Degsy has mentioned our time with Moyes at the helm, and raises some very valid points. He mentions that since Moyes has left we have gone backwards as a club.

We had Martinez as his replacement, who frankly was a one hit wonder, he did well in his first season with Us as he did with Wigan, he did better with Wigan as he managed home victories against Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea. His following season He only just survived relegation by beating Blackburn and then they were relegated the following season. With us He had a good first season but a not so good second one even though we went to 2 semi finals during his tenure we went downhill rapidly in season 2.

So he gets sacked and we had the same thing happen when appointing Koeman, we had a great first season with him yet a disastrous start on his second due in the main to poor transfers, regardless of who is to blame for those transfers Moshiri and Kenwright deemed him responsible and sacked him.

That leaves us onto our present manager and whilst he is in this position I will not write anything about him.

Now between them, these three managers have not taken us forward, nor have they done anything that in years to come will show them in our clubs history with a favourable light . Now would anything of been different had Man Utd not poached Moyes from us? Sadly I do not think anything would of really changed except for Martinez, I do not think he would of ever played a part in our club had Moyes stayed on. I do believe though that Moyes would of left at the same time as Martinez did, but with his reputation with ourselves intact, I think the fans would of given him a good send off.

The day Moshiri joined our club, it was on the cards that no matter who was our manager was, he would be replaced and that would of included Moyes. So does that make Moshiri our poisoned chalice? as a knee jerk reaction it would certainly look that way but when looking deeper into things the opposite would be true, he is an astute businessman and can get some very good commercial deals across the table. What most of us seem to forget about him is that his expertise is in balancing the books, this is absolutely vital for any club wanting to challenge for the top four spots on a regular basis. He apparently does have a good knowledge of the game and will want what is best for us. It has to said he has made some errors, but this is still a new venture for him and he will be passionate with his desire to get us up as real contenders.

I honestly believe with all of my heart he will get us there and then move on, he will sell us for a profit but only when we are in a strong position. That in my opinion is his motivation, and it is the same motivation that has made him a billionaire. My estimate is he will get us there by the end of 2025 and sell us in 10 years time.

That was about the sum of it. Not so much "wonderful" Moyes. more what have we achieved since? Lukaku and Barry seem a good start. but we have lost an awful lot since. including Lukaku and Barry.

Brilliant post Grumpy Degsy is right with have gone backwards since Moyes left would we have hit the heights with him at the helm we will never know.
I think Moshiri has our best interests at heart, this is the closest we've been to a new stadium just need the t's crossed and i's dotted and a spade in the ground and we will be happy.

He has made mistakes but he's only human and maybe sort out the wrong people to listen to advice from, I just hope that whatever happens next we as fans can get behind the club if Brandt comes in as DOF we support him, if we get a new manager we support him, and then we support whoever puts on the blue jersey which this season has been so hard as we haven't shown any fight.

We should have a bright future a head of us if the right decisions are made let's just get these last few games out of the way and see what Moshiri has up his sleeves.
P.s let's behind the team on Saturday they need that twelfth man more than ever at the moment let's not boo during or at half time if by the final whistle we haven't shown any fight or played it as a derby should be by all means but we are Evertonians and we are better than that.

{Ed033's Note - Degsy isn't Grumpy, surely.

Agree there mate.

Grumpy agree with all of that including Moshri, astute though he maybe, however, I think it was one of the Eds that said he (Mr Moshri) needs to take good advice and I agree with that. Of rumours lately and if true, it would seem Moshri is heeding good advice from someone.

Could you just imagine if there was 2 of me on this site.
My dreams would be fulfilled.

Thanks GB mate.

Lee and Bill I totally agree with both of you, and Bill it does look as though he is getting good advice, let's just hope it's not just the rags trying to sell headlines.

{Ed033's Note - 2 of you? Are you saying you're gender fluid?

Gender fluid, is that some kind of fancy cough medicine ED033?

{Ed033's Note - i think the way it works is, 1 of you grabs your balls and the other one coughs.

