Want to say a big well done to Martina. He was great yesterday and even contender for MOM. Good calm delivery for the goal. Got forward and pass success rate 83%. Got close to Townsend and even the crowd was on his side. He thrived off every cheer.

What a lovely change to come on here and see positive posts. Makes for a wonderful change. I realise people do and should voice their concern about things on here but at times it can get very overwhelming.

I'm not getting carried away from yesterday. Sorry Johny1989 below I do feel you are getting a little carried away even though I voted for 7th myself. We still have a long way to go.

Still nice to have a refreshing feel to these pages. I guess expectations have been raised. The team do have ability and we will improve. Just won't happen over night. Please people have faith in your club and give them encouragement. Everyone what's and needs it form time to time.

I think we're all a little bipolar on here at times NBTB. You've got a very calm positive outlook, much more rational than me. I can be rather impulsive (wife would argue) and frustration always gets the better of me.

You get some though that don't enjoy the success. Personally I forget all the bad stuff after a win. If he goes back to a Gana and Snids mid 2 I'll be livid again but it just shows who we are as a club. We want bravery and he produced that yesterday.

When the manager is positive, making the players go out and be positive and a good result, you can't help waking up with a big fat smile of your face.

So you, Johny, Guernsey and the like keep being the other side of reason.

What this season is telling us is, we don't have to improve massively to be able to have a nibble at the likes of arsenal for top 6.
A marginal improvement in away form would have us comfortably 7th and close to 6th. I'm not getting carried away but with the horror show that has been this season, we are 11 pts off 6th and that is bridged with a few away wins.

Its a balance thing. Sam up to now has been far to negative away from home, I suspect after his comments yesterday he will attempt to find that balance between not conceding and attack for the remaining away games.

At least we are looking up the table now rather than down! I am not sure we are anywhere near Arsenal and the top 6.but maybe with the maturity of a couple of youngsters and a couple of signings we can all hope. This kid in Belgium sounds like he has the lot. Lookman will hopefully come back and go straight into the first team and DCL too. let's even hope that Walsh does indeed have an eye on one or two other youngsters and we can push on. It will make it all the more enjoyable if and when we do.

Agree with you on that one. Big Sam does worry us Blues with his comments! Yes we have to win our home games. But what about the 4 or 5 thousand that go to the away games. I just hope the team has a go now at those games. Great performance yesterday by the whole team. Nice to see the positive comments.

Yes Martina did have a good game yesterday and showed he does have a left foot, that dinked cross was superb and shows that somewhere in there the bloke does have ability. Having said that though he does go missing positional wise and did the same yesterday. Mangala is just a mistake waiting to happen and have to admit it was chalk and cheese when Williams came on and actually slotted in well with Keane. Sigurrdson and Walcott seem to have a roving brief and it works. Rooney partnering Gueye should stay, Gueye broke up the oppositions play along with the buzzing Davies. Rooney controlled the game, in my opinion that is his ideal position now. All in all a very good day.

We are 5 wins below Arsenal with only 11 games left. Not a chance in my view. I can't see Arsenal losing half their remaining games and us winning all of ours. Can you?

We are not going to catch 6th. My point is, we finished 8 pts off 6th last season and could be closer this season if we can sort our away form.
We need to be addressing why we are so poor away from home if we are to break the top 6.

Do the sums Smit666. We are 11points below Arsenal = 4 wins. We would need Arsenal to lose 4 games and us win all of ours. We have Burnley, Stoke and Watford, Huddersfield, Swansea and West Ham away. and we have only won 1 away in 12 months. we also have Liverpool, Southampton, Newcastle, Man City and Brighton at home. Firstly there is zero percent chance of us winning every one of those games. and for every point we drop in that run in means Arsenal don't have to win a game in their run in. It is just too big a gap. If you believe we are in with a chance, I will give you 100 to one odds that we do not end higher than Arsenal. And I am only being cautious because of Leicester City 2 years ago lol!

I don't think you understand what I am trying to say Degsy. We are trying to get nearer breaking the top 6 and this season we have a chance to be nearer come the end of the season. That is what I am trying to say.
I know we have no chance of catching arsenal but we have a chance of finishing 7th again and if we can finish nearer 6th than last year then it is progression.
Sometimes Degsy you need to read the post through 1st before replying. Rather than replying to what you think you've read.

No mate. I understand what you are saying. your words were to have a nibble at the likes of Arsenal for top 6. What my post says is that even if we win ALL of our games, then we will still need Arsenal to lose 4 of their 11. And if you think we have any chance of winning all of our remaining 11 when we have only won 1 away all season, then I think you are being "slightly" optimistic. I am happy we are looking just above us. but even thinking about getting near Arsenal is an impossibility.

They will probably win at least half of their remaining games if you look at their fixtures which will put them on around 60 points. Even if we win all of our remaining 11 games we will be on 67 points. that's a tall order even for Man City. never mind Everton. don't fall out with me though. looking upwards is better than down.

Read the 2nd post Degsy. We are not going to catch 6th. That is what I said to your reply. I am saying next season we need to improve our away record to get nearer arsenal, but this season we have a chance to be nearer than last season, and that would be progress. Your stats about what we will win I somewhat agree with. My post was about what we need to do next season mate.

What he's saying degsy is that we can finish closer this season to 6th than last year. Last year we were 8 points off 6th but this year could be 6 or 7 points from 6th. Still not 6th but closer.
