I see a few posts mentioning the possibility of finishing in seventh place which is achievable but I personally think our achilles heel is our woeful goal difference. After our disappointing shall we say season I'd be more than happy with a top ten finish especially after being in the bottom half.

In regards to Sam Allardyce I think he will be in charge until at the very least the end of the season. He has done what was expected of him. Although the football style has been less than stellar (I myself am very critical) we have had decent results and much needed points. It's hard on the eye to watch but if it gets results then it will have to do for now.
If (as other people have said) he secures us a better than expected league finish then it probably will be a case of him seeing out his 18 month contract.

I think the main complaint with most fans is the boring play style and team selection. I don't think we know what our best eleven is at the moment and we certainly can play a lot more attractive attacking football.

{Ed025's Note - i must say i feel exactly the same howie..

good post Howie. Thumbs up from me.

The next 2 away games will be pivotal to Sam's tenure. We need away performances and wins. If we switch back to 2 defensive mids or go 5 at the back again, I don't think the fans will stomach it.

Our best 11 (Sam thought) for now started on Saturday, Martina was a revelation, haven't seen that performance all Season, there is a player in there. The rest apart from Mangala (a walking mistake) pick themselves on that form. So that just leaves a choice of Holgate, Williams or Jags to partner Keane. We shall see if Sam reverts to type in our next away game or gives it a right go for the rest of the season.

{Ed025's Note - dont hold your breath DFS..

Mori played well today looked fit maybe he is in contention for the left cb spot also.

5.) 12 Feb 2018 21:59:39
forgot about Mori johny1989. I am somewhat of a maverick in players that I like and Mori comes into that category, Besic is/ was another. The problem is with these types of player; you will not get a full season out of them and particularly so in the Premiership. Catch22 situation, try to temper their style of play so they get less injuries and you remove some of the player and form.

mori injury record isn't that bad this last injury was just an unfortunate accident he will be back strong on the left in the next couple weeks, he could be the answer to the lb problem.

mori has one unfortunate injury, should be nowhere near the besic category.

So it looks as if the Cenk Tosun deal could potentially not happen due to the fee not being agreed (although this could change) , if so are there any other forward options we've been linked to of late? (apart from Walcott) .

In regards to the performance in the United game it was very much an average display from both teams first half. Second half United came out more attacking minded and deserved to win the game overall. We just didn't get going sadly. Our final ball was lacking as were the.

Ok my apologies Ed002, I'll have a look through when I can. Cheers for the input anyway.

We demanded (and got) massive fees for Stones and Lukaku, so we can’t complain when other clubs demand likewise of us for their players.

{Ed0333's Note - Good point Bobby

I’ve read some posts by people claiming he’s a 5-7m € player and that we are massively over paying because he has a few goals this season and we are Everton of the EPL. I really don’t see Roma offering the same amount, probably club and advisors passing half true information to twist Everton’s arm and push through a sale.

Many players find coming to the Premier League a bit more demanding and faster paced than what they are used to. It's early days yet with Cenk Tosun and we've not really seen anything of him yet so I'm relatively hopeful. Time will tell whether it will be a decent transfer or not. As for Davy Klaassen, well he hasn't had a look in all season apart from the European games, in which he wasn't really impressive. He seems to be overlooked all the time and I think we'll try and move him on in the summer.

My view is that if he wants out then the sensible thing to do business wise is sell him on. A lot of disappointed Evertonians probably but loyalty in football has disappeared these days. Best example of a player that idolises their club and showed unquestionable loyalty (even when better and bigger clubs came calling, no disrespect intended) that I can think of was Matthew Le Tissier. Fabulous player and could have done so much more but stuck with Southampton rightly or wrongly. Money is king these days with the ludicrous wages on offer. It's a short career but I'd wish him well if he did go.

Ok yes it wasn't the best football to watch but a dogged performance.
We were resolute at the back and seem to be doing the basics right again. Reminiscent of the dogs of war era in some RESPECTS granted.
Credit where it's due though, Big Sam has transformed us in a matter of weeks. Still lots of potential points on offer and with the January transfer window imminent, I'd imagine we are going to bolster our attack and defence plus offload the players Sam deems surplus to requirements. Proud to be a toffee!
