Hi Ed's,

Have we had any contact with Juventus in regards to signing Mandzukic?

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

1.) 16 Jul 2019 19:11:43
Too old and too costly for our budget I would have thought.

2.) 16 Jul 2019 19:36:12
I would be very surprised at this one for more than one reason.

25 Jun 2019 14:57:16
Hi Eds,

Any idea if any clubs are interested in Mirallas?

{Ed002's Note - No, but Everton should look to letting him go as a free agent if the player agrees.}

17 Jun 2019 09:47:40
Looks like Brands is interested in a deal for Santiago Arias, Colombian right back who plays for Atletico Madrid

Likely to be a loan for now, Brands has worked with him previously at PSV

Bid has reportedly gone in for Thiago Mendes of Lille, not sure whether this has any substance as he is not the same type of player as Gueye, and article states Gueye leaving as the reason this has been made.

And on Neres, looks like Ajax have raised their price for him, looks like this one could drag on all window.

1.) 17 Jun 2019 13:44:43
On neres subject Ajax saying 80 million is he worth that have we got that amount of money if we have where does that leave other potential targets neres would be a brill signing shows our intent but 80 mill mmmm can see this if it happens end of window.

2.) 17 Jun 2019 14:12:33
£80million is the new £40 🙄.

3.) 17 Jun 2019 14:46:19
I don't think money is an issue, is he worth it is more important?

4.) 17 Jun 2019 15:39:50
Cant see us taking a risk on an 80million pound signing from the dutch league to be honest with you, 40/ 50 was pushing it.

5.) 17 Jun 2019 16:04:42
I think money could be an issue as don’t think any of us know much about the club finances, do we have to sell before we buy, how does ffp may affect our spending?

Is he worth it is definitely the question Charlie.
I’m not sure he is at that price, looks a good prospect but that’s a lot of money for a prospect.

6.) 17 Jun 2019 16:27:06
He says he wants Premier League football. If he’s going to start pushing for a move then that may drive the price down.

7.) 17 Jun 2019 16:48:57
Personally I reckon some journalists are trying to push a story with that inflated fee, that’s more than what they sold Frenkie de Jong for

I think he could bring something to the team so will wait to see what Brands does.

8.) 17 Jun 2019 17:51:55
Bernard Richarlson neres up front sound good poss one of our exciting front three we had for long time.

9.) 17 Jun 2019 17:14:21
Hi Ed002 have Everton has any contact with the agent or Ajax over Neres or do you see him moving to a bigger club than us thanks.

{Ed002's Note - David Neres (RW/LW) has been watched but no approach has been made to Ajax by Everton that I am aware of and I would have thought he would be out of reach financially.}

10.) 17 Jun 2019 18:48:36
Cheers Ed with Ajax already selling some players for big money they can afford to hold out for a higher price. Would Malcom still be a option for Everton as he would be more financially viable and tried to sign him last summer? Thanks again ed.

{Ed002's Note - Ajax are a significantly casy rish club that are also looking to hold on to players - which is why they can afford to price players at the very high end. Malcom would need Everton to act quickly as there are clubs with European football to offer showing an interest.}

11.) 17 Jun 2019 19:24:29
Looks like the more prestige players we are looking at are looking to be out of reach as we don’t offer European football.

12.) 18 Jun 2019 11:05:04
Seems like this one isn't going to happen. 80m is a crazy price for someone that hasn't been tested in one of the "big leagues" unless you have unlimited funds. I imagine he would want a high wage which would mean offloading players, who wouldn't need a direct replacement, which doesn't seem to be happening.

14 Jun 2019 09:41:02
Reported that Everton reps are in Barcelona to finalise a deal for Gomes, and personal terms have already been agreed

Imagine this will get done by Monday.

1.) 15 Jun 2019 22:40:26
Seems pretty certain now. Such an important player for us.

11 Jun 2019 11:00:29
Hi Eds,

Any idea on the teams interested in Niasse, and whether anyone has made a move to sign him?

{Ed025's Note - as far as i know blu99 we are finding it hard to offload him mate, that could easily change when holidays are over and clubs start looking for new players but at the moment there is zilch im afraid..

1.) 11 Jun 2019 15:03:02
Only to be expected Ed. I think we need to accept we will take a massive loss on him.

{Ed025's Note - i think your right mate...unfortunately..

2.) 11 Jun 2019 18:11:41
I thought there was some interest out in Turkey or round that way where he had played in the past.

