Sky Sports reporting that Fabian Delph has joined up with the Everton squad in Switzerland ahead of his proposed move from Manchester City.

I think he'll be a useful addition to the squad especially at the prices quoted. To me it seems like he's a replacement for Idrissa Gueye.

Howie1878

1.) 15 Jul 2019 20:05:32
He will mate but I would like Gueye to stay.

2.) 15 Jul 2019 20:50:06
I don't think Delph is the same sort of player as Gana, Delph is a box to box type, very similar to Gomes in my opinion, and us signing him raises a lot of questions about Tom Davies future prospects in the first team.

3.) 15 Jul 2019 20:53:37
As much as I'd like to have Gana stay I think his heads been turned by better and bigger things afoot at PSG.

4.) 15 Jul 2019 21:44:39
Smart business getting Delph can cover a load of positions and push others for a starting place
If Gueye does go and we sign a younger replacement like Sangare, having Delph would ease the pressure if they don’t acclimatise to the premiership pace straight away.

5.) 15 Jul 2019 21:54:01
WE have signed delph in a 3 year deal till 2022 three signing only one I’m happy with is Gomez poor transfers at moment hope next few weeks gets better.

6.) 15 Jul 2019 23:41:58
Why poor transfers White? If you look at last season a few were the same when Gomes, Bernard, Zouma came in, all three did well last season.

A few scoffed when we brought Guaye in from Villa and Richarlison from Watford, even Barry.

I would trust and Silva and Brands in their judgement.

Delph is a very shrewd signing.

I for one is made up with the signing of Delph.

7.) 16 Jul 2019 11:07:15
White u think it's bad signing an international goalkeeper with prem experience on a free as back up? U also think signing a current England International who's just won back to back prem titles playing under one of the best managers in world football for just 8.5m? Alls I can say to that is thank god we have brands and not Mr white.

RB Leipzig back in for Ademola Lookman as reported by BBC Sport yesterday. We are allegedly looking for around £25 million for him. Not sure what has gone on with Lookman but it's just not worked out for him here.

The reports of PSG back in for Gana as well. I know he wants to go so reluctantly I would let him. No point in keeping players who don't want to be here. He hasn't sulked though just got on with it so credit to him for that in this day and age. He will be a big loss if he leaves.

Howie1878

1.) 13 Jul 2019 10:59:58
Both transfers will represent a good profit and the players want the move. In the modern game this is a no brainer. Lookman leaving I can live with, but Gueye will be harder to replace. And let’s face it, if there were better out there then PSG could get them. So that one will be tough.

2.) 13 Jul 2019 11:14:27
Would not like to start season without Zouma and Gueye. The whole spine of team would be gone - particularly as we have no idea who will be upfront.

3.) 13 Jul 2019 15:39:11
I think Gueye has been an absolute gem for us but to deny a move to such a massive club like PSG is really not fair. He is a workhorse, breaks up so many attacking phases and always gives 100%. He does lack many other qualities though such as good passing range and starting off attacking breaks to hit on the counter so it suprises me that he is an automatic pick for Silva's style of play.
Tom Davies looks like he could be a direct replacement already, although he very quickly needs to refine his game. I am a huge fan of the lad, can see his talent shine through often, but his rawness is pretty evident. Temperament is a worry to.
I mainly think that we can cash in on Gueya with Davies as the replacement because the 30 ish million would be vital in funds to address CB and CF, the latter being a position that is never cheap to fulfil.

4.) 13 Jul 2019 16:50:39
Excellent post Worcester.

5.) 14 Jul 2019 11:38:12
I think Davies is the long term replacement too mate and the Delph signing would allow Tom that extra time to grow into that player we all hope he will be.

6.) 14 Jul 2019 20:43:21
How many wingers and midfield do we want. We have Gueye, Davis, Scheiderlin, Gomez plus U23's.

02 Jul 2019 12:57:58
Sky Sports reporting that Sandro is in advanced talks with Real Valladolid. I wonder if it's another loan or a permanent transfer? Hasn't worked out for the lad but I wish him well.

