Who would everyone want our next manager to be? We look to be in real trouble right now. We are not creating any chances, and our defense will get us relegated if it continues. As much as I hate to say it, I believe our best option until the end of the season is Big Sam. He is proven to know what it takes to survive relegation battles and I believe he would sort out our defense rather quickly. It is much too risky to appoint a manager like Tuchel who has no perm experience, or Ancelotti who hasn’t had to manage a title contender in years, let alone a team in the relegation zone. We then could go in for a more attractive manager in the summer.

{Ed025's Note - a lot of supporters are saying allardyce denver....i can tell you that im not one of them, i know things are bad but now is not the time for us to appoint someone like that fat headed charletan, i cant stand the guy and we may as well all give up if its come to this, of course thats just my opinion which nobody takes any notice of anyway mate..

At this moment in time we should probably let go for Dyche has done well at Burnley probably my deserves a chance to manage a bigger club and the one for me is he has perm experience my choice would be Marco Silva but it would be hard to convince him and Dyche looks like the right appointemdnt at this time if I am being honest. The job at the moment though is a career defining one fir anyone who takes over.

To be fair Ed, we really are in the brown stuff, already 4 points adrift of 11/ 12th place. As someone else pointed out we need at least 30 points just to survive, can you or anyone else tell me how or where we are going to get those from. Sam is the very man we need right now not in January but now. He has never been relegated to my knowledge. Dyche is one for us once we have a few points on the board so he has something to work with.

{Ed025's Note - i can see what you are saying DM, unfortunately my soul is not for sale mate..

With you 025, please please not alladyce, heard before he would consider us if approached, that comment alone says it all.

{Ed025's Note - along with moyes they are my worst nightmare KK, i know things are bad but one of them would just compound things for me mate..

I agree with you about Silva and Dyche Eddy, but I don’t know if they would leave right now. Marco Silva is my first choice, but I don’t see him leaving after 3 months. I also completely understand why people wouldn’t want Sam as our manager and under normal circumstances I totally agree, but as the saying goes “desperate times call for desperate measures”. I feel the defense is most important thing to fix because I can’t see any manager getting us scoring 2 to 3 goals a game with no number 9.

Sadly I think fat Sam may be our answer, the team is in such disarray now that it will probably take 2 maybe 3 seasons to fix. It just is not the matter of appointing a couple of strikers I think the problem goes far deeper. The spirit has gone out of the team.

At the same time I do not feel that fat Sam is our answer long term but one of a short term to rebuild our foundations and get us ready to have a manager capable of moving us up.

When the boat is rocking you don't just speed off into the distance and hope for the best, instead you slow down and stabilize it, and then resume the journey.

{Ed025's Note - but when that boat is the titanic you need to proceed to the best equipped life raft you can find grumpy, an old upside down table is likely to sink very quickly mate..

Irrespective of him as a person, Allardyce has a proven record of rescuing clubs in this predicament, however could you not also consider his style similar to that of Joe Royle's 'Dogs of War'? ad maybe just what we need?

{Ed025's Note - but joe was an evertonian who knew the club very well wakka, sam is a mercenary who wont lose any sleep if he fails as long as his wallet can break his fall mate..

Ed25, if big Sam, Moyes or redknapp came near our club, I don't think I could step foot in goodison ever again. regardless if they kept us in prem or not. I'd be done with footy in all honesty.

{Ed025's Note - i think i would not be far behind you mate..

Agree with you there Wakka Big Sam would get us out the mire, but my choice would be Ancelotti for the job, i would be happy mate with anyone who could get us out of this mess and boy are we in a serious spot at the mo.

Ed, it's just dawned on me how sad and desperate it is. even contemplating this. if only we could bottle this feeling and serve it to the players. just gutting.

{Ed025's Note - we have been bottling it all season mate..

Mad this talking about alladyce as manager, only a few months ago we nearly signed costa, have we fallen that much in 3 months? If its devil or deep blue sea i'd go for pulis if am honest .

The thing is yes Sam/ dyche shoes will sure up the ship but next season would you trust them to spend and make the step up to challenging for Europe/ cups etc? I think you're in a predicament as getting one for those managers and them finishing mid table would probably warrant a fair crack next season but expectations etc will increase and they aren't the managers to do achieve that. But would an ancelottti or more exciting manager take the role at the minute?

KingKendall When did we nearly sign Costa?

@ Ed025 There's a difference mate between a sinking ship and a rocking one. Still not hit the iceberg yet, we can still turn and avoid it. ( I bet some idiot gives this a thumbs down )

{Ed025's Note - they probably will mate.. :)

Ed025 sadly they are just like players these days and will jump ship for a better deal, if anyone thought Koeman was here long haul you are sadly mistaken.
Big Joe is past history for us and a managers allegiance to a club does not cut the ice these days it’s all sink or swim I’m afraid!
I fully understand your reservations however.

{Ed025's Note - i just think it sends out the wrong message wakka that everton after 10 games see themselves as relegation candidates, there could be a bit of truth in it but you never show your hand in a game of poker or football mate..

Reported latter part of the summer by most news outlets, gossip columns and even vlasic has stated the number 19 shirt was reserved for costa.
