Hi Ed I know nothing is settled as yet regards the DOF but wondered if you could offer your insight on some aspects of the role.
The reason I ask is the press are reporting Brands is joining. They are also now reporting that Brands will want Hirving Lozano as one of his first signings and it’s also reported that Lozano is changing agent to Raiola.
So I would love to see Brands and love to sign Lozano but when you have a DOF do they just sign players and the manager to basically get on with it? As it’s likely we are changing manager in the summer wouldn’t we wait for his input?
Just wondering if you can explain a little, thanks in advance Ed.

{Ed002's Note - A Director of Football would work with the manager to bring players in, but the scouting staff will report in to the Director of Football and he would guide the negotiation process (it varies club-by-club whether they actually do the negotiation or not). There is certainly interest from elsewhere in Lozano but he was a player that Ronald Koeman was very keen on. A couple of points. If Brands were to take players immediately from PSV then his reputation will immediately go down the pan - it is totally unprofessional. Additionally, if Everton has in any way at all encouraged Lozano to move to Mino Raiola then they will be subject to action from Andres Fassi and it would likely end up in the hands of FIFA and could have very significant consequences. This isn't just unprofessional, it is in breach of FIFA regulations - so they need to be extremely careful. If there is to be a change of manager Brands would have been consulted.}

Ed. wouldn't it make sense for PSV to have some clause in there saying he cannot take any players for a period, if it is true that brands has agreed to come and PSV have agreed to let him go.

{Ed002's Note - Regardless of any "clauses" in his contract with PSV, it is not the done thing to act unprofessionally. Typically in such cases, there would be a gentleman's agreement covering such matters.}

Unless they want a more than anyone else would offer if we/ brands where to come in for any PSV players. I just hope the club as a whole get thins right this summer including the fans we need to lower our expectations in the development stages of a new manager new dof new owners good things take time to build.

Doesnt Lozano have a third-party ownership too? Or is that what you're referring to, Ed?

{Ed002's Note - Lozano is 100% owned by PSV.}