Howie1878

1.) 02 Jul 2019 13:19:34
Loan it looks like Howie, imagine we'd be paying a large chunk of wages too.

2.) 02 Jul 2019 13:29:49
would it be better to offer him a pay off deal?

3.) 02 Jul 2019 14:40:06
Skysports transfer blog reporting that sandro is discussing a permanent transfer to Spanish team hope it's true the lad never really adapted to premier league.

4.) 02 Jul 2019 19:17:26
Only a loan. Let's hope he bangs them in and gets his price tag back up.
Brands doing some good work. 5 already either out of the door or loaned.
Keep it up.

5.) 02 Jul 2019 20:44:17
@David i don't think he adapted to football in his homeland either. Since we loaned him out in attempt to garner a sale he manged 13 games and zero goals for Sevilla followed by 24 games and zero goals for Sociadad. I suspect we will just have to keep loaning him out until his contract expires.

6.) 02 Jul 2019 23:07:33
True Worcester a really bad signing.

7.) 02 Jul 2019 23:16:29
So far he has cost us less than 15 million pounds. Not the greatest signing but we still have a chance to recoup some of that due to his age. Let's hope he gets a Hat full.

23 Jan 2019 13:00:02
Read today that Galatasaray are in talks to sign Henry Onyekuru on a permanent deal. I know his loan seems to be going well with them. I think it would be a shame if true. We never got to see the lad apart from when he signed for us out of the blue. Bloody work permits!

Howie1878

1.) 23 Jan 2019 13:27:01
I'd love to see him in a blue shirt next season think he could wonders in the premiership, definitely would be a shame not to see what he can do and sell him and probably watch him go onto be a top player.

2.) 23 Jan 2019 13:41:11
what can he do?

3.) 23 Jan 2019 15:14:53
Score goals by the looks of it.

4.) 23 Jan 2019 15:24:17
Play through the middle comfortably, has pace to burn and score goals. Could save us a fortune on a striker. He said a while back he wants to play for us and can't see us selling a player who hasn't yet played for us, who had teams not long ago like bayern, looking at him as a player to sign. Why sell?

5.) 23 Jan 2019 19:23:33
Why keep him if he can't ever play for us? Without a work permit, which I'm sure Ed002 says he's unlikely to get, he'll never get to wear the shirt. Whoever signed him clearly didn't do their homework and just assumed he'd be okay.

6.) 23 Jan 2019 19:44:16
Ed002 said we might get a permit on special conditions.
I don't think he's far away on the points total so possibly could get him under special conditions.

What is ironic is over paying for a player can help with a work permit and he is probably the only player we signed in that period that we didn't massively overpay for.

7.) 24 Jan 2019 01:14:04
ah. scores goals in the Turkish league.
Hey. just like Cenk.

8.) 24 Jan 2019 11:17:26
Chinchin he also scored goal in Belgium league. Don't know if he will score in Premier league unless given the chance to do so. For all we know, he could light up the Premiership.

9.) 24 Jan 2019 11:20:19
Chin chin he didn't only score in turkey he scored in Belgium as well I know not the biggest of leagues but he's scored in champions league I know you will point out that cenk scored in Turkey in champions league but the one thing Henry has that cenk dosent have and that is pace.

10.) 24 Jan 2019 11:45:44
It is hard to believe that he cannot get a work permit given the connections with Nigeria as a club and city being both commercial and cultural. Seems wrong to me.

11.) 24 Jan 2019 12:59:23
you do know the stipulations for being eligible for a work visa?

12.) 24 Jan 2019 13:02:06
and Tosun played for all German national teams aged 23 and under and also scored in the Champions League.
See where were going here.

13.) 25 Jan 2019 15:19:39
Henry Onyekuru is a top top player and a different class to Cenk Tosun. He has much more in his locker. I’ll be gutted if we sell him but if we can’t get him on the pitch then guess it’s the only other option. He’ll be playing for one of the best clubs in Europe in the near future, he’s class.

15 Jan 2019 17:00:24
Tyias Browning off to China? Also a championship club rumoured as well
David Unsworth said there maybe some news to be revealed soon allegedly.

