Bit disappointed about Gerry leaving even if it is on loan. A player with great potential that definitely wanted to play for us. If this is the billionaire overhaul taking effect then I suppose we have to swallow it. Who am I to argue with Ronald Koeman? I think he seems happy to alternate Kev and Azza at the moment. With Depay gone (happy about that) are we going to try to fill the gap do you think Ed? The gaffer said he won't settle for plan b targets after all.

{Ed025's Note - he knows the caibre of player he wants matt and that suits me just fine mate..

He has only gone on loan. It's really up to him now to convince RK that he has what it takes.

Rk is passionate and a born winner. He wants to take everton to the elite and knows who he can or can't take with him. Let's all trust in him to build a team to achieve this.

Mirallas is a much better player in my view. But like you say the manager lives and dies by his decisions.

Gerry's attitude is just not right and he feels he should be the starman because he came through at Barca.
His attitude was questioned at Sevilla, he was allowed to leave Barcelona and now RK has had enough. Surely it is a problem with him as a person not as a player, although his fitness is woeful.
I don't believe we will see him in a blue shirt again and I for one won't really miss him.

Gerri has had two different managers at our club, he has played under another one at Sevilla and another at Barca, albeit in the second string. Everyone of them, bar RM, have let the lad go. The only one that had any faith in him was Roberto but we all know how over enthusiastic that man could be, even with the most average players. Everything was 'phenomenal' no matter how bad.
Emery questioned the lads desire and attitude. Whoever ran the Barcelona second team wasn't bothered about selling him. To be fair, he had a few world class players to usurp in the first team and, on current form, he is a million miles away from joining that bracket. RK gave him a chance at the start of this season but he rarely features now.
Gerri may have talent, we can all testify to that, but he is stagnating now. His fitness levels leave a lot to be desired at this level and he has a petulant streak when things don't seem to go in his favour. His reluctance to track back hasn't exactly endeared him to RK. In fact, I don't think he has done too much for us since he signed permanently, his better games came in his first spell. I wouldn't be too bothered if he was sacrificed to free up a squad place and wages, he just isn't doing enough consistently to warrant selection for the first team.

{Ed025's Note - spot on that spud mate..

Cheers ed. I hope he goes on to prove the doubters, including myself, wrong. Not many are good enough to come through the Barcelona academy so he clearly has the ability, he just doesn't channel it in the correct way. Looking at his record for Spain U21's is a double edged sword. On one hand he is the record holder for both appearances and goals, no mean feat when you consider some of the Spanish talent that has come through in the last twenty or thirty years. These stats, however impressive, mask over the fact that he has not pushed on and forced his way into the senior squad. Maybe, looking at that, this is where his problems lie. He is exceptional in the lower age groups but doesn't transfer that when up against senior pro's. He needs to up his game but only minutes on the pitch will show us if he can do it so a loan move makes sense for all involved. I'd rather he be loaned to an English club, either prem or championship, to gauge whether he will ever make it in our country.

{Ed025's Note - it cant have been easy for him though spud, coming to a new country with a different culture and leaving his family and friends, but im afraid thats the life of a professional footballer and as we all know the rewards are massive, but its about adapting and fitting in and im afraid gerri has just not cut the mustard mate, but as you say there is still time for him but he needs to adapt a lot better mate..

Totally agree ed, he's still relatively a young lad and has time on his side to hit the heights that have been expected of him. But the penny has to drop some time soon and he needs to knuckle down and improve his game, he is not the finished article as yet but his attitude needs to reflect that. Judging him on his loan spell, he had some great games and showed us flashes of his skill and talent. He needs to get back to that level.
It just goes to show that talent isn't everything in the football world, a strong mentality is also necessary to make it at the top. Let's hope he can produce more as a team player, even better if he does that for us.

{Ed025's Note - amen to that spud mate..
