Any ideas of CB we will sign as I can't stand Williams and funes Mori at all.

Both are better defenders than Stones imho. Think we could do worse than having them, and if we can get a top class, vocal keeper behind them that can organise then I think they'll be even better. Williams has been one of the most consistent CBs in the perm for years.

I don't understand the posts on here knocking Williams at all? Last season we had one of the worst defences. We leaked goals like a sieve with big holes! This season we have won loads of games that we should not have. Mainly due to resolute defending. The only differences have been Holgate and Williams. Jags and Mori are the same. With respect to Holgate, he has not made the huge difference, but Williams has. Yes he is slow. Yes he is not the worlds greatest defender. But he has organised us throughout games to the point of seeing out games that last season we would have lost. He is a born organiser. We have conceded only 37 league goals with 4 games to go. Last season we conceded 55. When you consider we lost Coleman a few games ago, I think it is an achievement we are still grinding out results. Williams may not be the best, but he is better than what we were last season.

{Ed001's Note - isn't the main difference the manager rather than the players?}

I am not sure Koeman can get his boots on any more Ed? Although he picks and signs the players. the point Sophefc was making was that she cannot stand Williams and Mori. I was responding to that comment specifically. Williams is themain reason we are conceding less goals. Yes Koeman signed and picks him, but Williams is the one different defender to last season and we have improved dramatically in such a short time span. I do acknowledge that Williams is not thelong term answer. But would point out Swansea's decline since he left themand our improvement since he joined us.

{Ed001's Note - nothing like what I meant. It is clearly nothing to do with Williams, who has been terrible on numerous occasions for you. It is all about Koeman's tactics, which have been shown to be solid at Southampton and prior to that too. Koeman ensures the team is well drilled and the midfield protect the back line well, most of the time, so even off games for Williams (or whoever is there) very rarely costs you much in the way of points.}

Rk is the main reason our defence is tighter. Williams been good but not be all and end all.

I am willing to support manager over the summer and will get behind whoever he signs come September 1st and I do believe we will make further progress next season as his ideas and beliefs bed in even more.
