Seamus! Absolutely gutted for you mate! Horrible challenge from a nobody. Everton's right back for years to come, speedy recovery. Mason Holgate your time to shine.

Horror tackle what was he thinking when he did that, watched it a few times now and it never looks any better.

You can bet Martin O, Neil will still want to have a fitness test on Coleman for the Iceland game next week.

Just read on sky that the latest player being linked to Manc Utd is McCarthy. We'll have no players left by the time the season starts if we are to believe everything we read. Take it all with a large pinch of salt. With the exception of the loan players I can't see anyone in the 1st team squad leaving. Am assuming Barry joins us on a 2 year deal. Certainly don't want Rodwell back, too many injuries!

Very poor show yesterday. Not helped by ever changing defence. I watched the match on holiday on a Portuguese channel. The average position of Zouma and holgate was pretty much on the half way line according to the stats they showed. Would explain why we get carved open. Unfortunately Silva hasn't a clue how to set us up to keep a clean sheet. Think back three is the way forward. Get Mina fit, Jags and Keane. One holding midfielder with Siggy sat deeper. Bernard, Walcott and Richalison. Tosun up front. Still rate Tosun as our best option but needs a goal as confidence is low. In for another long season I'm afraid.

Happy with the transfer/ loans out so far. Richarlison, Digne and hopefully Bernard will be decent signings. Just slightly baffled why we still haven't signed at least one centre back. Foresee a slow start to the season.

Wasn't a fan of the football that Big Sam had us playing, but in fairness he got us to 8th. Which considering the appalling season we had, was an over achievement. He's £6m wealthier so I won't feel to sorry for him. Pleased to see Walsh depart, was very unimpressed with him, we paid over the odds for some average players presumably on his say so.

Brands sounds good, know little about him, but hoping he can bring something new to the club. As for the new manager, Silva doesn't fill me with any excitement, in my opinion a risk. Some decent names out there, just need to get the right man. Who will hopefully promote some decent attacking football, with an organised and solid defence. Otherwise I fear we will be having the same discussions in 12 months time.

Alastair, my thoughts exactly with the addition that many Clubs paid over the odds for players last two Windows and no doubt will do so this Window. Everton also suffered from the over hyped wealth of the incoming of a majority share holder. It does look like this time, Mr Moshri has had his ducks in a row for many weeks if not months. I am not versed on many foreign Managers so for me the only one I am comfortable with is Mr Benitez, the guy is knowledgeable, experienced and has won trophies, he is also still held in high esteem by that lot across the Park and realistically we cannot argue with that.

brands has wealth of contacts in south america too am looking forward to seeing who we bring in over the summer - the next neymar? the next messi? who knows.

I don't think 8th is an over achievement. I think its a place short of what BS should have secured. Especially considering between us, Burnley and Leicester, it seemed we were all trying our worst to secure 7th. No one wan6ed it it seemed until the last few games where Burnley pulled away. But they went 10 games without a win! Gave us every chance to catch em.

The void of last year we finished 7th but in a bubble a long way back from 6th and a long way clear of 8th.
That buffer is still there hence why we should be a bit disappointed not to claw 7th.

Arsenal and Chelsea both had appealing seasons and if we had been on it as we all hoped, surely they were both there for the taking? Oh well it is what it is.

Next season the league will be tougher at the top. Can't expect Chelsea to flop again. I wouldn't be surprised if Arsenal get a boost too.

I also think the bottom will be a little more competitive too. All 3 promoted clubs survived and are all financially in ok shape and have it in their hands to push on again.

Wolves look very good. Cardiff will struggle as I suspect Villa or Fulham too, I'd bet on 2 of 3 going back down.
Probably a blessing to miss Europa this summer what with all the work the club's has to do.

Well that was absolutely appalling. We aren't going to win if we don't create. Gylfi and Rooney shouldn't be on the pitch together. Martina is awful. The whole team so badly organised and so so slow. Tosun looked ok, some nice touches the only good thing to come out of today. Next up West Brom at home, should be an absolute thriller.

Or maybe Spurs are just much much better and absolutely tore you to shreds?

Absolutely delighted with the transfers so far. All of them young which is also a bonus. I was thinking back to the days of Martinez when we signed Alcaraz and Kone. Come a long way since then. I am assuming that Rom will definitely leave and presumably Barkley. So Sigurdsson or someone of that ilk, and two new forwards. Mixed emotions on Rooney, his experience would be worth its weight in gold, but not sure if he will be good enough to start for us anymore. Plus a top notch star striker. Can't wait for the season to start.

Sorry mate you are talking rubbish. Lukaku had a bad game. Doesn't take away the fact that his all round game has been far better this year and he has scored 19 goals this season. Can't slate a player for one bad game. Best forward we've had in years.

I think some fans were slating him as he looked disinterested and couldn't score earlier on in the season. Yes he was 28m, which is a lot of money, but he is still only 21 years old. I rate him and think he will end up being world class

Alastair

{Ed025's Note - my problem ally, is that he himself thinks he is world class now!, he can become that, but at the moment he is van average joe..

If we are looking for a forward to replace Lukaku (Assuming he isn't with us next season) then we need a goalscorer and have to agree with Degsy, this Ya Konan doesn't look great. My experience of African centre forwards at Everton hasn't been great thus far, plus am assuming another African nations cup next year, so Kone won't be available either.
