How many fans are so desperate for January signings that they'd accept anyone rather than wait until the Summer to get our preferred targets?
Also, we may have money now to pay big fees and big wages - subject to the financial regulations - but we don't offer Champions League (let alone Europa League) football AND we haven't been genuine trophy challengers for the past couple of decades.
We can be (we must be! ) ambitious, but the Everton "project" won't be quickly achieved and there are plenty of other clubs competing for success - whatever that might be.

The problem is we need signings in jan to try and stay in touch with the europe spots. Otherwise we will end up mid table and come summer will be just as difficult to sign.

If we sign a few in jan and finish the season close to top 6 then it might prove a little easier to recruit in the summer. But i don't know the ins and outs of the transfer issues and my opinion may be well off the mark.

That's true Anom but if the signings are no addition they won't help us finish higher. So what's the point.

Imho always and I mean always hold out for players to improve things. Never sign for the sake of it.

I know very little about signing players and I can even see it is extremely hard to get ones that will improve the team or first 15 or so.

That's why I don't moan or give out when we don't sign too many players.

Well said Sid. While we have a chance it's important we try for trophies and Europe but realistically we are building for next season or more likely thd season after. No need for panic buys. Just the right players.

Any signing has got to be one of RK/ SW preferred targets otherwise its just a waste of money. Any player will need time to bed in especially if they are not already PL players. If we can't get the players wanted I would settle for a couple of loan signings their are plenty of good quality players in the top teams getting splinters and in some cases not even putting their kit on, that could do a job helping us maintain our challenge for a Europa place for this season.

If we don't sign anyone this January where do you think we will finish? because the current team are only going to take us into the bott half (I hope not) I hope they turn it around for us.

With Liverpool seemingly ahead of us for the Southampton lad it surely is extremely more important than ever that our games between now and the window opening return the best points tally and ergo the best league position possible. Anything else and we will move ever further down the transfer attraction stakes.

its a catch 22, we need signings but the right ones and we all know January is not the best time, what has caused the issue is we have probably kept and not replaced aging players as there form dipped over the last few years.

{Ed025's Note - i agree wakka, maybe now we have money things will change..lets hope so anyway mate..
