Last season we exited the f a cup at the first attempt, went out early season before.

This season out after the 4th round, now in theory a chance to get the players together and sort out any issues and work on them in extra training, instead our players get rewarded by having time off, some 7 Days with Silva debating the remaining Days free what to do.

Is it any wonder our players are not busting a gut in the cup games, if they get rewarded with a free week, sometimes in a warm weather warm up, this season, simply 7 Days off because we played a game in midweek.

If Bingham was around, he would have had them training on Southport or Ainsdale beach.

Instead we have players who have hardly bust a gut getting time off instead of trying to fix our problems.

Your right bignev they have been rewarded with a warm weather trip (nice for some)

The blokes a con man. Maybe Mr Moshri is waiting because he knows once he sacks Silva, Silva won't get a job in the Prem again, who wants to be responsible for that.

The results we have had any manager regardless of who he is must be thinking he's going to be sacked.

The City game was better and i didn't see the Watford game so can only speculate from clips and reviews but it seems that if we had a striker we would have won if not drawn that match.
Maybe a few weeks to regroup and recharge batteries could help massively.
I wanted Koeman originally but was done with him by the time he went. In hindsight i think we pulled the trigger too early on Koeman and yet we see the same traits from this squad that we did under Koeman.
Letting in goals for fun and plenty of possession and no end product.
The same towards the end of Allardyces reign too.
Maybe just maybe we need to stick with Silva and get rid of the players who obviously can't play the way Silva wants to play. Oh and buy a striker as well.

I thought Koeman was the man for us as well. Martinez Belgian Boss, Koeman, Netherlands Boss, Silva Portugese Boss?

I agree with you there Smit.

Well Smit I am going to disagree completely.
After a much better performance against why would you change the team, with the exception of Walcott, for thevWatfordi game.
Whoever said he was a talented coach must have been a relative, his man management of Lookman is appalling and I suspect quite a few others also and he is both tactically and technically wanting.
We’ll be lucky to get to mid 40 points this season and are currently in free fall.
As previously posted I sincerely hope Mr Moshiri has inserted a performance and break clause in MS’s contract otherwise we will again be paying £millions in compensation for another failure.

I did a prediction table Fancy Smith. I ran it three times and got to a maximum of 39 points.

You won’t be very far out DFS, really worrying.

I'm not sure why he changed them but we still lost against city so it's not like he changed a winning team.

Come on! are you having a laugh there? What prediction table are you running? if it's accurate you could do with patenting it and selling it to the bookies. You can buy Moshiri out with the money you make DFS.

Fancy, not sure where you have heard of his treatment of Lookman because the last I heard of Lookman a few weeks ago he was singing his praises.
And that came direct from Lookman.

Serious mate, 39 points, but I gave the win to Cardiff, we win the Cardiff game and we will get (with the hopeful boost it gives) 45 points. Fasetious comment now, so we keep Silva, get rid of all the players that cannot play Silvas system and bring in those that can, so that would mean bringing in players from Hull, Watford or maybe Olympiakos if they are young enough still. Just take time out to listen to him, it is just pure rhetoric, reminds me of some of those Uni lecturers when they had been out on the beer the night before.

I would agree DFS if we hadn't been playing brilliantly October and November. Those months were no fluke and the liverpool game along with a congested fixture list has done us in.
Most of these players aren't mentally strong enough to recover as we've seen time and again under previous managers.
In Silva I see a manager chopping and changing trying to get them back to where they were.
Yes he has made mistakes but who doesn't? He's a young manager and that is what I wanted, a young up and coming manager. Not an Allardyce, Redknapp or O Neill.

Do you think Benitez or Moyes or Howe is going to walk into this club and all of a sudden these misfits are going to break into the top 6?
No way. At least under this manager we have seen a glimpse of what he can do with a fit and firing team, something I haven't seen since Martinez 1st season.

We have sacked too many managers, so why are we only prepared to give this guy 3/ 4 of a season when Moyes, Martinez and Koeman got longer? It's complete madness calling for his head already.
Pep, Klopp and Benitez all struggled in their 1st season despite spending big money. All were backed by their clubs and all have since done well. We will never do the same if supporters give up at the first sign of tough times.

Forget predictions our average of points will put us on around 47 and that's if we don't improve.

He hasn't lasted longer than 6 months in the prem, the pattern being a good 3 or 4 month hit followed by a slump. He has now been with us 7 or 8 months and no sign of the slump recovering. Liverpool did affect the Squad but two months later, Silva has not got it out of their heads, come on! What does that say about his competence.

I agree with Smit666

I get all the reservations about Silva and I know that sacking Mourinho has been great for United but I have 2 words to say to that: Romelu Lukaku

We should hold onto Silva until the end of the season at least.

The medium-term strategy has to be to get the club some stability, which we are doing; not sacking managers every few months and not buying loads of new players only to find them surplus to requirements because we get a new manager in who doesn't want to play them.

We have to:
*get players off the books which is happening,
*see out previous manager's contracts without adding to this, also happening,
*get players in who can be decent long term which I think is true of Zouma, Gomes and Digne (not sure about Mina but he's been injured a lot so hard to say)
*give the youth a chance which is happening with Davies, Lookman, DCL and Kenny,
*avoid panic buying which is happening.
*get the team playing a more modern game which involves pressing and other things which is largely happening but.

. the bit that's clearly NOT happening is the zonal marking. However, as Kevin Ratcliffe said in a recent article, it takes a long time to get players to do this but once it clicks it works. Sure it is not the only system out there but there's no one system that always works otherwise everyone would use it. We aren't going down so the only sensible plan for the rest of the season is to get the team used to the zonal system and making it work and hopefully soon so we can get some clean sheets and start winning some games. If he clearly hasn't got the Zonal making sorted by the end of the season despite bringing in 3 defenders, then maybe.

{Ed025's Note - good post that bunnyman..