Also another rumour is Batshuayi stalling on a possible move to Monaco amid Evertons interest. I don't know what the deal is with the links to him all the time as Ed002 has pointed out numerous times that this is a highly unlikely move.

Howie1878

1.) 15 Jan 2019 18:33:02
Tyias Browning is of some Chinese heritage, maybe the China links are genuine.

2.) 15 Jan 2019 22:46:15
Ed002 Is pretty knowledgeable but there’s no way he could know anymore on incomings or outgoings than what is already being spouted in the media, maybe the Batshuayi rumours are true maybe not, but the horses mouth has said that if players are sold then we could do some business (something like that) we will have to wait and see.

3.) 16 Jan 2019 00:01:50
Or he’s been seen buying new China cups.

I see Sky Sports claim we are interested in Fulham's Aleksandar Mitrovic. I know some fans would like him but I'm not convinced. He misses too many chances and I don't think he's that big an improvement on what we already have. A better quality striker I thought we'd be aiming for but it depends on who is available I suppose.

Howie1878

{Ed025's Note - mitrovic has an attitude problem howie very much like arnautovic, both very good players but come with a lot of baggage mate..

1.) 17 May 2019 18:51:43
So far the linked names of Mitrovic and Lossl don't instill me with much hope. I am expecting better quality players. I can't see Gomes or Zouma coming on permanent deals either but I hope to be wrong there.
Also sorry Ed I didn't see this was posted previously and I was supposed to post it in the rumours section.

{Ed025's Note - no problem mate..

2.) 17 May 2019 19:42:40
Howie the windows been open 24 hours mate have some faith in brands, he's not let us down so far has he.

3.) 17 May 2019 21:41:57
I didn't say he had and I have more faith in him than I ever did with Steve Walsh. I'm just not exactly enthralled with who we've been linked with so far that's all.

4.) 17 May 2019 22:06:09
No reports of richarlison, Bernard or Digne last season until they were holding the shirt up.
I can't see anything the papers reporting as interest as being correct.

5.) 18 May 2019 08:33:32
I read in ssn that we looking at Bertrand Traore and
Jean Kevin Augustine
Just googled both strikers and they look ok on their videos but then again who doesn’t apart from me at the beach 🤣
Big C.

6.) 18 May 2019 10:23:15
I’m not his biggest fan but if you look at it the guy scored 11 goals and 3 assists in a side that were relegated months ago, his work rate is good, strong powerful in the air, I think it is a deal that has great value to it, we have wasted a lot of money over years on players who couldn’t perform in this league. He is 24 and could get more goals in a better side, it’s all well and good saying we need 20goal season striker but how many strikers get that in this league, sign him.

7.) 18 May 2019 12:42:32
It’s just as difficult keeping a 20 goal a season striker as it is getting one in the first place.

8.) 18 May 2019 14:36:21
There will be this rubbish over and over again from the papers believe in Marco and Marcel they will deliver.

21 Apr 2019 15:44:38
Wow! Great all round performance, I'm absolutely beaming. The race for 7th is on! I did say United were there for the taking and that's exactly what the lads did. They went for it and got the 3 points. For me as long as the team is doing well I couldn't care who the manager is although others won't agree with that probably. More performances like this we want. Well done the team, proud evertonian moment.

Howie1878

1.) 21 Apr 2019 21:34:48
Great game mate.

20 Apr 2019 17:03:08
Well looking at the table after this afternoons results we are still in the mix. Only trouble is we ideally need a win tomorrow against Manchester United. They aren't in the best of form so it's probably a good time to be playing them. We can live in hope that the team will put in a good performance tomorrow and get Goodison rocking.

Howie1878

1.) 20 Apr 2019 18:02:31
Considering who the others have to play a point tomorrow will have us in a good position. A win against palace and Burnley and 2 draws would be there and there abouts.

2.) 20 Apr 2019 18:06:28
I am sure we can Howie mate, also very pleasing to hear Marco likes to give the young lads a chance in the first team, just what they need.

