A name I've not seen mentioned as manager if/ when Silva departs, is Gareth Southgate.
I'm sure i read a few months ago that he would like another shot at club management.
Does anybody know if he would be in contention? Thoughts on getting him?
Personally i am concerned by his previous club stints, but he really seems to be blooming since taking over England.

Decent shout Worcester.

{Ed002's Note - You can put Gareth Southgate out of your thoughts. He won't be joining Everton.}

Thats a shame, but i guess with a big international tournament on the horizon, it really isn't a surprise. More likely available next summer after the Euros?
I think my other big shout of someone who could do a great job is Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds. High quality manager and really have no idea why he took a job in the Championship.
Let's face facts though, Silva could well stay for the rest of the year. It only takes 3 or 4 good results to turn things around and this team is more than capable of that! I really wouldn't be surprised to see him finish the season with us, a mid table finish but adding a cup, he seems to be going all out for the Carabao judging by starting line-ups.

We had one ex England manager, that was enough.

Would not even want him in my thoughts.

Ok Charlie, never employ another ex England manager again regardless of how amazing they could be. Very intelligent thinking to rule people out because Allardyce was once a manager there.

Steve Gibson had to sack him, Gibson doesn't fire from the hip so to speak, league footy is a bit different methinks .
Not for me anyway.

He’s not even a good England manager😂.

Southgate is an awful manager. Best thing he has done is beat Colombia on penalties. Would actually rather have Gary Megson.

Gallardo, the Ajax manager or Benitez for me.

I don’t think Southgate would leave the England job nor would he be sacked easily, as he was coached specifically for that job for years. All from coaching youth England teams to U21’s specifically brought through by the FA to do things how they want going forward (basically a yes man) Working so far!

Mourinho for me as we can’t risk taking a chance on another unknown or up and coming manager. The excuses need to stop and Mourinho or Benitez are proven at the top.

Adi Hutter for me.

Not a good Club Manager and a 'Yes' man, ideal for the FA neanderthals. Still Benitez for me, Gallardo by another poster a good call as well.

Southgate seriously what has he done in management win a few matches against average opposition, there would be managers I would rather take in the championship than him.

A huge no. International football is so different to club football. Look at Martinez. People forget how bad of a manager he was at club level because he's more successful in an international set up with Belgium.

{Ed025's Note - i still think if he could have sorted our defence out he would still be with us BT, offensively he was very good and we played attractive stuff but he needed help with the back four which was awful, we have become a graveyard for managers who all get bogged down by the weight of expectation mate and it will need someone very special to buck that trend..

Martinez was and is an excellent footballing coach, if only as Ed says he (Martinez) had sought a decent defensive coach, he would still be here. Martinez was asked to leave while we were 11th, we are currently 18th yet this guy continues to be teflon coated.
