Further to my earlier post about the two aged-over-21 players not going to the Austria training camp, I see from the official club website that McAleny is actually going to the U21 training camp in Spain. No mention of the other aged-over-21 player - Rodriguez - in either training squad. Don't know where that leaves his future with the club.
Alongside McAleny, the U21 training squad has 20 other young players. Among those are Charsley, Dyson, Gray, Griffiths and Robinson, which must mean they've taken up the renewed contracts that were offered according to the recent retained/ released lists. As Grant is at the Austria training camp, he too must have taken up the renewal offer. That just leaves Tyrone Duffus as one who was offered renewed professional terms, but isn't included in either training squad.
Not sure why Henen, Holgate or Williams (and a few others) aren't in the U21 training squad - although Williams is coming back from serious injury. Maybe there'll be quite a few U21 players sent out on long-term loan this coming season.
By the way, our two recent U21 signings - Sambou and Renshaw - are in the U21 training squad.
Connolly, Kenny and Ledson are going to be with with the England U19 squad, so that's why they're omitted.
It'll be interesting to see which players are moved on (permanently or on loan) - and who comes in during the transfer window.

Kenyan_Toffee: thanks for the info. My original post was based on the Echo website, which listed just 23 players, while the official club website hadn't yet listed the players going to Austria.
Of the 23 players named by the Echo, two (Browning - who's been injured - and Walsh - who's with the U21 training squad in Spain) are omitted from the club's list for Austria, while four others (Henen, Holgate, Jones G. and Rodriguez) are included in the list of 25 names given on the club website.
I hope I've got it right this time ;-)
