In the past, we've lost players like Rooney, Jeffers and Rodwell to "bigger" clubs because we needed the money to survive.
With Barkley, we didn't need the money as such, but rather it's other issues that appear to have driven him from his boyhood club and from his home city. Such a pity, but the club moves on.

Other issues all of his own doing, you can have the world at your feet but if you don't have respect then the bigger more powerful fish will send you down stream or in his case down South.

I just don't see why Chelsea got him and Tottenham wanted him. Got to be in the top 3 most frustrating players ever to wear blue. He chooses not to see the early pass. He takes too many touches and gets tackled. His first touch and passing is questionable at times. Maybe fame got to him before he progressed fully. Never was going to fulfill his potential here. Chelsea is last chance saloon for him. Either he listens and works his butt off and makes it as the player we wanted him to be and us look like fools or he flops and I don't know where he goes after that.

I think he's made a very big mistake going to Chelsea, who has he got to shift out of the team to play, Hazzard, now come on you have to be bloody good or very stupid to think you will b picked in front of him, he will play in the odd game when either has injured or low key games to give hazard a rest.