3.) 20 Apr 2019 21:23:01
Somehow I see us handing out a whooping tomorrow :-)

{Ed025's Note - i hope so nick, i will be in portugal myself mate cheering on the lads with a cool beer in hand..

4.) 21 Apr 2019 07:30:25
Enjoy Ed mate.

{Ed025's Note - cheers GB..

5.) 21 Apr 2019 17:43:44
Blimey I was right lol.

15 Apr 2019 20:35:34
Even though we lost against Fulham results have gone quite favourable for us with the other teams dropping points. As I type this Watford are losing 0-1 against Arsenal so currently another potential favourable result. My worry (which has been mentioned) are the remaining fixtures against Manchester United and Spurs which are matches I would think we'd drop points. Obviously I'd like to be wrong with that assumption. All the other fixtures left are winnable in my mind. So we'd still need other results to go in our favour.

Howie1878

1.) 16 Apr 2019 21:33:51
So we are reliant on others now are we? Surely with more money spent and a superior squad, shouldn't the least be to finish 8th, as per last season.

2.) 17 Apr 2019 07:13:16
It's a little bit different this year BCT. Most of the teams around us (leicester, wolves and West ham) have spent a lot more than us this season. In fact, everyone above us except Tottenham have outspent us.

We can't simply expect to waltz into 7th and 8th anymore even after spending 80 million.
We have been outspent and will continue to be because our last 2 managers blew all our money on inadequate players.

Silva and Brands have to ship out the unwanted/ not good enough players and try and rebuild this squad. They can't do that in one season.

You're just going to have to accept that we are now in a fight for 7th to 10th with other teams that have as much if not more money than us.

08 Apr 2019 12:26:36
Well we are currently on a roll (finally) . After some poor performances/ games we've witnessed this season this is a very welcome change of fortune. The stand out game for me was the fantastic performance against West Ham. I'm over the moon with wins against Chelsea and Arsenal too. But if anything, for me this has highlighted how wasteful we are in front of goal. We should have definitely scored more, I'm not trying to be overly critical as we did enough in each game. DCL yesterday put in a great display and I think he will get better but we need more clinical attackers. Bernard needs to add goals to his game. He had a gift yesterday and still fluffed it. I'd go as far to say I even praised Walcott when he came on and that never happens. I would also like to echo the other posts about signing Gomes and Zouma permanently if possible.

Howie1878

1.) 08 Apr 2019 15:42:23
I thought we played well again yesterday and fully deserved a 3 or 4 goal win. On another day the players that missed those chances would take them all so no point in being too critical of them for missing. The whole team again played well and there were no passengers.

2.) 08 Apr 2019 18:10:52
Don't believe Bernard's was as easy as you think. Felt the keeper closed him down really quick and gave him little to aim at. Would rather focus on how he read what the defender was going to do to get himself in that position.
The goals will come as the confidence builds. And on a final note it's nice to have a manager who shows passion on the touch line. Long may it continue.

3.) 08 Apr 2019 19:23:38
Bernard should have taken the shot earlier but that is being overly critical as it wasn't an easy chance.
It is nice to see Silva celebrating with passion and I will be over the moon when we score in next season's derby and he does a lap of the pitch whilst cartwheeling around like a loon.

4.) 08 Apr 2019 20:41:04
Now that would make my day Smit mate.

{Ed025's Note - mine too..

5.) 08 Apr 2019 20:57:00
Moon walk past Klop would do for me, no half measures.

6.) 08 Apr 2019 21:08:33
I take it we all love Klopp lol.

7.) 09 Apr 2019 07:11:08
I don't think DCL missed many chances so talk of a more clinical striker is a little off the mark. The chances we created would have gone in on another day. What pleased me most was the clean sheet again and how we restricted them to very few chances but at the same time created loads ourselves. It is as Silva says. a confidence thing. On another day we could hav scored 5 or 6 against West Ham and 2 or 3 against Arsenal. But teams that do that are few and far between.

