Imho Pulis teams always punch above their weight. No disrespect to West Brom. The are a well organised thrilled team who can grind out results. They are doing very well. No doubt we are on the up.

Last game was a blip and it amazes me when we win and get a good or even a fantastic result very few bother to post here saying positive things. Yet when we lose to a team who have been competing at the very top for the last number if years there is loads of posts of people writing players off. Criticising Koeman, wanting to get rid of a number of players because they had one bad game.

I'm the opposite. When we have what I call a blip I hold back from criticising. When we win I love it. Love coming on here to see positive this being said. Just a putty there is not more.

I'm just talking in general obviously. People are entitled to their opinion of course. I guess its a habit when we have had a barren spell for so long. Its hard to sink in at times that we are actually making real progress. Proper steps to bring the club forward and competing with the elite again.

Not there yet but I for one am certainly enjoying the prospect of what the future holds. Onwards and upwards. Good win today. The ship is truly very steady and ready to sail into the good times. Let's all enjoy the ride. There will be a few pumps along the way but the journey will be epic. I can feel it in my bones.

Hi NBTB my sentiments exactly mate, we are a great club and have been in the doldrums for far too long, i think the team on the whole played really well today and one of the team I would single out for special praise was Jags not once did any of the West Brom team get in behind him, a real solid perforformance also Ross was very good, we are now playing well under R K and yes there will be blips along the way but the signs are good, at last all of us Evertonians have something wonderful happening at Goodison welcome to the ride cheers mate GuernseyBlue.

I am rapt we played so well, but let's be honest WBA were woeful. I still think Barry is handy, but not when we are playing teams who dominate us with possession. Last week perfect example was terrible. Now with Baines injured, surely we are not going to play Funes Mori at Left Back. Btw while m on here, where are all the Barkley clowns. Where are all the boo boys and all those who slagged him and wanted to get rid of him. Where are you all now. The boy has made you all look like fools. Aussie Toffee never doubted him.

{Ed025's Note - i cant believe pulis aussie, he said they were always in the game? but for me we absolutely battered them, on the ross thing he has really come of age these last couple of months ronnie has worked wonders with him, he needed that kick up the arse he got from him and im made up for the lad and hope he can break into that england squad again as he really deserves it mate..

Is that directed at me NBTB? I never said they would catch us? I said it was a 6 pointer. and we got the gap that allows us a slip up. but not too many.

Good posts guys. Great win and clean sheet, it is inevitable that we are going to lose games this season and the spurs game we deserved to lose, the game we lost before that against the reds we deserved a draw but all in all a very good run of games.

I said it before if we had managed 2 or 3 wins out of that bad run of 10 or so games we would be in the mix for top 4 spot. If we finish 7th 6th or 5th this season it will be an amazing turnaround considering the last 2 seasons and the state of the team Koeman was given.

I agree Funes Mori isn't the answer to covering Baines while injured but to be fair to the guy I didn't think he did much wrong when he came on and I wasn't having a heart attack whenever they attacked down that side unlike when he's at centre back.

Yes Degsy, its directed at you seeing I said Degsy. A week or so ago you were very concerned that they might catch us. Simply asking, what you think the chances are now?

We can't afford to slip up surely. Imho Koeman won't allow it to happen. There probably will be small blips here and there but no major slip up's I'd imagine. We have some fought games with the top teams coming up. But with every game Koeman is improving things. Not be long until we will truly be competing with them all.

Maybe NBTB. As in competing with the top soon. I don't thing West Brom have got the team to catch us though. 7 points with only 10 games left is probably too much. Plus our goal difference is far superior. So they need to win 3 more games than us and looking at our run in, we should win a few. But I would have been concerned if we had lost to them. I was actually very surprised at how easy they rolled over. Plus I was really surprised with the team selection. But the manager knows who is in form in training and we all are so easy at writing players off. In the last 12 months I have heard the following players being in quotes on this very web-page as being past it and/ or no longer good enough: Barry, Jags, Baines, Coleman, Mirallas, Barkley and Osman. (sorry couldn't resist that last one) . but as you know, all 6 featured yesterday. 3 of them were favourites for man of the match too. shows what we supporters know.

This is new ground to us all NBTB we are all used to us having good runs only to throw it all away, and I think that's what Degsy was hinting at. ( Although I may be wrong) The proof is in the pudding, we now have the same number of points that we finished with last season, so now is the time for RK to really do his job.

This is the first time in many a season that we actually have something to fight for at this time of the year. In the poll at the beginning of the season I put us down for a 10th place finish ( or 11th not really 100% sure ) and I have to say I am so happy that I will be wrong on this one. let's just enjoy this trip into new territory and remember that next season will be better again.

Imho Grumpy we have thrown nothing away. Smit666 makes good points above. We were unlucky not to get a draw against the Reds. Lost to Spuds who are second with joint best defense record in the premiership. All that since mid December when we beat Arsenal. Since then there isn't much if anything to give out about. We have had a fantastic run since mid December.

The point I'm making Grumpy is throwing things away is in the past. I have every faith in finishing strong for the rest of the season. Not sure where I said in the poll at the beginning of the season exactly but it was definitely between 6th, 7th and 8th.

Players are not past it. Getting back up or replacements for players who are reaching the end of their careers is not the same as saying they are past it or not good enough. Those six players you Degsy are not near finished. 5 of them I have never said get rid. Mirallas I have hinted to maybe sell if £15m - £20m is offered.

He's a winger, very close to 30 and let's face it is not having a tremendous season by any manner or means. Good player who was destroyed by Martinez who may never recover because he's not getting picked every game under Koeman either.

I knew exactly what Degsy meant a couple of weeks ago Grumpy when he was worried West Brom would catch us. At the time I said not a chance. Now the chances are even lower. If I remember correctly at the time I said there is more of a chance we'd climb the table positions than West Brom over taking us.

Now there is less chance of West Brom over taking us. Also looks like less of a chance we will climb the table either. 7th would be a big improvement for Koemans first year. We might with a bit of luck get higher. Can't see us go any lower. Time will tell I guess.

Totally agree Grumpy next season will be much better. Koeman won't need time to assess things and will be concentrating solely on improving the team and squad.

Hi NBTB good post mate, a few good signings in the summer and we will be in good shape, GuernseyBlue.

Need Barkley and Lukaku to sign the new contracts. Sign another couple of youngsters of the quality of Lookman and Calvert-Lewin. have another couple come through the youth system into 1st team regulars and a couple of experienced signings and then maybe break into really challenging for the top 4. Even a trophy or 2. Something that I never ever thought could happen 8 months ago.