{Ed025's Note - turkey being the operative word ST.. :)

3.) 11 Jun 2019 18:44:15
I think the moving of players on is going to be marcels toughest task this summer and not the recruitment.
I can’t see any of the names mentioned as possibly leaving (Tosun, Mirallas, Niasse, bolasie etc. ) as actually making a return on the investment in them, Lookman may be the exception, but the others I’m sure will be sold for far less than we paid.
Hopefully though it’s a start of a new era with the appointment of Marcel and we will demonstrate a sensible recruitment policy with no panic buys or paying big prices for unproven players, things we as a club seem to have lacked in previous transfer windows.

4.) 11 Jun 2019 22:05:13
Correct there will be no return on investment on those 4 mentioned but that’s not really what’s important here
Bolasie is reportedly costing £75k per week so that’s just shy of £4m a season 😬
Mirralas was £70k so he’s a bit over £3.5m per season
Sandro is £3.3m per year
Tosun £3.1m
Niasse £2.8m
Martina £1.8m
Besic £1.5m
Garbutt £1.5m
Vlasic £1.3m (might squeeze out a profit)
Galloway £1.2m
That’s £24m of salaries on players nowhere near the first team apart from Tosun but it seems he’s not fancied by Silva
It’s not ideal but I would take losses on these to move the recruitment forward and Brands plan does seem to be younger talent that would have a resale value.

5.) 11 Jun 2019 22:21:48
Just goes to show the recruitment is miles better now.
Imagine our return on investment if we sold Bernard, Ricky or Digne now.

6.) 11 Jun 2019 23:19:24
They are paid too much we will have to take losses on all of them and probably part pay wages. The crazy spending in the passed is costing us now, we must learn from it.

7.) 12 Jun 2019 00:21:24
Wherever Niasse ends up the guy gave everything for Everton, disgusting how he was treated by ofm, I wish him the best of luck, just did not work out for him, but cannot fault his effort and humanity towards Everton Football Club.

8.) 12 Jun 2019 07:12:47
A mate of mine saw bolasie at the championship play off final (he’s a blue but just got a ticket for it) and bolasie told him that he’s not going anywhere, and will see his contract out. You can see that being the case with all of them.

9.) 12 Jun 2019 12:14:05
Bluetron- shame to hear that but can see where he’s coming from.
Stay with us and get paid? £75k per week or move somewhere else where probably wouldn’t get anywhere near that amount per week.
If you’re just in it for the money it’s a no brainier to stay, if you want to play games and try to get picked for national team then the pay cut and a move would be the option.
Not sure how many of the players we’re looking to move on sit in the later category.
We’re paying for our previous poor recruitment policy. Will be a fair few seasons before this is rectified but confident Brands will be up to this challenge.

RMC in France reporting we will soon make a £31m bid for Malcom, be interesting to see if he wants the move since he turned us down last summer.

1.) 08 Jul 2019 16:57:32
For Barcelona, who now don’t want him by all accounts. I’d like to see this one happen. Still very young. Quality on his day.

2.) 08 Jul 2019 18:43:01
Quality signing if we can get him.

3.) 08 Jul 2019 21:33:38
I thought we only pursued him in January on a loan deal. Might be wrong though.

27 Jun 2019 11:02:34
Hi Eds,

I know that there is a lot of speculation regarding Neres, but was wondering if we have talked to Ajax regarding Hakim Ziyech at all?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

1.) 27 Jun 2019 11:29:38
Thanks Ed, knew this would be a very unlikely transfer, seeing as he wants to go to an elite club.

{Ed002's Note - Combined with Everton having no interest in the player.}

10 Jan 2019 19:37:33
Hi Eds,

Any idea if Gueye will leave this window? From what the media have said it looks like he is keen to move to PSG (who wouldn't)

This does worry me as we will desperately need a replacement, and I know there's interest in Doucoure but they aren't particularly the same type of player

I have seen links to Wilmar Barrios and Thiago Mendes, are they players we are keen on/ in talks with? Can't imagine we would sanction a sale for Gueye if a replacement wasn't readied.

{Ed025's Note - it does look like we may lose him blu and if we do we need a replacement in, who that will be i would be guessing but we have known this for a while so there should be someone lined up mate..

1.) 10 Jan 2019 20:46:07
Barrios will add that bit of steel we need in front of back 4.

