If feel the best time to judge where Everton are is how they've performed when having played against the so called top 6 clubs, both performance wise and result.

As regards the Leicester performance, and something we will never know, is would they have come away with 3 points if Morgan had stayed on the pitch.

That depends on what your yardstick is Keen17. What I mean by that is. do you mean are we as good as top 6 clubs yet? Do you mean are we getting closer to top 6? Do you mean are we better than the rest? . all I will say is that Everton Football Club were on a slippery slope to the Championship this time last season. We could not muster a single shot on target in 4 games. We looked very fragile and players looked like rabbits with wide eyes looking at a car coming straight at them. Allardyce did what he had to do to stop the rot. This new manager has come in and made some very brave decisions. £40 mill for Richarlison. A player who had lost confidence and not scored in 30 odd games. Bernard on a free. A few others who should add quality to the first team. But most of all Tom Davies as captain at 20 years old. I cannot rate this player any higher. I believe he will be our captain for a very long time and we will add more youth with players like Holgate and Kenny and even Dowell into the 1st team squad. We will get our injured players back and strengthen further with other additions next transfer window. Then and only then will we see if we are top 6 material. If we get into the top 6 it does not matter how we play against them if we pick up max points against other teams. Our performance against Arsenal tells me we have made huge improvements overall in such a short time frame. I for one Evertonian have hope and belief again. I am (as BlueJohnUns says) . enjoying being an Evertonian. We have something to look forwards to. Yes the manager will make mistakes with tactics and other things. Everyone makes mistakes. But he has us playing with purpose. Playing with belief. Playing with some skill and some desire. Playing with youngsters. Playing as Everton should! The school of Science is on its way back!

{Ed002's Note - I would not forget that Richarlison has made it clear that Everton is simply a stopping off point to a bigger club.}

I think the good thing is Keen is that I am actually looking forward to us testing ourselves against the top 6 versus last season when I was dreading a hiding.

We might still get one but we will be giving it a go and, if we can build on the last 2 league games and grow our confidence we can compete, I honestly believe it, with the very best.

We will never know - but we will also never know if we'd have got 3 points on the two occasions this season when we've gone down to 10.

Well Ed002, let us Evertonians hope that Richarlison does indeed give us the headache of having to replace him. He is certainly a top player in my view and draws fouls consistently and yet still manages to score goals and create assists. It is much better that we as a club have that headache just as Liverpool have had that headache having to replace Coutinho and Suarez and others in recent seasons and have managed to do so. I for one do not see him using us as a stepping stone as a problem unless he starts behaving like the guy Pogba at Man Utd who has a terrible attitude from what I can see.

The problem we had the last time a player used us as a stepping stone was we relied on him so much, it hurt us massively when he left. Hopefully our squad will be built more resiliently in the future with Brands on board than it was when Lukaku left.

Keen17, not sure if Leicester had not had a man sent off would have drew or won, swings and roundabouts though due to Everton had 2 players sent off when commanding both games earlier in the season and ended up dropping points.

Thanks for pointing out the stepping stone for Richarlison Ed, happens to a lot of clubs, Suarez, Coutinho, all used smaller clubs as a stepping stone stone, before moving to Spain.

Salah will be their radar as well.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about.}

Just on that ed. If richarlison does leave for bigger club then we should make handsome profit which can be reinvested in the squad.

{Ed002's Note - With Moshiri providing £200M a window and all of he gifts of h money coming from Ivan Gazidis the massive profit will likely not be of consequence.}

would not forget that Richarlison has made it clear that Everton is simply a stopping off point to a bigger club. }.

{Ed002's Note - It is a real struggle to understand all of your references to other players bignev (if that is your real name).

What is hard to understand about references to Coutinho and Suarez joint Barcelona from a stepping stone club, could not be any clearer my posting.

Bignev is fine to use, for your reference for my user name.

{Ed002's Note - Neither player arrived with that in mind.}

Let’s not forget Suarez saw Liverpool as a stepping stone to play for Arsenal hahaha. Any player in the world find it hard to turn Barcelona or Madrid down. The lads ambitious and that’s what we want in that same interview he talks about wanting to win things at Everton that’l do for me.

