I must admit to being a little concerned if Koeman is to be our new manager. There's no disputing that he has done well at Southampton, but as it was generally assumed that they would be close to the bottom of the table, he has been in managerial terms under very little pressure, so anything he did achieve could be seen as a bonus. Whereas if he were to join us on the massive salary that is being quoted, along with a substantial war chest, then the pressure to achieve would be immense, as I feel with that expenditure it would be justified to expect a genuine challenge for the top four.
We have some cracking players in the under 21's and I hope that they are not overlooked in an attempt to buy success or a quick fix. I know he did blood some youngsters at Southampton, but was that out of necessity rather than choice?
Another concern is that he tends to jump ship after a couple of years. This is something we really don't need. General consensus of opinion is that he was using Southampton until something better came along ( the managerial equivalent of Lukaku! ) Would he do the same if Arsenal or Barcelona come knocking in 12 months time?
I'm usually a " glass half full " type of person, so my concerns are a little out of character. Perhaps like everyone else I just want the club to get this one right.
If he is appointed I will of course support him 100%, as I have every other manager we have had ( yes, that includes Gordon Lee, Mike walker and Walter Smith ) . I was going to include he who shall never be mentioned on these pages again, but thought better of it.
Let's enjoy the coming season blues, as this could be the start of something average ( only joking! ) .

Good post Shropshire but I reckon for Barcelona to come knocking next season it will probably mean we've had the best season of our lives.

I would have no concerns of Koeman taking us over. Without a shadow of a doubt is the best man for the job. The reason he left Ajax and may leave Southampton is every time he was building really good squads them clubs kept selling his best players. I for one agree Koeman is correct to leave these clubs as they show no ambition. If Everton with Mr Farhad show the ambition to improve year on year then Mr Koeman will show his class and may show loyalty to be with us long term. Best manager we could have since the first coming of the great Howard Kendall. Let's just get behind him and the players and we might get the same success. PS if our supporters want one of our own Ross Barkley to leave then keep getting on his back for every mistake he makes, I for one find this disgusting behavior by some of our fans. The lad never shied away from trying to get on the ball to make things happen and for me I commend the lad playing with the pressure of some of the crowd giving him a hard time no wonder the lads form dipped. Support Ross and you will sees different player class is permanent and Koeman will improve him as he has done for a lot of players. COYB.
