Woeful

2.) 31 Aug 2014 21:59:51
Is he really a Roberto Martinez type of centre back?
Why would Stoke City let him go?
Surely they'd want much more than £8 million for his transfer?
Why would we go for him when we have Stones? We also have Browning and Galloway coming through.
Stranger things have happened - like the signing of Eto'o - but going for Shawcross seems even more improbable imho.

I've heard rumours that Martinez has been called to a meeting with Moshiri this evening. You hear anything about this ED or is it idle Facebook and Twitter chat?

Aomeara

{Ed002's Note - Why would Mr Moshiri, an Iranian businessman, want to make his way to Liverpool from his home in Monaco to have a meeting with the manager?}

1.) 10 Apr 2016 17:59:29
Hmmm, I can think of one reason.

2.) 10 Apr 2016 17:56:12
Why not martinez going to France ed002if I was everton owner I certainly would be going out of my way to meet him a private there and back

{Ed002's Note - Why France? I assume this is all just simple nonsense from Twitter. It really strikes me as if most of the Everton fans I come across here have little or no grasp about how the game is run at club level. Nobody seems interested in transfers or what is going on, just whining and moaning. We all get it - the Everton fans don't like the board, certainly seem to despise the Chairman and the manager, can't stand most of the players, probably don't like anyone associated with the club. Trolling the posts of others and ruining them and aying it over and over is anal and embarrassing. Other clubs have no interest, but if the supporters of the other clubs are all laughing at Everton, it is because of the fans and not the club.}

3.) 10 Apr 2016 18:21:43
Technology Ed002, could be done via video conference ;-)

4.) 10 Apr 2016 18:27:35
Are u female ed002. Seams like a time of the month reply. You do have a point about all the whining and moaning. wouldn't believe we are off for a semi final in 2 weeks.

{Ed002's Note - I am indeed surprised that the euphoria is not sweeping across the Mersey and no one seems to be cock-a-hoop about the semi-final.

Oh, sorry, Everton fans - so just cock.}

5.) 10 Apr 2016 18:57:55
Just playing devil's advocate here, Ed002, but isn't it okay to want what's best for your club, so isn't moaning to be expected when things are the way they are?

Some of the moaning is very excessive though, especially with the Semi Final a couple weeks away. I've seen some ideas on here which made me want Martinez to stay on as manager forever.

6.) 10 Apr 2016 18:41:46
None of the fans are excited for the semi-final because we don't believe that we will win it with Martinez at the helm. That being said, it's too close to the semi to get anyone else in, nor would it happen even if we wanted it to. I will go to the game next week and cheer the team on, and I will go to the semi-final and cheer them on there as well. We may moan but we do support our club.

{Ed002's Note - Your first sentence contradicts your last sentence - you clearly don't support the club. Maybe the club could work on replacing the manager, the players and the fans?}

7.) 10 Apr 2016 18:42:37
Sorry ed supported this club for 50 years, my Dad attended Bill Dean's game when he scored his 60th goal and my Grandfather was at the 1906 cup final.
Sadly for me they can't contribute to this forum but I can.
The dross being produced on a daily basis by the club I love is a disgrace to the heritage of this club and as a supporter I for one won't be silenced.
Yes you can block the post but in the words of Peter Gabriel 'You can blow out a candle but you can't blow out a fire'.
ed2 I have been impressed by your knowledge of affairs which is a credit to you but you are offensive and extremely rude at times to blues who are quiet rightly horrified at events of recent times.

{Ed002's Note - I have no doubts at all that your father and your grandfather were great supporters of the club and I am sure you really do care about the club. You call, I assume the performances, a "disgrace to the heritage" of teh club. I can't see that. The players are doing what they can given they do not have the support from the fans any longer - they will be aware of that and it will impact performances. The club has new blood and investment and is heading in an upward direction - but everyone still demands the knee-jerk reaction. They expect a magical cure-all. They don't understand about the stadium. They don't care for the plans for the academy. Most just want to see money spent on players - the more the better. Does it matter who the players are? Of course not, just roll in another one of those "marquee" buys we all love. The same affliction can be seen on the Liverpool pages - year in and year out.

