I really hope Pickford has a good world cup as he has the makings of being an exceptional keeper. The thing that concerns me is if he has a stinker, his confidence will be at rock bottom when he comes back and it will be us who will have to pay the consequences for it.

As a professional he should have enough about him to get over it, in fact he should be professional enough to not let it effect his game with us, but he is human and it will be that what gets in the way.

Saying that, if he has a good world cup he will come back buzzing and on top of his game, he will then be under a different kind of pressure and that is knowing top sides around the world will be looking to sign him, we all know this effects players in different ways.

With this being the start of the clubs rebuild I think that this could not of happened at a worse time for us, personally I would of been happier him not getting picked yet as an England fan I am happy that he has been. I do however think it a big gamble and we could potentially get stung regardless of the performances he makes.

I know what you are saying but these are the tests Pickford needs. I rhink overall it will do him well. He seems to have a good strong character also. But ye it would definately easier on the nerves knowig he is safe until the season starts.

They can sniff around all they like. He's our keeper and they can't have him!

He had a bit of a rough time a Sunderland to be fair. He must have picked the ball out of the net a hundred times but it didn't seem to phase him. He's got a good head on his shoulders.
