The biggest issue surrounding the performance culture of the team, and why the fans are now on RM's back is the setting if standards. While it is supportive, not acknowledging when we have simply been not good enough and always to looking to outside factors to blame simply tells the team that nothing needs to change, and whatever you did today (which was not good enough to win) is in fact good enough. So as a player, why would I change what I am doing, the boss is happy, why would we rally, it is just luck going against us. Take away all the selection issues, tactics etc etc, the players on the field are better than their league position and performances, but only when they are matching the intensity of their competition, and as fans I don't think we have aren't that. What worries me the most is that all the solutions RM keeps referring to are based on fortune and outside factors, which in any business is a scary sign. In any business strategy I have ever seen, it never says, "keep doing what you're doing and hope for some luck"

{Ed025's Note - thats why he is a fraud bra boy, talks a really good game but cant get the players to produce..

Martinez won successive relegation battles as manager with Wigan Athletic in 2010, 2011 and 2012 before they went down in 2013, days after winning the FA Cup.

"Yes, yes, but I've been down with 36 points and it's very tough to get 36 points in this league, " Martinez said. He was also asked if he thought his style was too pass heavy which slowed us down, his reply was never you can never have to much passing. The point of this is, knowing those stats why the heck did Bill Kenwright hire the man. Those stats indicate that last season was a blip and this season is the norm under Martinez leadership. The bloke even acknowledges he is used to it for gods sake. Bill Kenwright will never be forgiven as the man who hired the man responsible for taking this great club down in over 60 years should it happen. And even if we do not go down Bill has to get rid, because from the stats above we are in for this every season.

Great post DM. It would seem that 36pts is 'tough' this season and that in itself tells us everything we need to know. He makes it sound like reaching this magic number is an achievement. Which it is if done before Xmas.

DM. Agreed. He has managed to build a myth around his management for the last 5 years where survival meant success! Again, a sub-standard level of success to aim for. When momentum is positive, he took the credit and obviously the players were riding the high of having a new manager with a more expressive style. Maybe they felt a bit unshackled. But this season was his and his alone. Only he could build the momentum from his planning, his training, his culture. And you can see the results. It just scares me to think that he is genuinely happy with th performances, and worse, if he doesn't actually think that, then he is just saying it because he thinks that's what we want to hear.

BTW Ed, I am not sure he does talk a great game. If he did, we wouldn't be giving him the lashing we currently are, because we'd be eating up all the spin he comes out with.

It would be great to know if anyone out there is a supporter and does buy into what he is saying?
