Gday Guys, what a performance by the Toffees yesterday. Does it look like we are playing with more flair because even when we went 1 up, normally with Moyes we would have sat back and tried to defend for the rest of the game but yesterday we tried to score a second even though Chelsea hammered our goals. I thought we defended brilliantly, however Jelavic as hard as he tried he struggled badly, but he did set up Naismith so that was good. His confidence is shot. What we need is to continue with what we have and beat the Hammers next start.

I thought after the goal we looked the team more likely to score, their defenders stayed on the backfoot because of the way we were breaking on them.
Noticeable how we left Mirallas up top when defending set pieces and he really put a shift in.
I thought the defence did well particularly after Howard's moment they recovered their composure.

I am not ready to eat humble pie just yet vis a vie opinion of Martinez. Barry was tremendous, his timing and distribution was spot on (hope this does not drive his value up). If we get the same out of Lukaku and McArthy, I will be well made up. What Martinez saw yesterday was the lads taking a bit of his philosophy and marrying it with Everton grit, I hope he encourages it from now on, on the practice ground. {Ed025's Note - barry is out of contract at the end of this season mudmud, so no fee will be involved..
