Can someone please clarify a recent comment I have heard? Is it true (I hope not) that Sam has come out and said that Tosun will not feature for us until we are mathematically safe as he is 'struggling to cope with the British weather'? . Surely they have cold weather in Germany growing up and, for 80k a week, you'd play in Speedos.

Back to the question. the one I read said Sam said he couldn't pick him ahead of Niasse whilst Niasse was banging the goals in and creating chances. Added to which he is not at the fitness levels required for the Premier League just yet. That all makes sense to me. It just seems there is an anti Sam brigade who look at things and find negatives. Ed001 calls them toxics. We have the same about Kenwright. Probably the only lifelong fan of a club who has not named a section of the ground after himself yet invested millions of his own money.

{Ed001's Note - hang on, you mean Ed002 mate. Though I see his point about some of them, it is his term. I will never understand how any football fan can have anything but respect for Kenwright and what he has done for Everton.}

Sorry Ed001. But I agree with him on this point. I think we have some fans who would see negatives if we were top of the league and winning the Champions League every season. The toxicity is quite astounding and unbelievable. Like I often say, supporter has ameaning and definition. I think some of ours should be called slaggeroffers or as Ed002 puts it, toxics.

I think sam was alluding to the fact he wasnt giving enough in training posiibly because of the cold. Below is what he was quoted as saying about him.


‘It will be important for him to train really, really hard particularly when you are walking out and it is chucking it down with rain. ‘It is not that he is not used to it but it is freezing cold. When you are on the grass in short sleeves and shorts and a pair of boots players don’t want to stop training and don’t want to stop playing football, in fact we have to stop them and say you have done enough lads.

I don't think he's having a go at Sam but at Tosun being shy of the cold.

No mate all I was saying was that the original comment was that Kingo78 had heard that Allergy had said he won't pick Tosun until we are mathematically safe. Added to which it was because of the cold weather. He asked was this a true statement? So I responded with what I had heard which was not what had been told to Kingo. It then sort of evolved into me saying that certain elements were just anti Sam A. ie mis-reporting of comments he had allegedly made. Someone else actually told me what Sam Allergy was thinking the other day. I did question was he a mind reader? So no rant. Just a response to a question that was asked.

To answer kingos question Sam actually said in an interview with the echo.

When we are safe and moving forward we will still try and finish as high up as we can but we will have an opportunity to put him (tosun) on the pitch.

Interpret that which ever way you want. To me it tells me he isn't going to play Tosun until we are safe from relegation, others may and probably will interpret it differently.

I don't get the Tosun comment about weather either. Some days and nights in Istanbul in winter it can be 6c/ 1c, and it can certainly chuck it down. I think it is more to do with the pace and fitness required for the Premier League.

I'm not worried so much. It might be a good thing that he has time to get used to things. I saw enough to think he could be a success.

Pair of tights and gloves will sort him out. 😉.