2.) 10 Jan 2019 23:35:18
Wonder whether Baines could convert like lahm did? Could offer a temporary solution if we need to wait until the summer.

3.) 11 Jan 2019 00:34:10
Doucoure is available and would be the man for me. He would offer the attacking threat that Gueye never could and is a decent age also.

4.) 11 Jan 2019 07:20:42
We have a ready made replacement for Gueye in front of back four or even a partner should he stay. Note the runs Zouma makes forward, it is no coincidence. Chelsea have played him in front of the back four and it shows.

5.) 11 Jan 2019 10:56:31
Baines and Zouma are obvious possibilities. but isn't McCarthy fit again? didn't he play that role when Barry was with us?

6.) 11 Jan 2019 13:48:22
He did degsyp and could do it again. Needs an iron hand though to prevent him galloping off and around although not the Davis headless chicken game.

7.) 11 Jan 2019 19:01:16
Davies has ability DFS he just needs to listen to his coaches. If you remember the goal he got against Man City when he first burst onto the scene, he was 18? Ok he is 21 now and does as you say run around a bit too much, but I thought Gomez would be able to help him positionally. we will have to wait and see. In theory Davies could do the holding midfielder. He is strong, good engine, fast enough and can tackle a bit. With good coaching over say 2 seasons he would be an excellent holding midfielder. if he listens.

{Ed025's Note - hes a bit lightweight for me degsy and gives the ball away too much, im not giving up in him just yet but its time for him to step up to the plate mate..

21 Jul 2018 09:29:17
Mina's agent has said he has spoken to Brands but he really wants to play for Barca, can't blame him that's everyone's dream!

I do believe however that they will allow him to go so should open the door for us to sign him

Richarlison looks like it will get done before Monday which is great news, I thought he would be a player who would go to Spurs

We've placed a bid for Digne, who knows if he even wants to join! And same with Malcom, imagine Roma is a more attractive option for him

I still think we need a right winger as Richarlison would play on the left, and Walcott is made of glass. Sandro is not good enough to play as a winger.

1.) 21 Jul 2018 13:21:31
Walcott is more than capable for me.

20 Jul 2018 07:32:20
Hi Eds,

New to the website so forgive me if I'm not asking this in the right way! Is there any news on Malcom? I understand we enquired with his agent but now it seems as though Roma will be using the Alisson money to buy him

Leaves me a bit worried as we still haven't made a signing, and Malcom would be our best player pretty much.

{Ed025's Note - malcom would be great blu but it looks like he is off to roma mate, we will do some business next week though mate..

1.) 20 Jul 2018 18:06:26
Welcome Blu. You'll fit right in here if your worried about the lack of signings.

2.) 20 Jul 2018 18:15:20
seen rumours going around that Lookman hadn't travelled to Portugal ed. Please settle my nerves and tell me it's not true mat.

{Ed025's Note - im trying to find out joe but no luck yet mate, i hope he is part of the plans but rumblings suggest he is not..

3.) 20 Jul 2018 18:35:48
I hope he is too, but if the lad’s not fully committed, let’s get as much as we can for him and move on. Cheeky swap with Zaha maybe 😉.

4.) 20 Jul 2018 19:07:54
Thanks Smit, been checking here quite a lot throughout the window, little bit at ease now it seems we're finally edging towards signings!

5.) 20 Jul 2018 19:18:42
Read somewhere (echo maybe) that lookman got a knock in Austria so maybe not travelled to get him fit for league.

6.) 20 Jul 2018 19:25:16
I would be off work ill for weeks if we swapped lookman in part deal for zaha.

7.) 20 Jul 2018 19:37:37
I love the lad but if we sell him and buy Richalison I'm thinking that's an improvement for our team.

8.) 20 Jul 2018 19:46:05
The one to ask is ed002! But please beware this ed does not suffer fools. Hmm!

9.) 20 Jul 2018 18:27:30
Gutted if so, thanks for the effort mate. Keep us updated.

{Ed025's Note - i will be too joe as i see him having a very bright future mate, lets just hope its with us..

This is not football manager, not all of the transfer fee from sales goes back into our transfer pot. You've got agent fees, signing-on fees and many more things to worry about.

Seen a lot of people overreact to it

Was widely reported that he was never going to be accepted and we had to appeal, would assume the same for the other U20 player we're linked with, so hopefully the special measures thing helps us for once.

Never ever going to happen, swap deals are very rare in football and I doubt any of those players have any interest of coming to us.
