our opening fixture possible starting 11 vs last seasons starting 11 and it was something like 9 different players compared to then. It won't be like they showed though, for a start Andre Gomes is injured I'm led to believe and Zouma still hasn't been ratified yet but the team looked a lot better on paper.

Many teams look to have strengthened well during this window. The likes of West Ham, Fulham and Wolves particularly have caught my eye with some good signings. I'm quite upbeat and looking forward to 5:30pm tomorrow.

I get what you are saying with the youth of the team and agree.

Arsenal fans are annoyed about Virginia leaving as he's regarded as a hot prospect by them. Dowell did well on loan at Nottingham Forest by all accounts, bar a few bad games. Will Lookman an get the game time he craves? We'll see as the season unfolds but I'd like him to get a chance. Tom Davies needs to be more involved in games as sometimes he has a tendency to go missing in games. My biggest worry is that DCL needs to score more goals as he really doesn't get many although he does work hard and try. Holgate needs a consistent run of games in the team. Just my thoughts on those.

My take on it is, if we can get Schneiderlin performing well like we know he can (and who is a good player on his day) then I'd say keep him. If we get last seasons performances bar a few games from him then I can see the fans getting disgruntled with him early on and calling for him to ply his trade elsewhere.

1 Neville Southall (no question)
2 Nigel Martyn (if only he came sooner)
3 Tim Howard (better than I thought he would be)

Only other ones I can remember are Bobby Mimms, Thomas Myhre, Richard Wright and Steve Simonsen. Yes the last two weren't the best for us.