And those Everton supporters I know myself are all great supporters of the club and the team - regardless. Talking to one reasonably well known (and generally outspoken) supporter a few weeks ago he was behind the players and the club but really wants the club to come up with a way forward that probably doesn't include Roberto Martinez. He thinks it is time for change and for the club to move on - but he doesn't want to see Pavlovian response. You go down that route and you have no plan going forward - you simply enter a cycle of changing managers without a plan, buying players who won't fit in to any tactical set up because the manager changes repeatedly.

I am being far from offensive or rude - there is clearly a vast amount of "modern football fans" who know little or nothing of their team's heritage overrunning these sites. It has traditionally been the same on the Liverpool page - they require constant change and live in a world where spewing hate over the team and the players they supposedly support is the norm. The same is true of the new toxic fan base that Manchester United has. The Everton supporters were fine and would generally be constructive - they are no more. Now it is clear there are many who truly cannot get any sort of grasp on reality.}

8.) 10 Apr 2016 19:34:43
A very good response ed2, fair and to the point.
I respect the fact that for every ten posts that make sense you will get one or two from 'space cadets'.
To be fair to the majority who get on here, we don't want silly signings on silly money but the believe in Martinez is dead.
Our nightmare sinario is he is in place and trusted with any money next season.
I for one want stability in the club but most of all,
not being terrified at the appalling lack of coaching that our defenders and goalkeepers have recieved since RM took over resulting in shambolic defensive displays, for me the worst in living memory.
Is that too much to ask for?

{Ed002's Note - Thanks for the reply Mushy. You are being constructive - you don't want the signings made just for the sake it, but you think the time has come for the manager - I agree. And you are right, stability is cricial. A simple look at Liverpool where this summer the owners will yet again throw money at players in yet another attempt to buy the league. It really is not that simple.

I don't think that change is too much to ask and I have said on a number of occasions that the business will go through change for the better and the footballing side will be part of that change.

Sadly others don't agree - they are the screaming distorted faces at the window; the Hartlepudlian mob of folklore that hanged a monkey because of ignorance if you will.}

9.) 10 Apr 2016 19:42:08
Bar the small generalisation there Ed, that comment was spot-on.

10.) 10 Apr 2016 19:56:15
You have taken the time to respond in some depth, thankyou.
I suppose many on here (including me! ) are hitting the keys so much due to the frustration that many of us feel. Even last year I felt we were developing.
Ashes to ashes!

{Ed002's Note - I understand there is some frustration Mushy, but you are a peach in a box of vegetables as far as the other go.}

11.) 10 Apr 2016 20:08:33
. to be fair we don't need to spend a lot of money on new players - we already have a very talented squad of youth and experience. with a couple of top signings we would be good enough to be right up there with the likes of Spurs. hence the need for a new manager who is capable of turning this team into consistent winners and fulfilling its potential which our current gaffer is unable to do as he is completely out of his depth and something of a fraud!

12.) 10 Apr 2016 20:18:42
You must get many beer fuelled rants ed thanks for the response.

{Ed002's Note - Appreciate it.}

13.) 10 Apr 2016 20:20:47
I'm with Mushy all I want is change of manager. Said before would rather a £5m player at value than so called marque signings. Don't want a big turnover of managers.

Last manager I was glad to see go, in fact, the only manager I was glad to see go was Walker. Imho its in Everton's interest to let Martinez go.

I'm quite happy with everything else and have defended BK along with plenty of other associate's of Everton on here. I appreciate everything they do for the club and realise running such an enterprise is not easy. As I said I'd rather a value buy like Coleman or Jags than spending money like it's going out of fashion.

As for the stadium and other stuff similar approach to that of Arsenal is best imho. I admire all they have done under Wenger. There future is secure and they are very consistent in qualifying for champions league without going over the top on spending.

Very prudent and sensible approach imho.

14.) 10 Apr 2016 20:33:46
Good exchange that Mushy and Ed.

15.) 10 Apr 2016 21:09:04
Unfortunately ed02 you have summed up the majority of football fans of teams in top flight football for most of Europe. We all want success but some want it at any cost. I don't think Everton will replace the manager by the start of next season. A friend of mine works at the academy, he's been telling me that he along with many other members of staff (including 1st team players) believe Roberto will turn this around. I hope they are right but the similarities between us and Wigan are very concerning as we don't want to have the same outcome. Worrying times indeed for the fans at EFC but we are moving forward everywhere else except with the results of senior team. This season has been a massive disappointment but for me if we win the FA Cup the season will be a success. Realistically we had 2 trophies we could win this season, we made the last 4 of one (league cup) and are still contesting the other one (FA Cup) with only 4/ 5 teams remaining.

