In my opinion, this saga with Sigurdsson is about possible "sell on" values! There isn't going to be much if any sell on with him. if we do actually sign him. Everton need to understand the working of Transfer Market today, at 27 Gylfi is in his prime and is a player for NOW, not so much the future, although I would expect him to still be thriving 3 years from now. United have just paid £40m for Matic from Chelsea and he is 29 nearly 30?If we want these class players, then we are going to have to pay big bucks otherwise we will only ever be seen as a "nearly team". Koeman is capable of building dynasty similar to what happened at Ajax. but only if the Club backs him and his ideas. completely! Based on what I have seen in the 2 UEFA Ties and the friendlies pre-season, if we don't get a top striker/ target man and Gylfi in very quickly, then we are going to be in a spot of bother quite early on based on the first 6 fixtures we have. We need reults against these so called top sides or we will be playing catch up from the off. I think Everton are waiting on Gylfi "rocking the boat" at Swansea to get the move . hope so? Get it done Blues.

Sensible post. Voiced a lot of what some of us have posted and have been thinking. Hopefully Everton negotiations with various parties are like an iceberg but one away from the shipping lanes.

Personally I think it's nothing to do with sell on clauses I think there are clauses with if he gets us champions league.

I don't understand this. I think 99% of us think we are in a better position now than last year regarding the squad. So why would we be in a spot of bother? What does "spot of bother" mean? Relagation? 7th? 10th? I don't know haha.
I can't see anyone who finished below us last year catching up, ancan only see us getting closer to the top 6.
