That's a very detailed and impressive analysis of the potential changes coming football's way. Shame about the unnecessary degradation of North West towns, with "dead pit ponies" etc. Anyway, No doubt the likes of Everton and Newcastle (if new owners are signed off) will make a last ditch attempt over the next year or two to gatecrash the elite clubs you mention (or at least those immediately below them) . At the end of the day money talks and if clubs are backed by extremely wealthy owners such as Moshiri/ Usmanov and the Saudis, then they'll be route into the elite one way or another.

{Ed002's Note - No, it is not about money - again, I suspect you don't understand.}

Not sure why anyone is talking about this? The big threat to football as we all know it is the coronavirus. When will supporters be let back into stadiums? What impact will the global economic situation have on clubs? The big clubs will obviously be able to ride this out more than the smaller clubs but I can't see how any club can continue to pay these ridiculous transfer fees or salaries if the coronavirus is with us for the long term.

Maybe that's one good thing that's come out of it because I for one am sick of the sickening amount of wages payed to footballers especially the ones who are not that good.

If it's not about money ed then what is it all about? Are they doing it for the good of football or are they doing it for the fans because I can't see the fans of football enjoying it if it comes off and i'm not saying this because Everton won't be involved in this new league it's just that I think football is about more than the top teams, football is exciting because of what it brings up each week and if what your saying is really going to happen I think it's a massif mistake.

{Ed002's Note - It is seen as a natural progression, which it is, and it allows them to take control of certain matters and rid themselves of FIFA. In England it is clear that having such a large number of professional sides cannot survive. Discussions have been going on for a number of years.}

Yes we are paying about 80M pounds a year in salaries I believe, not sustainable under the present situation with the possibility of football being played through next season with either no spectators or with half filled stadiums. Add to that sponsors and advertising companies pulling back and revenues from the sales of gear being markedly reduced the prospect for the future of football does not look too good.

So it is about money then.

{Ed002's Note - Clearly you just don't get it.}
