I'll be honest and say I won't be applauding Big Sam or little Sam but I will be applauding the team onto the pitch. I've made it clear what I believe. However, I won't be slating every poor performance and blaming the manager. I never want anyone who's involved in our club to fail no matter who they are.

For me though I'm sick to the back teeth of managers. It's all that's talked about now and is the constant focus since the final year of Moyes.

I'm also sick to death of fans talking about bad performances of players but never see the good on the pitch even when we win. A few on here singled out players from our 4-0 win in midweek to have a go. They're low on confidence but gave everything on Wednesday and even though some came up short maybe, you can't fault the effort.

Let's start today with a new manager, backroom team AND a new outlook on the game. There were some on here that would give their views on every player and how they thought they rated. We'd agree or disagree but they were balanced views. However, too many now focus on the negative performances.

Its time to look forward now and hopefully a move towards the top half of the table.

I’m curious as to how this will play out tbh. He’s not really had the chance to go much further than survival in the league. I don’t see us struggling in the way his reputation as a manager would indicate, especially after last Wednesday. I’m not saying we’re all ok now, but I’m more optimistic.

He’s got 18 months so let’s see if he can make the most of them. If I was him I would be moving hell and high water to shrug off the fire fighter image and see if I could be remembered for winning something instead. Let’s face it, this is the only chance he will ever get at this level. He’s kind of admitted that already.

So you’re having a go at people for being negative and asking people to support the club

But won’t applaud the manager who needs all the support he can get.

Bit stupid to be critical of anything at the moment. This is the first game of the new managerial reign so let's give them a chance and full support. Not most people's choice but that is behind us now so let's move on.

{Ed025's Note - i agree with that mike..

Did you not applaud Beardsley, Albert, Sheedy, Johnson etc then?
If they represent Everton Football Club why would you not applaud?

Swan you had a go at Rom for being our top scorer and being our top EPL scorer so hardly one to comment on negativity.

Mike I'm not being critical of the team only STUPID supporters laying into our own players after a 4 nil win.

And Wakka I did applaud them because they were worthy of being at the club.

My post is about being negative on negativity (two negatives = positive) !