We are not suddenly going to sign Aguero or Sterling. So what we need is continual improvement. We have done that this season. We are creating chances and we are at last restricting our opponents to few chances. That gives us a platform to build from. We were like this in the 80's and signed Graeme Sharpe. He looked like DCL and most thought he would not be good enough. He was thought not clinical enough. How it turned out was somewhat different.

8.) 09 Apr 2019 19:21:49
To be fair Degsy DCL has come on leaps and bounds but has also missed some real sitters this season.
We need a striker who will score them, we aren't going to have it all our own way in every game.
We need to be more clinical and that is not just DCL.

9.) 09 Apr 2019 19:31:21
To be fair degsy, Sharps derby goal that not even the camera could keep up with lacked any sort of clinical technique. (There’s no better goal that I can remember in a royal blue jersey)

10.) 09 Apr 2019 21:12:09
I have to say I don't remember him missing too many sitters but maybe that's my blue brain in action?

11.) 10 Apr 2019 18:02:32
I did say clinical attackers and I wasn't singling any particular player out really (just the Bernard chance stuck in my head) although it seems everyone thinks I'm on DCL's case, I'm not. If I was to look to a player, it would have been Sigurdsson as he seemed to have the most wasted chances that I remember. As I said though we did enough to get the wins and the points on the board and I was very happy.

With regards to the final league position there's a lot of work still to be done. We have Man Utd and Spurs still left to play I think the chances of 7th are optimistic at best but I would love to be very wrong on that. The summer transfer window should be quite interesting with the ins and outs.

Good luck to the lad and I'm sure he'll be playing more regularly there. For whatever reason it just hasn't worked out for him at Everton. Showed flashes of potential at times but never really got a good run in the first team. I wonder if they have a replacement lined up? Another LW being brought in just to humour Ed002 perhaps haha!

Any degree of truth to the reports that Moshiri wants to sign Diego Costa though Ed? He is definitely better than our current striking options in my opinion. As you say though it could be not to the wishes of Brands and Silva. I'd take him although hope he behaves himself. His on field antics are entertaining but he does sometimes go over the top.

Howie1878

{Ed002's Note - As I have said, I understand what is happening here and Moshiri is taking third party advice still and may well be calling the shots here - and if an approach is made Brands and Silva may not be happy. This is not a dissimilar situation to last summer.}

Well we'll have to wait and see if it is true. If he does sign for Spurs then good luck to him, they are a more attractive proposition than ourselves sadly in this moment of time. I would like us to sign him myself. On a positive note I have faith in Marcel Brands to get the right type of players in come the summer.

So much for the youth being given a chance this season then (I jest, I know we have other young prospects) . They do need to be playing regularly to aid their development/ gaining experience and if going out on loan is the best solution then it has to be done.

I honestly don't know who we could potentially sign but we are in need of a striker.

There are free agents available with Premier League experience such as Mario Balotelli, Danny Welbeck, Daniel Sturridge, Andy Carroll, Wilfried Bony, Shinji Okazaki, Abel Hernandez, Laurent Depoitre, Fernando Llorente plus a few more but I don't think the club will see any of these as viable options or what they are looking for.

I must say that I feel a bit sorry for West Ham United with the Arnautovic nonsense. Especially as they had the whole Payet debacle a few seasons ago too. We almost signed Arnautovic at one point (allegedly) so we have dodged a potential bullet there. He never struck me as having a great attitude, more of a bad egg or a disruptive influence. The thing is Chinese football pays ridiculously well these days so it's no wonder that players want to go there.

Anyway back to Everton. I'm still hoping for us to sign a CB and another striker. Neven Subotic could be a suitable addition as I think he's a free agent now after his release from St. Etienne, although at 30 he probably doesn't fit the brief but an experienced player nonetheless. As for a striker then I haven't got the foggiest at the moment.

I would like to echo that sentiment. He has been a great signing, absolutely outstanding and a model professional. I still fondly remember his equalising volley in the derby many moons ago, fantastic hit at the death of the game. I was jumping around like a lunatic. I'm not sure if he will retire now but if he does find another club, I will wish him well. If he ever plays against us then I've no doubt he will have a great reception from our fans.

Howie1878