Good post Grumpy. We've not done well with our last three managers and let's hope we get the next one right.

Please don't take this the wrong way though but you said you would not write anthing about our present manager while he was with us,

The very next sentence you group him with Martinez and Koeman and criticise him.

Classic. By the way you were right to criticise him.

bw2413 To be fair to Grumpy, he says Sam is still in his position and then says the last 3 managers have not taken us forwards. That's not really an assessment of Sam. more a statement that it is too early to make any conclusions.

"nor have they done anything that in years to come will show them in our clubs history in a favourable light"

Clutching at straws a bit Degsyo?

I just thought it was funny (and true)

I wouldn't say we have gone backwards since Moyes left we have gone nowhere and incurred a lot of disruption. We were under Moyes fighting with a few clubs to become the best of the rest and we are still there. What has changed is a couple of other teams have progressed to start to challenge the so called "top four" clubs, basically its a club of six now.

14.) 06 Apr 2018
06 Apr 2018 09:53:44
BW2412 Had I omitted SA totally from this post and said those two managers (RM and RK) then I would of been critiqued for doing so. Stop dissecting posts, I have not nor will I be making any direct comment about SA within this thread.

15.) 06 Apr 2018
06 Apr 2018 10:50:52
Good reply Sa90, You are right the top 4 have now become the top 6 so to speak. I think it will only be a matter of time before it becomes the top 7. Fingers crossed it will be us.

16.) 06 Apr 2018
06 Apr 2018 17:51:10
I would agree with most of what isbeing said. except I don't think we are the best of the rest anymore. I think Leicester City are better than us at present. I also think that there are about 4 or 5 other teams challenging us now. It is very tight. but I think 10 years ago up until Martinez's 2nd season we were ahead of all these teams. In quality and in balance. Right now we have a squad of old and young and not too many at their peak. Likewise a very right sided squad.

17.) 06 Apr 2018
06 Apr 2018 18:19:43
I think Arsenal have to make some big and correct decisions if they are to stay in the top 6. Then it is up to us and Leicester to take that spot in my opinion. Burnley will probably have the distraction of Europe next season so will probably get relegated.

18.) 06 Apr 2018
06 Apr 2018 20:34:56
I can understand Leicester being thrown into the hat here but once Mahrez, Vardy and Schmeichal are out or get sold then they are no where near being a regular top 6 team. All of the current top 6 big teams have decent back up in case of injuries and what-not, I just do not see that in Leicester City.

Agree with you about Arsenal Smit, whoever they get to replace Wenger needs to hit the ground running, more so than any other newly appointed manager of other teams will. They are in real danger of losing some key players either this season or next.

{Ed001's Note - Leicester have a pot of money to invest.}

19.) 06 Apr 2018
06 Apr 2018 22:07:41
It's if the owners are prepared to spend it though Ed001, I think the next 2 seasons will show if they do as the FFP only goes back 3 years, so all the monies gained from CL will be sitting there being spent little by little. At least that's my understanding of the FFP and I may be well off the mark.

{Ed001's Note - they have been spending it so far, which is why the club was in FFP trouble from their time in the Championship.}

20.) 06 Apr 2018
06 Apr 2018 22:16:36
Plus somegood youngsters Ed001.and the comment of them not being as good when they have sold Mahrez, Vardy and Schmeichal is irrelevant. Those 3 are currently their players and may remain their players. that's one of the reasons I said they are better than us. otherwise I would have said "they might be better than us if they keep them players"?

{Ed001's Note - true. They are a side trying to build for the long term.}

21.) 07 Apr 2018
07 Apr 2018 07:34:09
From 7th down it's all pretty equal and anyone can beat anyone. I don't think one team is ahead of the other. The fact we have been awful this season and are still in contention shows no-one is ahead of us really and us ahead of them.

I don't think an overhaul is needed to put us in 7th next season and if we can get a bit of balance and confidence we can even look beyond that.