12.) 08 Oct 2018
08 Oct 2018 20:10:14
The thing is Ed002, you were having a little dig at us Evertonians about him Richarlison using us as a stepping stone to a bigger club! But when we point out that there are bigger clubs all around you don't like it! I could well see Salah playing for a bigger club like Man City soon. using LFC as a stepping stone of course!

{Ed002's Note - He said it not me. Why embarrass your self with this BS? Why mention a Liverpool player again?}

13.) 08 Oct 2018
08 Oct 2018 20:19:37
Don’t think you have embarrassed yourself at all degsy all you’ve done is make a valid point that everybody else will pretty much agree with I reckon.

{Ed002's Note - Right, it is fine for an Everton player to join and say it is simply a stepping stone but not for me to tell you. Hopeless.}

14.) 08 Oct 2018
08 Oct 2018 20:35:38
He did not actually say that he was asked about Real Madrid and Barcelona. His response was something along the lines of “you have put me in a difficult situation because those clubs are a dream for any player”. He then went on to say “but I
Have just arrived at Everton and right now I am thinking about wanting to be top scorer in the premier league and win trophy’s at Everton”. The point is this would be exactly the same situation for many players. And some have been proven Suarez, bale, coutinho to name a few. I don’t think just because someone called you out on trying to have a dig (which you clearly were) they should be called embarrassing, when quite clearly your acting in an embarrassing way yourself.

{Ed002's Note - Jesus, you must be the most stupid and least knowledgable of the lot. The posts are constantly and repeatedly stupid and embarrassing - you don’t need my help. Moshiri £200M a window’ endless financial gifts from Gazidis; scratching around the internet looking for evidence that Richarlison is not looking at Everton as a stopping off point. And so it goes on and on.}

15.) 08 Oct 2018
08 Oct 2018 21:44:12
Ed002 you mention gifts from Gazidis?
What is the reference to? I thought Gazidis was at Arsenal but is leaving for Milan? Not sure what gifts we would be expecting.

{Ed002's Note - Read the posts - the Everton fans have convinced themselves he will be giving all of the money to them - as you are well aware.}

I'm confused. Do you mean Usmanov Ed002?

{Ed002's Note - Sorry Usmanov. It is all fantasy stuff.}

Gazidis? Sounded almost stupid and least knowledgeable hehe come on I had to.

Blimey Ed someone touched a nerve with pointing out Suarez and Coutinho going to a bigger club, god help us if they come sniffing for Salah.

Ok to have a dig at Richarlison as a stepping stone, not so good when the shoe is on the other foot.

Dread to think what will happen if and when Bramley Moore dock comes off.

{Ed002's Note - I still have no idea what this has to do with Liverpool? Or why you would think I would care about the likes of Liverpool players moving. I explained the ignorance of the statement - that was all. It wasn’t a dig at anyone - but certain morons just can’t accept being told the truth.}

19.) 09 Oct 2018
09 Oct 2018 08:03:00
I think it's most players ambition to play for one of the worlds Elite clubs like Real, Barcelona etc and using a so-called smaller club to get yourself noticed, if you are good enough, is an ideal way of making that dream happen. If Richy said what Ed says he did then he has to prove himself worthy, which can only be good for Everton. And if he does go as long as we replace him with similar or better I can't see it being an issue.

bloody heck boys, ed literally pointed out a factual statement and you have all gone mad at him, deluded if you think richarlsions dream is to play for efc all his life wake up.

What's so hard to grasp? The lad has intimated that he wants to play for either of the two biggest clubs in football. Most young South American players aspire to reach that level at some point in their career, it's nothing new.

{Ed002's Note - I am sure you can list many, many others who have said the club is a stepping stone and he wants to play for other sides on joining, and then kept mentioning it, even as recently as this week. There might well be one or two others, but the examples given it was not the case.}

I agree ed002, I just can't fathom why some posters find this so hard to understand. Or why some are getting angry with this being pointed out!

{Ed002's Note - Well they have calmed down now.}
