Strange that no one has picked Rooney. He could have been great for us if he had stayed and as this is all theoretical anyway. he is probably the best player in my generation which is the last 50 odd years as a supporter. I guess its because we only saw the beginning and the endof his career.

Some great shouts from everyone there! can't understand a thumbs down for my Rooney statement though! Best player since Dixie Dean. just unfortunate we only got the tail end and beginning of his career. 5 league medals and an FA CUP. 3 League cups. A Champions League. A Europa League and a Fifa World club cup. ok all with Man Utd. but he did play for us twice now. And ask him who he really supports?

Degsy are you mad? Ball, Kendall, Royle and Angel (only joking with this one) have all been after Dixie!

To be honest though he's pretty low on my list. For me he was in a great United era and team. He also had a brief peak where he was close to the top but he never maintained it. Maybe his private affected him at important times.

I'd take Linekar over him anyday. Didn't do thumbing though.

Apostolos Vellios, Russian Billy and that Traore half man half giraffe bloke that we had on loan and played one game. I may have had a whisky or two.

I think you missed something BJU. last 20 years he said. not last 50 years lol! Rooney for me is the best above Lineker, Ball, Kendall and Royle. Although all of those were better for us. like I said Rooney at his peak was the best from the UK by a mile. Yes the Man Utd team was a great team. but just look at his trophies, his England caps, his scoring record. his length of career. Lack of injuries (due to his build) . and he is still scoring 1 in every 2 games on average now with us! When he broke into our team, we started to look like something. as did England. We were winning away games by defending and letting him score the goals. breaking records like winning away at Leeds, which we hadnt done for 20 years etc. but hey it is about opinions. I did think Kendall was an amazingly gifted player. and Ball was my childhood hero. but I don't think either were as consistant as Rooney has been. He now has 209 Premiership goals. And is still banging them in!

Loved Arteta and Cahill - but 2 more no10s is not what we need! Amazed how few people have focussed on our weaknesses haha

Give me peak Distin (Left sided CB) , peak Baines (LB) and as much as it pains me to say peak Lukaku to bang them in.
