Why would Moyes bid an amount he knew would not even be in the ball-park? Davey and BK surely would have a chat before a formal bid was made. And why would Everton release the information if it would trigger the players requesting a transfer? And if it were Man U who leaked the info, why would they include the 'insulting' part, suggesting they don't value the players enough? Conspiracy theories to consider:

A) BK wants to make it look like he has played hard-ball before selling to avoid the public slaughter he will get when he eventually sells them

B) BK trying to flush out the players requests to move early enough to respond

Anyone else smelling something a bit fishy here?

Bra Boy Blue

1.) Hit the nail on the head with this its just another unsubstantiated rumour

2.) You obviously have too much time on your hands and too much herbs to smoke with this paranoid chat.

3.) 19 Aug 2013 14:02:24
no I don't just Manchester United and moyes trying there hand, everton must have to inform the players of any bids received even ones which are blatenley
taking the p"^s we should bid 20 million for rooney and van persie moyes shafted us once already now he's at it again the man should be ashamed of himself all these people saying its not moyes .having a laugh so the chairman of Manchester United just made a bid without talking to mr moyes first, bill must be gutted

4.) Man U haven't got any money they mustn't have that bid is just poor

5.) You can keep both .Baines I rate but not at his age, I'd prefer Luke shaw.Fellaini simply isn't good enough. You honestly think anyone would pay 20 million for a29yr old left back and 30 million for a mediocre midfielder.GEt real {Ed025's Note - then why are you after them?....

6.) Nice reply Ed. Boy needs a labotomy.

7.) Well said ed

8.) How old was van persie when you bought him and how much did he cost? see. blows your baines theory to bits ye daft manc crank. 18BLUEBOY78

Anyone think this Baines bid and rejection is positive PR agreed between Moyes and BK to add some positive weight to the 'we are in a good position' sound bytes?

Bra Boy Blue

1.) No, I think utd want Baines and within 2 weeks he will be at OT.

2.) Hope not. Every player has a price. But I think he and Jags are not replaceable with the transfer fees they will generate. Felli is immense but can be replaced for 24 mn. Not worried about that.

3.) 28 Jun 2013 12:19:06
reading far too much into this as being conspiricy by moyes and kenwright. just read it as being what it is. moyes admires baines as would any other manager around the world. evra is getting older and utd need a replacement. baines is one of the best left backs in the world. utd make a bid. everton reject all offers for him. baines wears efc shirt against norwich 1st game of season. end od discussion. craighuytonblue

Listening to the pre Spurs press conference, Martinez stated that Howard's value is his experience in such an inexperienced back 4 (I'm paraphrasing of course as RM's answers are far longer than that) .

I think RM cops some unfair stick at times, but I just can't see the 'experience' benefit making up for Howard's individual performances. Wouldn't be surprised if there is a strong player involvement in the selection of Howard over Joel (eg Jags/ Baines) . Either way though, Martinez has to live and die by his decisions and the Howard saga is not doing him any favours.

Bra Boy Blue

1.) 30 Dec 2015 12:01:24
It would appear that anyone who questions his decisions gets blanked out the team, and as we don't appear to have any leaders on the pitch, can't see why anyone of them would open up off it.

With respect to any payment for Stones. Don't understand the 'hope it's not justing wiping out lukaku's debt' concern. To make a deal like that for Lukaku in the first place they would have to get approval from creditors. If they get that forward debt wiped, the club has that equity, spending or borrowing power again, at least to the same level as the wiped debt. However the money is provided IF they sell Stones, they will only be restricted by CHOOSING not to spend it, or at the very least, to negotiate deals with payment terms (which these days is standard practise). So not sure why this is even a discussion point?

The biggest issue surrounding the performance culture of the team, and why the fans are now on RM's back is the setting if standards. While it is supportive, not acknowledging when we have simply been not good enough and always to looking to outside factors to blame simply tells the team that nothing needs to change, and whatever you did today (which was not good enough to win) is in fact good enough. So as a player, why would I change what I am doing, the boss is happy, why would we rally, it is just luck going against us. Take away all the selection issues, tactics etc etc, the players on the field are better than their league position and performances, but only when they are matching the intensity of their competition, and as fans I don't think we have aren't that. What worries me the most is that all the solutions RM keeps referring to are based on fortune and outside factors, which in any business is a scary sign. In any business strategy I have ever seen, it never says, "keep doing what you're doing and hope for some luck"

Bra Boy Blue

{Ed025's Note - thats why he is a fraud bra boy, talks a really good game but cant get the players to produce..

