Great win yesterday, still unbeaten and three clean sheets to boot. Fantastic.

I always feared that once Barkley started to get game time the media would start their usual process of telling the world he's available for an undervalue fee. If Everton are serious about competing at the top of the league and are not just content to make up the numbers they need to invest in the future and Barkley is the future of Everton.

They need to rip up his current contract and give him a long term contract on 50-60K a week, I reckon that would be about 150% pay rise. We then put a minimum 60 million buy-out clause in his contract. Why not? they do it on the continent all the time. If not were going to have the same crap being printed every time Barkley has a good game, and let's face it, he's only human and eventually he'll have his head turned. We need to stop it now. {Ed025's Note - im with you marty..

Totally agree mate and the same with Baines too. We need to warn these so called bigger clubs off our best players and show the prem league so called top 4 our intentions. We have been a sleeping giant its time to wake up and show the world we are back and mean business.

Totally agree, sign the lad into a long term contract that shows him how much we value him, with a silly buy out clause is the way to go if we want to move forward.

But we have to remember that doing so and the same with Leighton Baines while perhaps putting money to one side in order to keep Barry is going to mean there is a lot less available to spend come January.

Personally I am all for protecting what we have and building from within but I am sure a lot of people will disagree and start hammering BK and Robbie if we don't buy a load of new faces next window. Fact is though we can not have it both ways.
