Watching the FA Cup game Liverpool v WBA. Time to perhaps re-evaluate Everton's performance against the two of them. After a first half in this game WBA lead 3-1 and in my opinion justifiably so. Our 1-1 with them does not in hindsight look that bad and in fact on this current score and our 2-1 defeat by Liverpool, actually made us the underdogs against WBA under Pardew's stewardship.

There are teams in the Premiership without the super creative players. but capable of holding their own. Barry was awesome and you can see how he would be good for us now. We should have kept him maybe one more season. Especially when you see McCarthy injured now. It shows how a big squad is necessary.

The Barry debate is irrelevant. Koeman reluctantly let him go as he said. Barry wanted game time and Koeman couldn't guarantee it.
All season we have been crying out for pace so would Barry have helped us? Maybe. His midfield passing is 2nd to none but his yellow card score was high.
I'm not sure he would be able to help us if he was here.

The problem with the LittlePool game was we did not have a CF, we should had one lined up on the 1st January?

I agree Smit, adding Barry now would change very little of our real problems. It’s obvious to everyone that we lack pace and Barry never had that. Time will tell if adding Tosun and Walcot will be enough to address the issue.

Again see above post about too much change. Our club has chopped and changed so much. We let our center forward go. We let our number 10 go. We let are central midfielder go. We have an injury to his partner now. We bought 2 new center backs in the last 2 seasons and a new keeper. That is the whole spine of the team changed. Yes we can say we had no choice in Lukaku and Barkley or Barry. But we should have been planning ahead. Williams can only at best have been a stop gap. We had no center forward for half the season. We bought about 4 number 10s and then had no balance to the team. The age caught up with Williams and Keane has either lost confidence or is not as good as originally thought. Add in the new keeper to the spine thing I am talking about. So yes I think having the consistancy of being able to call on Barry's experience and leadership qualities even if only for parts of games would be good. well we couldn't look much worst than we do now could we?

Degsy. Wouldn’t Barry have been useful slotting in at Left Back in Baines place or even play Jagielka at left back. Using Holgate, Williams or Keane as Centre backs.

We didn't let our no 10 or midfielder go, they wanted to. It would be unfair to Barry to keep him and not play him at his stage of career.

I think what we'll find is that towards the end of the season we will know who is up for the fight and who isn't. The ones, that aren't will be gone and a nucleus of players to build a team with.

We need consistency in the first 11 but we also need it from the manager as well.

Yes Keen17 I agree. BJU. I think you have a sort of downer on my posts. Whatever I say you seem to disagree with. That aside. We allowed Barry to go when he was under contract. No player is guaranteed 1st team action. He was happy to sign a new contract last season. so was our player. He is a real professional and I am sure would not have caused disruption as per Lukaku. And yes he could step into defence. Yes he was quite brilliant for WBA yesterday. I would have tried to keep him irrespective of his age. I think we are missing his presence. You might not agree but that's my opinion.

I totally agree with you Degsy. For Barry I wouldn't have kept him at 38 as you have got to be fair to the player. A younger player has time to fight for Barry he's got a couple of years at most. He could step into defense and he gave the best cover out of him, Gana and Snids.

For Lukaku i'm glad he's gone. Good player but him and Kev were so disruptive. Maybe the reason we don't have any team spirit is because of them.

As for the rest of your post it's spot on. 4 no 10 is stupid beyond belief and the rest of your post is great. Only disagreed with keeping Barry. 😉.