1.) 08 Mar 2015 09:08:11
Martinez won successive relegation battles as manager with Wigan Athletic in 2010, 2011 and 2012 before they went down in 2013, days after winning the FA Cup.

"Yes, yes, but I've been down with 36 points and it's very tough to get 36 points in this league, " Martinez said. He was also asked if he thought his style was too pass heavy which slowed us down, his reply was never you can never have to much passing. The point of this is, knowing those stats why the heck did Bill Kenwright hire the man. Those stats indicate that last season was a blip and this season is the norm under Martinez leadership. The bloke even acknowledges he is used to it for gods sake. Bill Kenwright will never be forgiven as the man who hired the man responsible for taking this great club down in over 60 years should it happen. And even if we do not go down Bill has to get rid, because from the stats above we are in for this every season.

2.) 08 Mar 2015 10:00:41
Great post DM. It would seem that 36pts is 'tough' this season and that in itself tells us everything we need to know. He makes it sound like reaching this magic number is an achievement. Which it is if done before Xmas.

3.) 08 Mar 2015 11:17:21
DM. Agreed. He has managed to build a myth around his management for the last 5 years where survival meant success! Again, a sub-standard level of success to aim for. When momentum is positive, he took the credit and obviously the players were riding the high of having a new manager with a more expressive style. Maybe they felt a bit unshackled. But this season was his and his alone. Only he could build the momentum from his planning, his training, his culture. And you can see the results. It just scares me to think that he is genuinely happy with th performances, and worse, if he doesn't actually think that, then he is just saying it because he thinks that's what we want to hear.

4.) 08 Mar 2015 11:23:40
BTW Ed, I am not sure he does talk a great game. If he did, we wouldn't be giving him the lashing we currently are, because we'd be eating up all the spin he comes out with.

It would be great to know if anyone out there is a supporter and does buy into what he is saying?

Seriously guys. Think you doomsdayers are taking a very narrow view. Firstly, do you think Martinez will come out and slate individuals publicly? Do you even want a manager to do that? No. So just because he doesn't say It, doesn't mean he isn't taking a different action in the background. People on here suggesting it was the worst performance in years.?? Really? Really guys? The first goal was not a tactical defensive issue, two guys closed the ball, he skipped past both and Hibbo and his mate got done. Simple. Individual defensive error from a player who hasn't played. Distins mistake. We had everyone covered until he tried to eat grass, individual mistake. Not a player, just a mistake that got punished. Third goal was an individual giving the ball away plus poor goalkeeping. Is that tactics is it?
And let's not slate the management for playing players who haven't had game time. What happens in the PL when Players get injured or suspended, do you want then to throw players in that haven't played for 6 months. Bottom line is, I would love to see them win the cup but out of all the competitions it's the least important. Simple. That team on the park should be good enough if they were in form. You can't get your squad players inform without playing. And in the end, the only place we were outclassed was conversion of opportunities (and are we suggesting Eto and Lukaku are a poor attacking option, are they bad players now are they?)

I know it's an opinion site, but let's have at least some balance of judgement over a longer period rather than Wanting to slate everyone based on the first 5 games. Maybe fans want to be those controversial clubs.

Like I said yesterday mate, its embarrassing what some posters say, I can understand passion gets you sometimes but some people need to have a little think before they start typing, I know its a banter site but that to me is not banter, it's just sad, miserable, doom mongering, depressing and embarrassing.

Funny some posters slating the Koppites yet some of ours sound worse

bit of decorum eh Blues, we always spout about having more class than anyone, start showing it then

ridiculing Lukaku and most of the other players and slating the best manager we have had for decades is, sorry shouldn't be what we are about.

He has a plan, and just because we are showing a dip in form doesn't mean we are going to be relegated.

Rant over

2.) Well said, its absolutely brilliant that we win nothing every season. Can everyone just be happy please that we go year after year as losers. It will make this site so much better for everyone if we all just smile everytime we get beat.

I don't even know why people get upset anymore, surely after 20 years of winning bugger all, we all must be accustomed to it by now.

We are Everton
#Wedontwinanything
That's what we do

3.) You used that one yesterday Mike. Bit disappointing that to be honest.

