That game sums up what we knew, most of these players are not good enough, Davis Sigurdsson, Iwobi.
We need quality to go with the players that will gel some of these other players Gomez needs a player like Guye alongside home and a Coutinho or Rodriguez to get best out of Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin.

To be honest, there are more than those 3 who are not good enough, we don't even have anyone out injured who could come in and make an impact. on a lighter note, Gordon looks to have a bright future, he should definitly start the next game.

I thought Davies played well but what am I saying I forgot most blues can't wait to get on the 22 year olds back because he's a local lad and we all know how Everton fans love to crucify a local player God help Gorden when Davies finally has enough and leaves only to be called a traitor and snake by the same fans who crucify him.

Gordon was the only shining light in a terrible performance.

Spurs were rubbish and there for the taking.

Very disappointing after our last 3 results - probably the slim chance of Europe now gone.

Some rebuilding to do in the next month or so.

I don’t get Sigurdsson - he offers nothing - I’m assuming the continual selection of him is to get him in the shop window so to speak but if anyone watched him they’ll be asking us to pay them to take him off our hands.
Iwobi also poor, seems to shy away.
Gomes also had a stinker - always appeared to want to play it backwards.

Davies being a local lad has nothing to do with the fact that he is not good enough. He did not have a good game and is clearly not good enough for a team aspiring to be trophy winners.
That game last night was there for the taking, against a Spurs side low on confidence and morale. But we have a team with zero creativity in the midfield, and I’m not just talking about Davies. Iwobi is clueless, I really cannot see how the guy became a prem player, offers nothing. Gomes since his injury is slow and can’t make a forward pass. Sigurdsson is a coward who clearly has not got what it takes to play in midfield. Bernard too lightweight for the prem. Delph bloody pointless.
That gents is our midfield, and that is why we are boring to watch and have no creativity, and why DCL and Richy spend all night running around for nothing.
We need at least two midfielders and a right winger or another striker.
Without them we are f****d.

I agree Woburn, Tom Davies has 100 appearance's for Everton now, there is no agenda to get on his back more just because he is an Everton fan, it because its clear he is not good enough for the level we're currently at, nevermind the level we aspire to be at, he gives away silly free kicks regularly, his lack of pace off the mark plays into that, also if he doesn't receive the ball in acres of space, he generally loses it or becomes involved in a scrap for it, which obviously kills any momentum we're hoping to build, if we hadn't lost Gbamin, and Delph didn't have chronic injury issues the harsh fact is that Davies wouldn't start many games, if Carlo gets some of his targets in the Summer, I can see Davies either going on loan or going permanently, I would wish him nothing but the best, but its time to face facts.

Been a while since I posted but after last nights debacle maybe time to share my disappointment!
Sigurdsson has become the new Schneiderlin absolutely gave nothing, Davies is not improving, DCL will never be a 20 goal striker although he puts a shift in. Bernard to lightweight for the premier league., Kean I'm sot sure about really haven't seen enough of him. Iwobi just drifts in the game with no real contribution exactly why Arsenal moved him on. Gordon promising yes but will we expect to much to soon? I thought Digne was okay but to few had any commitment to the cause last night, Ancelotti has a massive rebuild!

Davies improved second half but I agree the lads just nkt good enough. Sigurdson I woukd give away to get him off the wage bill. I woukd seriously start playing richiarlison on the wing and giving mouse kean a run of games.

Davies is not improving his match awareness is below PL standard for one thing, and that's how football goes it's nothing to do with his being one of us. Saying he will leave and be called a traitor for doing so, probably won't happen because that decision will be in the hands of someone else.
I could imagine the EFL is his next stomping ground.

Posters are saying Dcl will never be a 20 goal striker, before the lockdown he was scoring almost a goal a game.

I am sorry but the service he is getting from our midfield is woeful, playing it short around the back four and keeper then a hoof up to our forward line.

Our midfield is offering absolute zero to the forward line, it is down to Richarlison to try and get the ball rolling, and our two full backs getting down the wings.

Teams know we offer nothing in midfield are instructed to double up on Richardson and stop him playing and crowd Dcl.

Until we get that midfield sorted, then our good work in defence and attack will count for nothing.

Well said bignev.
No way should anyone be slating DCL - he is getting no service.
The midfield lacks creativity and he’s feeding off scraps. Get a creative midfielder or even a midfielder who isn’t afraid to go forward with the ball and supply the strikers and it’ll be a different outcome.
Like the look of Gordon and hopefully he’ll be able to provide that killer pass our midfield is lacking.

I would play Holgate in midfield until we get someone better. Sigurdsson should be nowhere near the first eleven. Leave Richarlison on the left wing, Gordon on the right and give Keane a chance with DCL in the middle. Sorted and they pay me nothing.

I like holgate in midfield as well. Problem there is then we only have 2 CBs. So many new players required. A bit worrying really given our financial situation.

Carrying on from my previous post above, it was down to our fullback yet again to create our chance for the goal against Southampton, only Gordon again came out with any credit in that midfield.

Against Wolves on Sunday I would keep the same defence, if Holgate is still injured and forward line, play Gordon Baningime and if fit Gomes in midfield, and daft as this sounds I would play both Digne and Baines on the left, with whoever on the right, will leave it to other posters to select the right wing.

{Ed025's Note - the midfield is a major problem bignev, i will make excuses for gomes as i dont think hes fit but davies, sigurdsson and iwobi are not worth a carrot, they offer nothing and i can see ritchie and DCL getting very frustrated with the lack of service, im a big fan of carlo but i have to question his reluctance to change things and even though i realise we do not have great depth i would play kids before those 3 mate..
