A quick question - why has it taken nearly 30 games for us to show exactly how we can play - yes there has been some glimpses at the start of the year of decent form but by in large rather poor season.

Last 5 games we have shown what we are capable off but is this down to players now relising that they are possibly playing for their spot in the team next year? . the manager has not changed in the past few weeks, same players and it seems same tactics so why the big difference now - just a thought.

None know what really goes in a dressing room.

{Ed002's Note - It is full of men taking their clothes off.}

Goodison. The adage; don't change a winning team has a lot to do with it. Also just perhaps after 30 odd games, the coach has settled on the best side and also perhaps he has stopped pandering to favourites.

Simples - Marco didn’t know the best line up and persisted in chopping and changing creating instability amongst the players and continued to play players out of position and pick players who are now lucky to make the bench.

Be interesting what a new poll would read because the last one said 37percent to sack him now 🤔.

It takes time. That is why managers need to be given more time.
Most who wanted Silva sacked after 6 months aren't prepared to give any manager time and will always call for their head after a run of bad results.
That was Watfords mistake and hopefully we will reap the benefits.
Their brief success is built on sand, ours will be solid.

It’s down to two things.

DCL not on the wing but playing up top and Walcott not on the wing, full stop.

He didn't know his best side and it was a team of players coming back from injury. So it was disrupted a lot. Then we don't know that this run will continue. In 3 weeks we might all be moaning again? But it does look like he now knows his best starting line up. DCL has also come on a lot. he started the season as a 21 year old and has matured nicely. Gomez and Bernard look 10 times fitter. Time will tell how much we have improved.

The big gripe on here was zonal marking. He stuck with it and it's paid off.
It is the way forward. If he can get the front 3 firing then we have a real chance of breaking the top 6 next season.

Smit, Watfords mistake? Final of the FA Cup. Level on points game in hand.

billscrocodiletears, I usually stick up for you and don't want to be having a go, but if you are trying to say that Watford are doing ok. well yes they are. but Silva was partly responsible for that. I would just say look at the difference in football quality that we have now compared with last season. It is like comparing Champagne with Lambrini!

Watford were 10th and still in the FA cup when they sacked Silva.
They pulled the trigger too early.
This is a team who sacked their manager at the end of the season even though he got them promoted to the prem that season. Sacked a manger for finishing 10th and getting to the semi finals of the cup. Sacked Silva when they were 10th.
You have to ask, where would Silvas Watford have had to finish in the prem to be safe from the sack.

{Ed001's Note - to be fair, they went separate ways with Jokanovic over the money he was demanding in salary to stay.}

smit666 IMO the zonal making hasn't really been tested over the last couple of matches so its still early doors on whether its fixed or not.

Thanks Ed. They are pretty trigger happy though.

{Ed001's Note - they can be ruthless, yes., but they stood by Gracia and their decision not to pay Jokanovic what he was asking has been borne out by the way he flopped with Fulham.}

Yes SA but the best form of defence is attack and we pressing and winning the ball back well at the moment.
Maybe the Burnley game might be a test as they will be relying on route 1 and set pieces.

yep I expect the zonal marking in the box will be seriously tested by Burnley. Then we may have a better idea of where we are defensively.
