With Phil Jagielka playing days seemingly at an end at this level anyway, would it not be a good plan to get him onto the coaching staff. I think there is the making of a good manager in there for the future.

I agree Keen17, get his badges then I would like him to remain in UK and do a Gerrard (not slighting) , go up to Scotland get experience and relative success for a couple of seasons, Hearts or Aberdeen maybe.

To my previous post, I should have added that Everton’s most successful periods have been with ex Everton players as manager, namely Harry Catterick and Howard Kendall. Whether it’s just coincidence or not I don’t know.

Big Joe did ok for us too, Keen. Can anyone out there shed any light as to why Peter Reid gave up on management? He always seemed to do well wherever he managed. I suppose the way he was treated a couple of times might have put him off, but it would be great for our club if we had someone with his passion, fight, experience &, most of all, knowledge and love of Everton Football Club!
