I've looked at the sending off a couple of times. In all honesty, if it had happened to us, I think we would have been baying for a free kick but a sending off - don't think so

At the end of the day it was bad control by Jags that caused it. Is it a 3 game ban? Whatever it is it makes selection for Silva a little easier next week.

I thought we coped with only having 10 men well. Keane and Holgate had good games except for Keane losing the ball/ man for the second. Rest of team did well, maybe Pickford a bit rusty and Walcott off the pace but a promising start, helped, if I'm honest, by a Wolves side who didn't really go for it

Hope injury to Richarlison isn't too bad. He looked a steal at 50m or whatever it was and look forward to seeing a few more of the new boys next week

Didn't look like a foul to me, as he wanted to play the ball and looks like he got the first touch, the other player made the most of it.
Big improvement from last season, in every way, will only get better.

Got to be honest. Look how much the lads ankle bends with Jags studs. I said yesterday it wasn't a red but having watched it back the referee got it right, how he got it right though is beyond me.

You could be right dfs if you have scrutinised it be from my one and only look it didn't for me, anyway good refereeing if he saw it.

I couldn’t even argue that yesterday, for me it was a clear foul and a straight red.

Totally out of control and wreckless lunge, studs up and caught the guy as well as the ball.

I’ve put a few of them in myself and it’s a red card every time.

I doubt he saw it. He just saw Jags lose the ball then lunge in and therefore called it a red. No way he saw anything else. And to top it off he goes over to where the player is lying then marks the free kick from there clearly not seeing the player roll three tones to get there. The ref is a melon plain and simple. Whilst it was a foul I don’t think the ref knew it at the time. Correct decision purely fluked by the ref.

To be honest it was a foul and he was the last man. Therefore by the letter of the law, it was a red. Harsh it maybe, the fact is Jags caused it by poor control.

{Ed025's Note - i know im biased pauly but no more than a yellow for me mate..

bw2412 v2.0, initially he sent him off for "denying a clear goalscoring opportunity" which is a one match ban. After the game he reviewed it, changed his mind said it was "violent conduct" which is a 3 match ban. So, if the game had ended a 0-0 draw and he had disallowed a goal in said game, if he reviews it post match, finds he was wrong, does he change the result to a 1-0 win? He had a clear view of the Jags incident, he made his mind up instantly, so why was there a need to review it post match?

It's interesting. People I've spoke with who are over the 40 say yellow card max. And the younger people all say red card. Yes his error but he can't just stop, he has to go for that tackle. He clearly went for the ball, he got the ball. I do concede the follow through on that ankle looks bad though. Either way I have a feeling that was going to be one of very very few starts anyways. No point appealing.

That explains why, at 39.9, I think it was a red. Based on the lower half of his body being off the floor and part of his foot being above his knee, it’s a red card for me irrespective of whether he got the ball or not.