16.) 10 Apr 2016 21:18:33
Good little exchange between mushy and ed002. Got to admit I was of the same thought as mushy, that you were often rude and offensive at times. Never given it a thought about the posts you have to look at across all the sites, so I apologise for judging you!
Want this season over quickly so we can move on and up. For that to happen a change of manager is needed imo.

{Ed002's Note - That's no problem. I assumed that you were a Spurs fan or look like a potato.}

17.) 10 Apr 2016 23:18:05
Ha took me two mins to get it but funny!

18.) 10 Apr 2016 23:30:35
I was a fat child ed, nickname stuck!

{Ed002's Note - I am glad it stuck. Don't ever get tattoos and spoil the look.}

19.) 11 Apr 2016 14:15:47
I do understand and appreciate the sheer volume of idiotic comments that Ed02 has to put up with.

That being said, in response to what Ed02 said to myself, I think that you're being a little unfair. I don't believe that it's a contradiction that I'm not excited for the semi final but I will be going to the match to support the team.

I honestly don't believe that we will win the semi final due to the dross that I have been subjected to week in/ week out at Goodison this season. I fully remember the feeling I had coming back home on the coach after the F. A. Cup final in 2009 and I'm not looking forward to experiencing that again.

However, I've had a season ticket for 9 years now and I've been to as many games as I could (work permitting) . I'm not one of these supporters who boo's the team, and I do my best to stay positive and support the team when I go to the match. Therefore, I do resent you saying that I'm not a supporter just because I'm unhappy with Bobby's management of the club, and I'm feeling rather pessimistic at the moment.

{Ed002's Note - I am never unfair Tommy - overtly honest perhaps. The problem that I see is all of these Everton fans saying they have cancelled their season tickets or they don't care about the semi final, etc.. The semi-final is a big deal for Everton - if they get on and win it and then win the final, is that not something to celebrate? Don't you think the team deserves your support? People have become so obsessed with the manager they have lost sight of the important things. It is not good for the team who, and be absolutely clear on this, know they don't have the full support of the fans. Obviously if you don't think the team is going to win and they have been "dross" all season, then please don't go to the game and find someone who wants to go and support their team to give your ticket to. I am sure that there will be plenty of takers.}

20.) 11 Apr 2016 16:14:16
I understand where you're coming from ed02 but like I said, I do give my full support when I go to the game because the club I love deserves no less, irrespective of how I feel about the manager, players, or the chance I feel we have of winning.

I would never give up my season ticket on the basis of performances as I live in hope that things will improve one way or another.

Boycotting games isn't the answer. Neither is going to games and booing.
I think this is the major problem that we have at the moment. We are getting relatively high attendances compared to the Moyes years, but it feels like a lot of these extra 'fans' are going to the game ONLY to express displeasure at certain players and the manager. This is making the atmosphere at Goodison toxic and this has probably contributed to both the poor performances on the pitch, and ruining my experience of going to the game.

I will be at the semi-final, and to be honest, as it draws closer, I'm starting to look forward to the experience of watching my team at Wembley again, but I still don't think that we will win as it stands, maybe a couple of good performances between now and then will convince me otherwise!

{Ed002's Note - 100% behind the last paragraph Tommy. Enjoy your day in the big city. Don't talk to girls, drink too much or inhale.}

I heard Bojan on loan next season, he's out of contract at the end of that loan spell who knows?

Aomeara

1.) Imagine if we could get him to within anywhere near of his potential

2.) If anyone can it'll be Bobby. Now that would be something to look forward to if it came off.

3.) 01 May 2014 21:17:34
Yes please. Bojan at goodison would be an exciting prospect. Make it happen martinez.

Aomeara

1.) No fit striker for a few weeks yeah. But Mirallas will surely play there?

Let them have their petition, there is not enough people living in the local area to make a proper number of signatures to make a difference, the only way they get enough numbers is if Irish, Norwegian and foreign RS sign in which case it won't be taken seriously.

If the 2 million was in the contract when we got him on loan then we should pay. 2M if he has a season like last is not too bad.
