Now Baines legs are going do you all think next season could be the time to move him into cdm to replace Barry if a deal can't be reached?

Nothing wrong with Baines legs only 29 or 30 still top class left back.

As dero says - legs show no signs of going at all! We play a different way now so not every attack goes through him that's all. But your right we may see him in the middle of the park at some point to accommodate Bryan O.

Legs aren't even close to going yet although baines may play in midfield to give Oviedo/Garbutt game time

4.) 11 Jun 2014
They have only gone to Brazil and as far as I can make out will be coming back with the rest of his body, ready for the new season.

5.) 12 Jun 2014
I myself would love to see how baines would fair at cm. I think he would be great

The general feeling inside the club is that his legs are not what they used to be 2 seasons ago, he doesn't bomb forward as much and it's starting to show. I'm not stating this as a fact it's just what I've heard from a pretty reputable source

7.) 12 Jun 2014
Maybe Baines is more intelligent now and instead constantly bombing forward sometimes leaving the defence exposed it might be he just picks his moments better.

To be honest Lew, there is no substance to this. The way we now play under RM doesn't rely too much on Baines bombing up and down, we now have other creative outlets in the squad. Baines is fit as a fiddle, how many games has he missed in the last few years to injury? If his legs had gone then he wouldn't currently be in Brazil as the first choice left back. The lad is 29 not 39, plenty of mileage left in his legs I believe

Okay some fair points there Spud but for me are wingbacks are pivotal to how we play.

Last season if you compare Baines's level of performance in terms of flying up/down the wings to Colemans I feel its Seumus who comes out on top.

Even his crossing and set pieces lacked the power and whip that he used to generate a couple of seasons ago, also if Oviedo can come back strong and pick up where he left off then he's got to be playing otherwise he may look to move on same goes for Garbutt who has shown great potential.

I said his legs where going not gone so of course he's going to be England's no1 for this tournament, Hodgson knows this will be his first and probably last tournament as first choice lb so he's hardly going to deprive him of that is he.

Sorry for waffling on haha

Baines will continue at left back next season, and I feel when oviedo comes back from injury he may replace pienaar at left wing