You know what, you have a point. Our first team should have been on the park to make certain we won at Swansea, just like we did on the weekend. Oh that's right, our best 11 got beat on the weekend too. Martinez should be harder and look angry in the news conferences, that will fix the players making individual errors. You know those players who narrowly missed the CL over 38 games and had one of the best records in the league vs the title contenders last year that are suddenly Championship quality. either spark up boys or Martinez will replace you with someone else. You mean the ones the fans complain about when Martinez puts them on the field.? That would be them. See, simple, easy fixed.

#WeChangeWithTheBreeze

4.) What are you on about mate?

I never said we should have played the first team or that Martinez should look angry in news conferences.

I haven't even said we are Championship quality so don't know what that is about either.

The only problem I have is that stupid Martinez mural that should never have been put up in the first place. But that wasn't Martinez's fault.

And we shouldn't have lost to a crap Palace team either so I don't know what your point is.

If you expect me to be happy after 2 piss poor performances then you are seriously mistaken.

I will also be using this as my sign off from now on so you better get used to it.

We are Everton

I think this weekend is a good example of how this race is over 38 games, and the points you pick up are less important than the teams you pick them up against (within reason).

We were down in the dumps on Wednesday morning after the derby, and looked like dropping more points against Villa. but by the end of yesterdays games we have closed the gap that the RS opened up, jumped back above Spurs and given ourselves a good break on the Mancs. I realise that any game against the teams you are competing with is worth "double points", but individual results will be irrelevant if you can keep picking up points over larger blocks of time.

What makes me confident is that we have been the most consistent of us, L'Pool, Spurs and Man U. The others have had periods of climbing the table and sliding down. So if this is our tough period (which every team has), we are well positioned.

Mirallas getting more confident and being used more centrally, Coleman back from injury, players like Barkley, Jags, Distin and Del Boy working back to full fitness in key positions. We still have some risk areas in depth (LB & CM) that players need to stay fit, and some questionable areas such as up front, but with some luck and good management, we should remain confident, regardless of the off bad result (which are inevitable) with 14 odd games still to play.

Stay with the boys and we will finish strong!

Bra Boy Blue

1.) We have/are drawn too many games

2.) Great post Bra bra let's have faith. After the weekend certain results have fallen our way. Let's be confident into going into next week's match at Tottenham. Players are coming back from injury and we are capable of securing 3 points although we are going to have to be careful. A 1-0 result will be good enough, without Romelou. Kevin Miralles is currently on form and I fancy him to score.

Why is it that when a player chooses another club for more wages it is because the club is run like a joke? Lot of disappointment because a squad player from the Championship decided to join another club.

Love Naisy as a footballer and looks to be an even better bloke off the pitch. Clinical in front of goal but his build up play can be poor at times. Would love to see him stay, but if he wants more regular football, 8mn is good business as he won't get it here.

How attractive the club is to the player impacts the wage negotiations. The only time the destination should impact the transfer amount is when the bidding club is a direct rival and the selling club adds some compensation to the value

Barry included in the clear out.? I know he is getting on, but he has been one of best players this season, and has played almost every game, showing no signs of age. Besic on form deserves to come into one of the two deeper midfield roles, for sure, but at Barry's expense.?

At the start of the year a trophy and champions league qualification would have been hailed as an amazing season. If we win the Europa League and qualify to CL that way, then the objective would have been met, however ridiculously frustrating and uninspiring the journey has been.

BTW- I think we are a long way off winning the EL just yet so it's all just theoretical really.

But why is the FA Cup any less of a mickey mouse trophy than the EL? The title contenders don't play their best teams and get knocked out, and if you go all the way you only have to play 2-3 top 10 premier league teams max.

If The league leaders are excited by winning the League Cup then let's not be too picky here.

No matter who is in charge I hope we do well, and if it's him. Then I'll be the first to put my hand up. But I think it will now take a lot to win the fans back, and one season won't do it, as the risk of the next poor season will always hang over us.

He hasn't done enough with the youth to give us confidence that we are just experiencing a 'changing of the guard' year from old to new, as we can't even say that we have blooded any youngsters. It took Garbutt 30 games to get a run, Barkley has gone backwards, we are no closer to having competition for RB, CF, the 2 CB's and natural wingers. The only place we have real competition is in the holding midfielder roles, and he keeps picking Barry over the players who show any form like Besic.

There have been managers that have copped more flack and been sacked for significantly better performances and results than what he is dishing up. But let's face it, he will be there come August. I just hope he is still in the Premier League.
