I personally feel everyone is being harsh about signing Iwobi.
As i see it, he was never given a real chance at Arsenal so going to be hard to make a real impression there. They are a top class team and have never shown signs of wanting him to be moved on so i see that as promising.
Iwobi deal reminds me a lot of Phil Neville. Nobody was excited by that, a decent enough player for Man Utd but nothing to be excited about, a bit underwhelming when we signed him. But when given that opportunity to step up as a regular and demonstrate the skills developed at Utd, he became a legend for us. One of my all time favourite players looking back. Sometimes a player just needs that chance!
My final point for everyone to consider before slating the deal any further; Does Iwobi make us stronger or weaker? Personally i feel he makes us a better team than we were, offers winger and forward options and is young enough to keep developing. For those reasons he is a good signing.

I agree. Really excited for the season ahead. Start with 3 points tomorrow and to see Zaha with his bottom lip out all game.

Lost our best centre back and best midfielder and haven't replaced either, is the top and bottom of it.

{Ed025's Note - i do like your optimism swan, what about our new young striker from juve, how about our new powerhouse in gbamin, or our versatile midfield dynamo delph, or iwobi who created more chances than ozil for arsenal?, or our WC winning full back?....come on mate "where is the love"..

I agree, he's very similar to Zaha, except obviously not got the same end product, but he is only 23 and is so fast and strong there is definite potential to improve. Also has got a first class attitude. I hope it works out for us, I think its better blowing double the price on Zaha who was not 100% on joining or bringing in a last minute unknown from abroard.

Oh don't get me wrong I'm happy with Kean and Gbamin, don't rate Delph or Sidibe tbh but I am glad we got Sidibe as Coleman can't continue. I'm very happy with Kean and Gbamin. But when I see people acting like we're so much stronger now. If you look at our defence and midfield from last season and now, does it really look better or worse? I think miles worse in defence and I need to see more of Gbamin before I judge him, but is he and Delph better than Gueye? I just don't see it mate.

{Ed025's Note - the new season starts tomorrow swan and i have to say in full of optimism and excitement, yes we will miss the likes of gueye and zouma but what can you do if one wants to leave and the other wont be allowed to at this time because of chelsea,s transfer ban?, we move on and we move forward because there is still a lot of talent here and i just cant wait to see what father christmas has brought us, our presents will be unwrapped at selhurst park tomorrow hopefully mate..

Come in boys, yes we lost some players, every club does, but unlike inthe past we have a chairman who has gone out and replaced them, we have signed some fantastic players, with no European football or ridiculous fees.

{Ed025's Note - absolutely nilsatis mate..

Swan its all a matter of opinions in my opinion we lost our second best centre back and second best midfielder. Not as worried as you about the situation defensively.

Gueye was a defensive midfielder who could tackle and work hard. However his passing let him down. Delph does all the above but can actually pass a ball. Their is a reason he was at Man City, the guy is a much better option.

Geuye over the years and Considering Consistancy was the best DM in the league in my opinion. It was always going to be a blow to lose him but Gbamin looks a good replacement and Delph adds experience. Not replacing the hole left by Zouma could be very problematic.

Hope so Ed, big season needed and hopefully we will have it.

{Ed025's Note - its the hope that kill you swan, but if we can start this season like we finished the last one and the new guys bed in quickly it could be a magical carpet ride mate..
